Hello, I am 68, my girlfriend is 68, we are both blind. We just purchased the concept to and put it together ourselves with help from two other blind individuals Who were both online at the time. I think your videos are great. You explain things really well without having to see them. I especially liked when you talked about moving your trunk from eleven o’clock to one o’clock . keep up the good work and keep explaining . well done . Using the Apple Watch with voiceover to track progress. Going to start using the PM 5 m, that works well for a blind user. Thank you for reading.

I bought a concept 2 and watched about 5 or 6 different how to videos. This one is by far the best. Reason - he teaches muscle memory! All the other videos were a cerebral approach “ step one. step two.” But following this video your body learns by DOING it rather than by thinking about how to do it. NAILED it! Thank you!!! Row, row, row! 😄

I so appreciate what you do for people. Is it weird I watch your videos and do not have a rower (yet)? :) I’m recovering from an accident that caused a brain injury, and balance is one of my biggest issues as I recover and re-learn how to move and interact with the world. A rower would be perfect, and I find your videos and message inspiring as I work towards recovery. Thank you again!

I am just starting out on a rower. I hope your recovery progressed well. I was in an accident that caused a TBI 7 years ago and the recovery was so difficult. I had to walk with a cane for months after it. I also had a detached nerve in my eyes which caused double vision so that made balance even more difficult. I basically lost nearly a year of “normal” life. Now I am 100% again. I hope you have made good strides in your recovery.

My first rowing machine delivered today - found your channel and this is my first video. Having spent 53 years as an equestrienne--I was immediately drawn to Dark Horse Rowing of course. I was an aquatics instructor for 15 years too and last year relocated to another continent and was left without a fitness routine other than walking which I love but its not enough. At 59 I want to be careful with my joints and am hoping this will work for me in a small apartment. The first 10 minutes feels good so far. I really appreciate your detailed instructions and the reasons why learning the mechanics is important. I will definitely be following along so I get this correct movement from the start and work up to better workouts. Wow thanks so much for your videos.

The C2 rower is the only piece of equipment at my gym that never gets used, I hopped on it yesterday (to the bemusement of some of the regulars) and
I did a quick work out (2k meters) with OK technique. I'm now finding myself eager to learn more about this piece of equipment and how it can aid me with my fitness goals. Thanks
for the content, I'm looking forward to reviewing all of it.

Need to get my body moving again and rowing is the perfect tool, need to lose maybe 30lbs I think.

THANK YOU for this! It's been nearly two decades since I rowed (college) and was worried my body (or brain) wouldn't remember the exact mechanics and position, etc, but following this instantly put me back in the (not yet delivered) saddle. AND it'll help me break down when I teach the 15yo once the Concept2 comes in. Good stuff!

I realized that I was just winging it using some basic workout principles...posture, etc. but need guidance to do it properly. Thanks for the video specifically designed for beginners.

I am a long time user of the Weider Ultimate Body Works machine, which has worked very well for me as far as gaining muscle, shedding fat, and just staying in shape. I recently purchased the Domyos 100 Rowing machine that I just followed you on your video with. It has two different strength cables for strength adjustment. My machine is a beginner row machine, which I plan to continue following you on. I am 57 and have seen part of the fitness world since joining a Tae Keon Do class in six grade. I just became one of your subscribers. Thanks again.

Glad I asked the right questions (to Google) and got me to you. Been debating Treadmill over Rower and I can see why a rowing machine makes more sense in many substantial ways. Lets start with the not so obvious but often disregard ones for a home fitness equipment. Unless you live in a loft in NYC (or similar high ceiling apartment -most of us do not) your home is going to impose dimensional constraints for any vertical cardio machine (bicycle, treadmill, elliptical, ...) with one very peculiar; 1) the floor to ceiling space. My house has a 7 feet clearance in the basement and 7 feet, 11 inches in any other room. With me being 6 foot, 2 inches this constraint, renders the choices of "vertical" cardio to not feasible (unless I put the equipment in the garage). Why? The moment I go faster than speed 8, I am going to start jogging (up and down) and my head will likely hit the ceiling. Let alone the use of incline settings. 2) These other machines are intense impact and more prone to effect on the knee joins. 3) A motorized treadmill does not emulates real life, as you do not walk or run in airport mechanical walkways. When you walk/run over a road, it is your body that moves forward, not the path under your shoes - so all that unnatural exercise could potentially have an impact on your form. And finally; for what I read so far in professional advise on either or, a rowing machine exercises more muscle groups than a treadmill; and not just that, it seems (the consensus) that the fat burning and muscle building of a rowing machine has no equal in a treadmill. If what I want is to loose weight but also maintain the loss, rowing is my choice. And on the other points made, rowing is definitively better for me. Now the one machine featured here is currently quite expensive for my budget and so I would go with a water resistance type or maybe magnetic one that I already am tracking online. The technics given tho, are applicable to any rowing machine, so thank you for that "Dark Horse".

Really glad I found (and subbed to) your channel... My Concept 2 arrives tomorrow. I got the tall version.
I was in very good shape for a 56 yo a few years ago without a worry in the world, when my lateral meniscus in my right knee tore violently just getting up from a kneeling/sitting on my ankles position one day (degenerative tear).
After going through a couple of years of my knee locking up randomly (and painfully), and it taking me down a couple notches mentally as well, I finally decided to have arthroscopic surgery last august. It went very well and my surgeon (head orthopedic surgeon at my Kaiser) said I could do anything I felt I could do. No restrictions.
I have been doing very well (well enough to pull the trigger on the large ADV bike in my avatar) but I still had/have that nagging fear of re-injuring it in the back of my mind.
I think (and hope) rowing will be just the thing to get me back into better cardio condition again, while also being comparatively low impact.

I was on a waiting list, but got mine recently. I hit "Just Row" and did 5 minutes to try it out. Works great. Nice machine. Unfortunately, it doesn't fold up, but rather comes in 2 pieces. Kind of silly. The phone holder isn't wide enough to hold today's phones with covers on them, but the app mostly shows the same thing as the machine screen.

I just started at the gym and enjoy the tower but felt like I wasn’t getting Mac benefits. This definitely helped me out a lot. Thank you. One thing you didn’t mention was what to set the rower at when you start? I started on 1 and felt like it was too wobbly. So now I’m using 10. I’ve only been in the gym for a week.

13:28 newbie here, this is a great video, thank you. I found I’m having trouble keeping my heels down as I close my hips and come come forward, any suggestions to correct this?

Hey guys...firstly thank you to Dark Horse Rowing for doing this for us. Can you class this Vid as an actual workout or is it purely just technique?
