Yeah. Me too. Now i know it is invented in Toyoto subsidiary in Japan. They create it so that they can sell their cars more easily. Because barcodes takes too much time.
Video was informative & all, but it didn't really do much to explain why I have no memory or the barcode on the back of my neck... Oh hold on, two gentleman from the government have just showed up to "explain things" to me while we go for a ride in their car with the blacked out windows. Wish me luck!
Last year in my math class we had to make barcodes for different things and I got the "human barcode scanner award" for being the fastest to read a barcode in my class xD
Fantech have a cleaver youtube explanation on using QR codes as a support and information tool for already purchased products. They're such an underrated tool. I don't get why they aren't used more.
The venerable barcode is not going anywhere, its still very useful in the retail space and is basically just a quick way to read a serial number , which itself is often written at the bottom of the barcode just in case the barcode is damaged or unreadable. Also the barcode rarely stores anything more than just a serial number, the rest is stored on a database on a computer. While QR codes are great, they still need more high tech devices, barcode scanners are often cheaper and ubiquitous and very easy to use. Also barcode scanners are moving away from lasers for reading as the lasers could be harmful if pointed at the eyes. Newer models use LEDs and are still pretty accurate.
While UPC is probably the dominant barcode type in the US and Canada, EAN is by far the most common in Europe, with the most common one of those being EAN-13. Also, QR code scanning has become insanely fast, without using the cloud. In my group at university we are working with qr and bar code scanning libraries that don't connect to the cloud, so all the processing is done on the phone. The two limiting factors for all the phones we have tested are camera launch speed and autofocus speed, since the processing itself is instant.
+Christoffer Nørskov Datamatrix is getting more common , also I think code 128 is as common as EAN-13... and thankfully none of that crappy interleaved 2of5
Daemi Ax I have seen datamatrix a couple of places, but often for more specialty purposes, would say QR is still more common for the consumer to see. Don't think i have seen code 128 (or recognized it) anywhere. At least products in the store still use EAN 13 here.
Nah qr codes mess up way more than barcodes in retail. One wrinkle and it's dead. They're also slower to scan. I'm a checkout opporator they drive me and everyone else nuts. Apparently all the other departments like them though >.>
From Excel data to barcode labels - First enter multiple barcode numbers in Excel, then import them into our barcode generator software to make bulk barcode labels, this way canl great improve the work efficiency.
Hey guys, kinda out of context, but I'm really going through a dilemma as my PC parts are arriving through the post for my first build. My question is that my motherboard doesn't have a display port but my gpu has, as well as my monitor. Would it work to connect my monitor to my gpu through display port? Or would I need a new motherboard? Help appreciated, thanks
Can you please explain satellite internet? Why is it so slow? Why is the latency so high? Doesn't cabled internet have to go through a satellite? Wouldn't it be slower to go through a wire, then a satellite, then back? It doesn't make sense please explain satellite internet.
+eamon butler the software you are reading to : say a database program , relates it with number you have in your database of that item and therefore it first provides the information from the database back to the softyware with the identification information it also , if necessary removes that entry from the database indicating the inventory :D
I don't think bard codes are going anywhere. there almost perfect for any system where you need fast response time from a very simple processing power so i see ubcs still being around in warehouses and on small products like gum that are not sized right for QR.
2:15 Hey, I know that you probably didn't do on purpose but some people might take it the wrong way, my own great great uncle was killed during Franco's dictatorship and you should maybe be a bit more careful with that stuff in newer videos.
This guy has a future! He should have his own tech tips channel
lemme act like a boomer... "he does have a channed named Linus Tech Tips lol"
I would love to check out more than just his tip though.
when i was little i thought QR codes were a maze
