Imagine how much their mind would've been blown if they watched the video and saw what Snow really looked like
There is a reason his name was Snow, lol.
Right!!! Watch the actual video. You'll die. Lol
I was thinking the same thing!!!
Exactly!
And where this was written.
Snow is a LEGEND and he is still WELL respected in Jamaica!!
LOL
Still Respect him in Canada to mad skills
He was well respected at the high school parties I went to back in the day when this came out. Good times.
Brads face when he hears a Canadian rapping with a Jamaican dilect is priceless!! MC Shan was a solid producer in the late 80s into the 90s. He produced some hits!!
Mc Shan is a queens legend..
I loved both of their reactions to this so much! The only thing that would have been better is if this had been the official video.
Had no idea! My face is more dumb than priceless, but still!
a skinny pale white irish canadian at that.
I swore to God I'd never get sick of this song. 30 years later, turns out I was right
Same. I recently got on a kick of watching the youngins reacting to this song from my youth.
Snow still has the best album name - "12 Inches of SNOW"
Hahahah
Soooo hot. Canadian hot
canadian braggadocio....
Under rated album too. I'm not even into this music, but when this song came out, I bought his CD, it was one of my first ever CD's. The album is excellent from start to finish, so much variety and style and funk, maybe funk is the wrong word.
It's still one of my favourites to this day.
He's clearly compensating for something lol
Yep that's pretty much how everyone reacted when this song came out, so for a brief moment in time Snow united the country.
Jim Carrey united the country even better with his version
The country? The world.
Dude... I know Jamaicans that will STILL tell you that "Lonely Monday Morning" was one of the all time best Dancehall songs! 😎
New Zealanders all up in this song - it was everywhere. Hands across the world!
United a country!!! I feel sorry for that lame ass country
They’re shocked by the sound it’s a good thing they didn’t do the visuals 🤣
True 😆
so he's white so what? Pple of many skin colours like and buy blck music, period
Why?
why would it, because he's not jamacian
Guys, Snow is the performers name, hes a white man from Canada. This song was huge when it came out!
This song never wanted to drop out of the charts in the early 90's. Genuine one-hit-wonder.
He had other hits after this. Anything For You did pretty well
It's about snitching, and if I remember correctly he was in prison on double attempted murder charges when this hit. He's got a pretty interesting backstory, including how he picked up his vocal style.
Yea he’s for real
TIL Canadian Rapper 'SNOW' Spent 1 year in prison in 1989 while awaiting trial for two counts of attempted murder. He was eventually acquitted and freed. The incident was the inspiration for his hit song "Informer".
@@hays9008 tfw a White rapper from Canada with a Jamaican accent has more street cred than the American Black gangsta rappers today 😅
Real respects real.
Yep - and going to jail pretty much killed his career because he could never promote it
Lex: it doesn't snow in places like this.
Haha
That's not why he's called Snow. Also, he's from Canada. So, it really does snow where this is from.
He calls himself Snow because he’s white
HAHA! This was such a cool song from my childhood.
Love you guys..."lick your bum bum down" ;)
Yes
Man this song was straight fire when it came out. I’ve never figured out all the lyrics. But it still jams!
this song came out (and blew up) while he was in jail on a false charge-when he got out it was huge
The album title, "12 Inches of Snow" is a triple entendre. The vinyl album is 12" wide. 12 Inches of snow is not uncommon in winter in Toronto. And, then there's Snow bragging about being... well, you know. The whole album is fire!
Quadruple. There were 12 tracks on the album.
I remember this came out in my early teens…it was a big deal to be able to figure out the words and sing them! Such nostalgia! 👏🏻👏🏻
You should see SNOW. the official music video, it'll confuse you even more. Guaranteed. Lol
The amount of dance floors in the 90's with people grinding to this, incalculable. Millions of people.
I was a bit young for the clubs dance floors, but high school parties, oh yes! Good times.
Y'all needed to see the visual along with the song. lol. You would have really been blown away.
was looking for this comment lmao
Why? There are tons of White people in Jamaica with Jamaican accents. I know Snow is Canadian, but it's not unusual to see a White person speaking patois.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Brad is perplexed by the Canadian Jamaican rapper as Lex joins in on the confusion but both become victim of the rhythm and cadence which releases Lex,s choppy bop as Brad keeps a strong stance in his side to side sway.
Hahahahah $$
Love it & ur 100% right!! U could be the voiceover/narrator of the Brad & Lex show ☺️
lol
Why does he always seem annoyed listening to anything?
canadian *irish lol
She said "It doesn't snow in reggae places..." I just about fell outta my chair. They called him SNOW because he's a white rapper. Like Vanilla Ice. Or Lucas with the Lid off.
Also, he is from Canada, which has a deceptively large Jamaican culture, and a fuck ton of Snow
A Lucas reference! probably not many people remember him.
It's too bad you didn't show the actual video of Snow but I always thought this was a cool song since the beginning. Snow was a white rapper/raggae singer who grew up in a Jamaican area of Toronto and wasn't shy to do the dialect in his songs(since its how he grew up) thx for sharing Brad & Lex :)
Wow, rock is my music but this was so classic in the 90's, very cool song the Informer, very groovy!!
This was a hit back in the day but I never never knew what he was saying.
A reggaeton artist, Daddy Yankee recently re made this song in Spanish but it also featured the real Snow on the track. Dude still got the fast chops.
Yeah I'd say that was a hit song. Over 2.4 BILLION (not Million) views on RUclips in less than 3 years.
The looks on y'alls faces was hilarious 🤣 😂 great reaction as always
I remember buying this tape when it came out and it was on the radio nonstop
My wife made me buy cd for that one song
#CassetteTapeSquad
I bought the single on tape 😂
😳OMG! BRAD! I can't breathe! You literally made me EL-OH-EL when you said " at first I didn't think it was English".😆 And your face was so serious. 🤣 You made my day FOR REAL! Reactions like that is why I love you both so much. Thank you.
This song was amazing when it came out.
It still is!
“It’s growing on me.” lol. This was a #1 song. Actually the only song by Snow that I’d immediately recognize. It’s always funny hearing younger ppl listen to sh:t that you thought was the bomb back in the day and hear ‘em go “It’s not bad. I wouldn’t skip it. But I wouldn’t buy it either.”
When I was 11 or 12 years old, my sister's boyfriend put this on in the car with my parents in the front. He knew that I knew the 'a licky boom boom down' part and tried (successfully) to get my parents to yell at me for listening to this song. Fun memory!
I can testify that this patois and beat are absolutely authentic. You could walk three blocks in St James Town, Regent Park, or Jane Finch and the idioms and inflections are different. Caribbean descendants in the Toronto projects set the tone...but the patois spread rapidly as a kind of code talk outsiders had trouble penetrating ...
The best explanation I can offer is the Star Trek: Next Generation episode "Darmok", where the Enterprise encounter a people whose language can't be translated without common experience, because it's all metaphors and idioms on shared stories. In under an hour you learn enough of it that the final few lines spoken back to the "Tamarians" are fully comprehensible.
And that's what was like spending an hour with Toronto street kids. If you didn't do something with them, you simply couldn't understand them.
And that was absolutely deliberate.
Sokath, his eyes uncovered!
Darmok on the ocean!
LOVE YOUR COMMENT
Lol I saw someone with a Darmok & Jelad bumper sticker on their old truck that they were probably living in, at the sketchy grocery store in my neighborhood. and I had to stop and say hey like it was a strange man I didn't know and I'm a woman alone, but I had to say I love your bumper sticker 😂
A better analagy would be cockney english. It literally was code talk so outsiders didn't know what they were talking about.
Snow is a fellow Canadian. This song got played on the radio/tv daily when I was a kid. Still a classic song!
Skiing techno rock is a genre I want to hear!
ruclips.net/video/Z6uP4Xx2kC0/видео.html
Maybe something like this: ruclips.net/video/l6cFzCc7eRg/видео.html
Lickie boom boom down.
That is all. Carry on.
Another awesome reaction. I love watching these because you can see how you both process music. Keep up the amazing work, you are both awesome people. Snow is a rapper from Toronto and has an interesting story. I was lucky enough to meet him through a person who went to high school with him. He is genuinely a really great guy.
It's 2022. I've licked so many boom booms down at this point. No regerts.
I went to highschool with him in Scarborough, Canada. He is a white kid from Canada.
This reaction was EVERYTHING! A classic 90s kid staple.
LOL. Both your in initial reaction and facial expressions!! 😂 I loved this song when it was first released, it had such a different yet upbeat sound. I still have the '12 Inches of Snow' CD I bought! I listened to it all the time when I got it, but haven't listened to it in a minute.
I remember "cruising the cinema" with friends on the weekends listening to this song, Good Vibrations, Baby Got Back, and This is how we do it when I was a teenager.
Ha! I purchased this on cassette when it was released
Red/ Orange one ??? or It came in Black & White also afterwards...
@@udayrajput1235 oh I don't remember now haha
There was one more song on this tape that had a ton of bass. I used to bump it in my car as a teenager. good times.
This is a Banger 🔥
Peaking at number one in the German charts for several weeks in April / May 1993 this was a really big hit here. And in our school everyone was singing along to it (at least the chorus).
Loved your reaction to this song on the live stream. The surprised look on your faces was priceless! For a similar catchy reggae rap sound, "King Without A Crown (Live from Stubb's)" by Matisyahu ('00s) is a must listen. The energy and passion is that song is something to behold.
Matisyahu has a few worth checking out!
That version of the song is fire indeed!
Living in Toronto when this came out it was in a period with similar Jamaican House styling happening in the city. It references many Toronto things like East Detention, a city jail. The Toronto connection to Jamaican is deep and loving
Brad, normally stoic and focused, gets his mind blown!lol Snow felt speed is part of his rapping skill.
Big Jamaican community where he was raised
Hahahaa I was waiting for this one.
I love ur face Brad and I love ur reaction Lex 😂😂
Canadian reggae lol
He had another hit too I can’t think of the title at the moment
Edit- Girl I’ve been Hurt was I believe his only other somewhat hit
Now ya gotta do another 90s 1 hit wonder:
Ini Kamoze - 'Here Comes The Hotstepper'
For real!
@@rustyshackleford4327
That dude was also huge in like club raggae scene. Ini kamoze huge.. that remix was the only thing that broke mainstream. Raggae cats know ini
Man, I haven't heard that song since I was a kid. Enjoyed the reaction.
This is genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time. It has that ultimate early 90's vibe that is just perfect!
My friend used to work at a Blcokbuster Video in Scarborough near the intersection of Kennedy Rd and Sheppard Ave across the street from Agincourt Mall. Snow ran up some crazy late charges and they had to suspend his account. When he tried to rent and they wouldn't let him he pulled the "Do you know who I am?" shit. While we all look back fondly at this song, it was a banger when it first came out, then it quickly became super lame.
The remix of Anything for you with Buju Banton and several other reggae stars of the 90's is still amazing.
Snow grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of Jamaican immigrants in Canada
that's literally every neighborhood in Toronto, lol. this is why Drake talks like a Jamaican too - it's literally the standard urban accent in Toronto.
Loved this album as a kid.
White Canadian reggae rapper. 12 songs and the album called 12 inches of Snow. Ridiculous, but fantastic. Definitely brings back those 90’s memories.
Ahh! Brings back memories of Jr High! I had this cassette tape single. Jammed to it in my Sony Walkman Sport, riding the school bus!
You have to do A Tribe Called Quest "Buggin' Out'. These were the songs of the Summer back in early 90's at the Jersey Shore. I couldn't take Snow seriously but he could flow, not as well as Shabba Ranks👑
Brooo tribe is my shit that would be amazing too see these peoples listen to it
This brings back so many memories of seaside heights boardwalk
Jamaican's have a massive musical influence also I'm English and half Jamaican!
This is one you needed to see the video!!
When this song was out when I was a kid growing up in Newark NJ. My friends was like now you have someone you can relate to lol those are the days.
This is how music nowdays is for the rest of the world! That is the part that doesn't have English as a mother tongue. We enjoy the music and let the lyrics just fly their own way!
Not true, I'm a swede. But hearing/taking in english is very natural to me. I guess it depends on how much english content you consume on a regular basis.
Just as a side note alot of the Jamaican patois is English mixed with words from West Africa and Europe, it is simply spoken so fast and in an unusual cadence that it is hard to pick out the individual words being spoken.
Yes! This is the reaction I needed
when i was a kid, i was at canada's wonderland, waiting for the bumper cars. suddenly, they say the ride is closed, move us aside, and SNOW and his crew walk past us, hop into the bumper cars and rode around while his song played on the speakers. he never took off the sunglasses.
😂😂😂
Jim Carrey's cover of this is pretty great
Now do Leo Moracchioli's cover of it. It's one of my favourites of his. Combines the catchiness of this song with metal. Lex will love it!
I just clicked on my search 'reacton' and you popped up!! and its an amazing song...let's go!!
This Canadian... loved being taken back with this one!! This song was so fun!!!!
“Runaway” is another bomb track from Snow.
Chorus: Informer, ya' no say daddy me Snow me I go blame
A licky boom boom down
'Tective man a say, say daddy me Snow me stab someone down the lane
A licky boom boom down
Informer, ya' no say daddy me Snow me I go blame
A licky boom boom down
'Tective man a say, say daddy me Snow me stab someone down the lane
A licky boom boom down
People accused him of trying to pry his way into the rap scene and being fake, but he actually grew up in the culture and everything he says in the lyrics is true. The only thing that's fake is the accent lol.
Accent is fake? Nah, that's just how we talk up here in Canada, a licky boom boom down. You're coming off pretty ignorant right now.
Apparently that how people talked in his neighborhood where he grew up so can it be defined as fake?
@@justinatest9456 can confirm, I lived in Scarborough for half a year and now I end all my sentences with a licky boom boom down
The idiom actually requires the inflection though, it just doesn't mean the same thing if you try to sterilize the patois out.
@@justinatest9456 allegedly
Saw him in Montreal performing 6 songs with this one. Everyone screaming!! At a night club called the dome in 2001.
That was about the time I worked with him twice... seemed like a redemption tour of sorts. We actually had to have him 'kicked out' of the club we were doing the show in, because he was getting in the way. Basically told him when to come back for the show/soundcheck. I don't mind artists hanging around, or asking questions as long as they aren't in the way...and he was TOTALLY in the way! Fun show though!
No lie, I saw this pop up on my RUclips feed, and I let out an audible "FUCK YEA"
I'm 36 years old and used to skate my ass off to this, owning the skating rink when I was in 5th grade
This is 100% pure concentrated cultural appropriation. This is the good stuff.
Mainlined
Am I a bad person for loving it? 🤣🤣
@@luvdatbud absolutely not!
Is it really cultural appropriation if you grew up in that culture?
@@zom8979 Probably?
Now that you guys have a lot of classics under your reaction belt, I think it's time for you to be introduced to Leo Moracchioli. He's a one man band who has almost 24hrs worth of metal covers of classic and new hits, including this song. Definitely do yourselves a favor and check him out
Jonathan Young is much better at that though IMO.
Good shout ....Frog Leap 🐸🐸
I love Leo
Having the lyrics to follow along to is great. Back when this song first came out I was just saying gibberish as I listened.
"...say Snow stabbed someone down the lane." 🤣 Canadian artist Snow was all the rage for a short time in 93\94 on MTV. I still jam out to this track when I'm gaming A LICKY BOOM BOOM DOWN!!!
Snow is a white guy from Canada and "Informer' was his one and only Hit
Girl I’ve been Hurt was another played on the radios here in NY. Not quite as big as Informer tho
Except he isn’t. The only reason he didn’t get much commercial airplay in the US was because he was banned from stepping foot on US soil due to attempted murder charges in Canada. Snow had a HUGE international following.
@@darkhorse1280 no shit. Never heard about the charges. Just knew he was here and gone in 92/93/94?
@@ItwasMenotU1234 He ultimately served 2 years in prison for assault charges after this album’s release so the timeline fits (92’- 94’) Don’t know why he wasn’t allowed in after serving his time though.
The remix is called “Lonely Monday Morning” and is worth checking out.
That was actually the ORIGINAL version of the song!
Yeah, my hometown Toronto! Can't believe this is being covered. Amazing. My 5th Grade Teacher was White and Jamaican.
This was a huge hit everywhere! I'm in the UK and it was massive over here!
The look of confusion is damn HILARIOUS 🤣🤣🤣. I’ve always loved the music in this one. But the rest of it has been goofy strange af since the day it came out.
Snow may be the artist that got me into both Reggae and Hip-Hop. He is an amazing artist, terribly underrated.
You should have listened to snow runway...much better song.
I agree. And Snow has a memorable sound. This came out when I was in the military and I still easily recognize it almost 30 years later.
This reaction is the reason I subscribed. “Skiing techno sound”, I don’t think I ever heard anybody say they thought this song was gonna be techno lol
You need to show the video to this please they do have it. Much love 💘
Snow cause he is white. watch the actual video for better understanding.
Man, I hope there's a vid somewhere of you guys watching the actual video of this song because it's so much different when you see what he looks like!
This song came out when I was in 6th grade and has lived rent-free in my head ever since. Still a banger.
This album was amazing.
Brings me back to early childhood
I love that you looked up his picture at the end.
Man Brad you're good your on to it in the comments! I remember when this song came out loved it! Great reaction! Dj Shan is from Canada!
LOL!!! I was only 90sec in and you had me laughing my ass off. "I didn't think it was English" LOL! This song takes me back to my teen years.
You guys weren't born when we where vibing to this beautiful song.
This song is a jam.
😂🤣 love the reaction!!!!!!
I STILL know EVERY WORD to this song! 🤣 I didn't TRY to remember them after 20+ years... but I somehow still do! Haha!!!
I checked about 3 weeks ago on another reaction and was like "WTF?!?! I STILL know this?!?!" 🤪
It's pretty much impossible to comprehend even after 1,000 listens........
Brad.. I literally laughed the hardest ever when you said “at first I didn’t think this was even English”.. oh man… hahahaha!!
I am laughing so hard at Brads initial description of the lyrics 😆😆😆 blah bluh blah 🤣💀
Had never heard this before. Good stuff.
Lex , "thought this was gunna be some kinda ski, skiing techno sound, some kind of like, you know.. Skiing techno rock!" LMFAO!!!!
