Tragedy is one of my favorites definitely my top 10 ever…todays rap music just doesn’t seem to grab me or touch my spirit or leave a mark in my mind that makes me want to know more or understand a certain topic that one may unravel in a music project,I don’t know why but the content the subject matter just seems so redundant and weak,I don’t if todays rap artists don’t read or don’t care but in this world there is so much to be painted on the canvas of music and it lacks in a major way in todays rap artist..there’s a small very small fraction that spit that shit that is just that music that you keep in rotation that tattoos itself into your life..tragedy always made my mind wonder and his art was vivid and carried your imagination to walk with him in every track..from his youth as “intelligent hoodlum” to tragedy khadafi it was just so dope,still reportin,against all odds,thug matrix,the death of tragedy,blood ballads,come on man dude is still killing that booth his own is an ocean of king cobras and wild lions that come together to show you how a true god spits that business…my top ten would be 1.grandmaster melle mel 2.rakim.3 kool g rap.4guru.5 ice cube.6 Scarface.7big pun.8 Nas.9 AZ.10 tragedy khadafi, and Big L !!and Tupac ,that’s a total of my top 12 anyways yes trust me there’s more artists that emerged through the years that I have in my top 50 emcees but I’d be typing forever many are independent artists that never got that world wide or national distribution or caught that major label deal but had great careers as independent rap artists who sold 75-150 thousand every year and as an independent that’s still bringing in the same amount of financial success with less taken from that major label recouping and taking huge portions of the pie..growing up in the Bay Area Northern California it was just a method that was engraved in the artists in this area to be independent and have more control and maybe a bigger piece of the pie if one truly learns the music business,success depends on hustle and perseverance guys like E-40,San Quinn,Messy Marv,C-Bo,Brotha Lynch,Xraided,spice 1, Paris, we’re all local talent some found big deals like 40 and spice too short all had a home at jive records, anyways tragedy deserves more I always wished that Nas,AZ,Tragedy,big L would have made a project together imagine that….
25 TO LIFE...mad props to TRAGEDY REAL EMCEE, but on the real homie doing the interview claim to be a Hip Hop head but son don't know about Ayatollah being Trag producer...you listen to rap songs doesn't mean you're a Real Hip Hop head...do more research G, cause you miss so much info on the man's craft, and nigga you talk too much...ask questions and listen
