I have noticed that the drums play right to left “ as if I’m watching from the stands” instead of left to right” as if I’m sitting behind them.” Did Volbeat record this way for a reason or is it just me? Play Cheapside Slogger with headphones on and it sounds different than anything I’ve heard. It’s really cool though. Just wondering.
Hi Jerry, thanks for the question, I am not sure about previous Volbeat records but from my own experience recording over the years, most engineers that i have worked with record drums this way to project an audience perspective of the drummer. When i record at my studio I do the same thing. For example, when you see a drummer do a roll around the toms the sounds should move right to left just like the visual, in my opinion.
