Intercooled, Stock ECU, Pink Top Injectors, Full 2.5" Exhaust, External WG. Here's a link to my build thread on TacomaWorld: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/boostedkas-turbo-3rz-tacoma.435280/ I no longer have the truck anymore, but if you have questions, just LMK and I'll do my best to answer them.
Very nice truck. I have a 2002 2.7 pre runner that I plan on turbocharging when I have the extra cash lying around.
What did you do for tuning
In this video I was just running the stock ECU with Pink top injectors from a 01-04 3rz. Later on I swapped the injector for Osidetiger 550's and controlled everything with a Megasquirt3x standalone.
That’s a cool truck man. You don’t see a lot of 4wd guys going turbo
You any kinda diagram for the vacuum line routing?
What leaf springs are those
Stock leaf springs with Icon 3 leaf AAL, no overload leaf.
What type of corrections were made if you’re running the stock ecu?
The corrected and uncorrected numbers just referring to the altitude. The lower numbers are at the altitude I dyno’d the truck which is about 5500ft and are uncorrcred meaning that’s the actually hp and tq it made. The corrected numbers are a calculated value of how much hp and tq it would have made if it was at sea level.
What did you use for wiring harness ecu set up? I was looking at your forum on tacoma world. I hadnt read it all yet curious if you just kept stock wiring ecu?
Randy Burke I used a URD Plug N Play harness. They offer a few different versions depending on your trucks model year and configuration. Here’s the link to the one I used for the 3rz. www.urdusa.com/type-b-plug-n-play-harness/
@@JT-bj1nx so what i got is a 81 toyota rock crawler its green sticker so its offroad only i got a 95 3rz and want to turbo it with programmable ecu. What ecu did you use and how did you program it to run right with the turbo set up without melting down the motor
Wish I could get line to run as good as yours, I'm starting to wonder if I should put my MaF in the charge piping.
layinsparxx I had a ka24de 240sx back in the day that I turbo’d and ran the maf pre-turbo and had stalling issues like crazy. That was one of the main reasons I set this truck up the way I did with the blow through set up. I had zero issues with it.
@@JT-bj1nx yeah I've done 3 of these tacos and never had an issue but this one is a pain in my ass. It never stalls though just hesitates when I try to take off from a light
What size coopers are those?
juantrickpony 33x12.5r15. Running 3.5* caster and trimmed the pinch weld. No rubbing issues. Wheels are 8” wide with 3.75” backspace
What kit is on this
It's not a kit. It's a custom set up I built myself. The only part of the plumbing is the Manifold from Treadstone. All the intercooler and exhaust piping I fabricated my self using mandrel bends I ordered online from mandrelbends.com. I added a link in the description to my build thread on TacomaWorld that has all the details of the setup plus how I installed a Megasquirt3 on it. LMK if you have other questions about it. I did a ton of research piecing this set up together so I know how hard it can be to find info online.
Thank you so much I’m thinking about doing a custom turbo kit on my truck
@@Adrian-ig6rj Yeah no problem man. Check out some of the builds on CustomTacos as well. There's a lot of knowledgeable people on there too
Wow need details on your build, what are you running on suspension, do your tires rub, did you replace your camshafts and pistons to equal the turbos power. I have a 98 SR5 and your build is somewhat what I want for mine

@@JT-bj1nx is 3rz better than 2tr?
@@chechen_power1jz From my understanding, the blocks are the same with different heads bolted on top.
You have an Instagram or Facebook truck looks sick and love the turbo setup
Amigo cuanto te salió poner el turbo ?
do you run a voltage clamp on your MAF becuase you routed it as a blow through setup?
Nope. MAF was run just as it would stock only with boost going through it. I later ended up installing a Megasquirt 3 with 550 injectors that used an on board MAP sensor. This bypassed the air meter part of the MAF.
I know this is an old video, but. How'd you get it to run on stock ECU with different injectors and a turbo? Did it need flashed?
No Pink tops are almost the same as browns. just a way to feed more fuel to compensate the big amount of air pushed by turbo. u can have up to 10 psi with stock ecu by just adding a bigger fuel pump and bigger injector the ecu will do the rest. I turbo'd my hilux but i optd for a piggyback interceptor and gt35 with surge tank running an extra bosch 044.

Hey bro, nice job, How much fuel consumption do you have with this configuration?
About 20mpg hwy, and 16-17 in town. Not too much less than when it was stock with 31’s and 3.90 gears. Maybe a 1mpg drop
Wow, I thought that by implementing a supercharging system the fuel consumption could be improved, I also have that engine, but a different truck, it's a Toyota Prado Sumo and the truth consumes a lot of fuel, I had the idea of reprogramming the E.C.U. to try to make the mixture more efficient, but I would like to be able to install a turbocharger in order to obtain a better result, do you think that you can improve the fuel consumption of the 3rz-faith engine with these adjustments?
Juan José Carvajal Arevalo turbo and supercharger will make your gas worse I have the same engine in my Tacoma and it gets very good gas mileage but it’s all stock and rebuilt motor I probably get 30 mpg on highway and very good miles throughout the city
Hard to hear what manifold and turbo you use. What are you using to control fuel with? What fuel pump? What pink top injectors? Thanks man
for 2rz run 315-330cc pinks, 255lph pump, one or two steps colder plugs(bkr7e-11 or bkr7e) gapped to .24-.28 and a rising fpr 1:1 with boost. if intercooled this is good for 10 lbs, for 3rz you follow the same setup pump wise etc, and use 450cc dsm injectors instead of the 00-04 pink injectors
Michael Riddle thanks man. What are you using for fuel management tuning? I see you MAF is on th psi side on intake.
lsxjunkie no mods needed for the pink injectors, they sit in the stock rail just fine, I run a custom log mani, and I had a 50 trim t3 but it's getting a gt35 as we speak. Only if you wish to run 7mgte injectors or can injectors do you need to solder resistors, but if you have the 2.4 the pink injectors from the 3rz will be safe below 11-12 psi. I use a 1:1 fuel pressure regulator and a aem 390lph pump.
lsxjunkie maf and Iat sensor post turbo, no issues this way, I do not run a bov either.
Pinks, 190 pump, stock ecu
Has anything been done to the motor or is it basically stock? Also how much boost do you run
The motor is completely stock with 185k miles on it. I’m running ~8psi of boost in it. That is on the stock ecu. I’ve run 320cc and 440cc injectors on it this way.
Nice truck! Do the tires rub with that set up? Did you have to modify anything to make them fit ?
No rubbing. I just had to trim up the pinch weld at the back of the front fender well
Nice truck!!How much boost are you running ?
8psi on pink tops and stock ecu. It put down 186hp on the dyno at 5000ft elevation. That equals ~225hp at sea level. About an 80hp gain over stock
That cap at 1:04 behind the throttle cable. Where did you reconnect the fowards valve cover port that used to be connected there? Also where did you route the bov and wastegate vac lines? Thank you for the help
That valve cover port is now connected to a vacuum hose that runs to the intake pipe before it goes into the turbo. This prevents boost from being pushing into the crank case and also creates vacuum to help the crank case breath. Some people have simply put a breather filter on it, but I've read that it needs a vacuum source to properly vent. LMK if you have any other questions
I ran the valve cover vent where that used to connect to into the vac line that goes from the evap canister across to the Intake. I just teed it in.
What wheels you got on there
Brett Clardy Wheels are American Racing Teflon Mohave. 15x8 3.75" back spacing
