We are still exploring the Glenfarclas Whiskies and there is always a couple stories to tell as well. I could say overall that when you explore the distilleries in Scotland this is one of the more respected companies that has not wanted to change it's core values in keeping with the quality of it's products versus profit. That will be a judgement we could make on all distilleries in the Whisky industry.
Change seems inevitable as we move ahead but there are still a few companies that have resisted change and try to keep producing the quality and consistency of what made them a respected name in the industry. The independent Grant family of Glenfarclas is one of these companies. Now there are too many stories to tell of the 6 generations of Grants for this short presentation but we must mention the story behind the fifteen and how it ended up with the higher ABV than the rest of the core range of whiskies (other than the 105).
There is one other name that will crop up when you are talking about Glenfarclas and that is a fellow by the name of Phillip 'Pip' Hills. He has been interviewed numerous times, not only for his significant connection with the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) but for his colorful personality and stories.
If you get a chance to read his book, "The Founder's Tale: A Good Idea and a Glass of Malt", you will be rewarded. He is an interesting, colorful character and if nothing else just watch a few of the video interviews with him. They had me laughing at some of the wild and humorous stories he tells of his key role in founding the SMWA.
So I'm not forgetting that I am doing a whisky review on the Glenfarclas Fifteen and the Seventeen year old. The Fifteen is part of their core range but the Seventeen year old was bottled mostly for the North American market. That is it for now. Let's get into this video.
If you're not into the stories and just want to watch the review just scroll ahead. Enjoy the video. Slàinte Mhath

Thanks and How you doing. So busy these days I am ashamed to say I am a little bit slow getting back responding to your comments. I'm planning a trip to Louisville to explore some of my favorite Bourbon Distilleries. I guess it's a bit of a mess down that way after the hurricane. Let me know of any of your favorite distilleries down that way. Cheers
