Wow need details on your build, what are you running on suspension, do your tires rub, did you replace your camshafts and pistons to equal the turbos power. I have a 98 SR5 and your build is somewhat what I want for mine
What did you use for wiring harness ecu set up? I was looking at your forum on tacoma world. I hadnt read it all yet curious if you just kept stock wiring ecu?
Randy Burke I used a URD Plug N Play harness. They offer a few different versions depending on your trucks model year and configuration. Here’s the link to the one I used for the 3rz. www.urdusa.com/type-b-plug-n-play-harness/
@@JT-bj1nx so what i got is a 81 toyota rock crawler its green sticker so its offroad only i got a 95 3rz and want to turbo it with programmable ecu. What ecu did you use and how did you program it to run right with the turbo set up without melting down the motor
for 2rz run 315-330cc pinks, 255lph pump, one or two steps colder plugs(bkr7e-11 or bkr7e) gapped to .24-.28 and a rising fpr 1:1 with boost. if intercooled this is good for 10 lbs, for 3rz you follow the same setup pump wise etc, and use 450cc dsm injectors instead of the 00-04 pink injectors
lsxjunkie no mods needed for the pink injectors, they sit in the stock rail just fine, I run a custom log mani, and I had a 50 trim t3 but it's getting a gt35 as we speak. Only if you wish to run 7mgte injectors or can injectors do you need to solder resistors, but if you have the 2.4 the pink injectors from the 3rz will be safe below 11-12 psi. I use a 1:1 fuel pressure regulator and a aem 390lph pump.
That cap at 1:04 behind the throttle cable. Where did you reconnect the fowards valve cover port that used to be connected there? Also where did you route the bov and wastegate vac lines? Thank you for the help
That valve cover port is now connected to a vacuum hose that runs to the intake pipe before it goes into the turbo. This prevents boost from being pushing into the crank case and also creates vacuum to help the crank case breath. Some people have simply put a breather filter on it, but I've read that it needs a vacuum source to properly vent. LMK if you have any other questions
layinsparxx I had a ka24de 240sx back in the day that I turbo’d and ran the maf pre-turbo and had stalling issues like crazy. That was one of the main reasons I set this truck up the way I did with the blow through set up. I had zero issues with it.
@@JT-bj1nx yeah I've done 3 of these tacos and never had an issue but this one is a pain in my ass. It never stalls though just hesitates when I try to take off from a light
Nope. MAF was run just as it would stock only with boost going through it. I later ended up installing a Megasquirt 3 with 550 injectors that used an on board MAP sensor. This bypassed the air meter part of the MAF.
No Pink tops are almost the same as browns. just a way to feed more fuel to compensate the big amount of air pushed by turbo. u can have up to 10 psi with stock ecu by just adding a bigger fuel pump and bigger injector the ecu will do the rest. I turbo'd my hilux but i optd for a piggyback interceptor and gt35 with surge tank running an extra bosch 044.
In this video I was just running the stock ECU with Pink top injectors from a 01-04 3rz. Later on I swapped the injector for Osidetiger 550's and controlled everything with a Megasquirt3x standalone.
Wow, I thought that by implementing a supercharging system the fuel consumption could be improved, I also have that engine, but a different truck, it's a Toyota Prado Sumo and the truth consumes a lot of fuel, I had the idea of reprogramming the E.C.U. to try to make the mixture more efficient, but I would like to be able to install a turbocharger in order to obtain a better result, do you think that you can improve the fuel consumption of the 3rz-faith engine with these adjustments?
Juan José Carvajal Arevalo turbo and supercharger will make your gas worse I have the same engine in my Tacoma and it gets very good gas mileage but it’s all stock and rebuilt motor I probably get 30 mpg on highway and very good miles throughout the city
It's not a kit. It's a custom set up I built myself. The only part of the plumbing is the Manifold from Treadstone. All the intercooler and exhaust piping I fabricated my self using mandrel bends I ordered online from mandrelbends.com. I added a link in the description to my build thread on TacomaWorld that has all the details of the setup plus how I installed a Megasquirt3 on it. LMK if you have other questions about it. I did a ton of research piecing this set up together so I know how hard it can be to find info online.
Very nice truck. I have a 2002 2.7 pre runner that I plan on turbocharging when I have the extra cash lying around.
That’s a cool truck man. You don’t see a lot of 4wd guys going turbo

Hard to hear what manifold and turbo you use. What are you using to control fuel with? What fuel pump? What pink top injectors? Thanks man

Pinks, 190 pump, stock ecu
Nice truck! Do the tires rub with that set up? Did you have to modify anything to make them fit ?
No rubbing. I just had to trim up the pinch weld at the back of the front fender well
