  • Your little one is two months old! Are you having fun yet? This month, you may be seeing social smiles, small chuckles, and beginning to bat at toys. In this video, I walk you through exactly what is developmentally appropriate for a two month old baby or infant and what research-based practices say to look for in order to identify possible delays. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire was very helpful for me during my daughter's development and I hope this video is helpful to you, too!

    My surviving twin was born at 23 weeks in the NICU for 5Months. He will be 6months actual 2months adjusted on Sunday. He’s very much still in his newborn stage.

    • @GinnyBeeEdD
      @GinnyBeeEdD  Год назад +13

      NICU grads definitely have a slightly delayed development, and even with adjusted age, a little one as premature as that age might need some extra time. Focus on what your pediatrician recommends because your little dude is already a champion for hanging on and growing strong from only 23 weeks gestational age!

    Do you know if other milestone systems that talk about "2 month" infants also run through the END of the 2nd month like this questionnaire? Like you said, those extra 30 days (50% of their life at this point!) makes a big difference!

    • @GinnyBeeEdD
      @GinnyBeeEdD  Год назад +2

      I believe they do, yes! (Specifically speaking of the CDC guidelines!)

  • @Benny-jg6pu
    @Benny-jg6pu Год назад +5

    For some of the categories, you only gave 5 questions for a maximum total of 50 points. Are there some missing questions..? In the Gross Motor category, for example, my daughter scored 40 even though the minimum is 41 points but if we had a 6th question I’m sure she’d be above the minimum.

    • @GinnyBeeEdD
      @GinnyBeeEdD  Год назад +3

      That is a great question, and apparently I'm silly and forgot a few! So sorry about that! (And i'm going to pin this in case anyone else encounters the same problem!) Here are the ones I forgot to mention: Communication - Does your baby smile when you talk to him? Gross Motor - While your baby is on her back, does she move her head from side to side?

    Hello,
    Are these milestones supposed to be completed right at 2 months or at the end of their 2 months? I went to the pediatrician today a week before he’s actually 2 months and she was saying that he didn’t meet the milestone for smiling. I told her that he won’t be 2 months until June 26th. I didn’t think to ask her if these milestones needed to be completed before he’s 2 months or or when he getting ready to turn 3 months.

    • @GinnyBeeEdD
      @GinnyBeeEdD  Год назад +4

      Great question! They are measured through the end of the month! So 2 months and 30 days.

    2 months is a 8 week old baby right? So if the questions are for 2 months and 30 days it would be closer to the 3rd month right? Sorry first time Mom here lol baby is 5 weeks hehe

    • @GinnyBeeEdD
      @GinnyBeeEdD  2 года назад +1

      This is a very valid question, and basically, yes! I made a point to include how the actual growth measurement chart counts "2 months" so that parents wouldn't panic if their child can't do all of these things yet! 30 days makes a HUGE difference developmentally so I wanted to make sure the appropriate time frame was included. Check out my one month video for some "just turned two months" milestones. :)
