Honestly I feel your pain Stefan, I was in a car accident in January and I broke my L3 vertebrae and almost fully broke it, i walked away from that accident and have had to have rods put in my back, at 16 almost losing the ability to walk is lowkey scary, but I'm pushing through and honestly it gave me a much needed reality check. Hope you have a speedy recovery and get back to what you do best
Same here. I wrecked in Feb and shattered my T12 vertebrae and bone pieces went into my spinal cord. At the time I couldn’t move anything below my waist but here 7 months on the only thing I can’t move is my right ankle and below. They even made me a special leg brace so that I can drive again and I’m so grateful. I do hope by the end of PT I can move everything at least a little.. wishing u a speedy recovery!!
As someone who's had 2 back surgeries at 16 for scoliosis. L3 - T5 fused. Get a desk job. I was never one who liked being an office door. I've done manual labor since then. I'm 52 now and have constant back pain.
Honestly as a certified EMT for over 3 decades I’m shocked at the level of incompetence displayed by those medics after your crash. We all train to evaluate the mechanism of injury. With the hit and damage to the car, coupled with almost no safety measures. You should have automatically been transported to the hospital for a higher level of care and evaluation. Those medics were lazy and poorly trained. Even yanking the helmet off was negligent. You needed X-rays from the start. Those medics got their faces on RUclips. If I were that medic I would be embarrassed to be seen on this video. Even their evaluation was total bs.
As an certified adrenalinejunky with 10 broken bones (so far) including neck. My thought was just the same, How could they believe that a crash like that would be fine!? How could they even let him ride back sitting up and turn the head to talk.. Cheers from Northern Sweden.
HANS and a containment seat with harnesses is without question a must! I often think helmets without harness/seatbelts is just adding to the weight and inertia your neck and back has to deal with. .
Ive had a motorbike accident and the way i was treated in the hospital. They took me in through in front of a lot of people. They really took it seriously and even i can see the way they were downplaying it was ridiculous. What a joke. Third world countries have better services that that
So happy to see and hear that you're okay! Don't rush getting back behind the wheel...or doing any of the other stunts you do on your channel. Let your dear family gather 'round you and heal you from without and with. Take care and aloha!
Bro! You are alive and your injuries could have been way worse. I know it sucks for the car. But for your wife and kid(s) you are still able to be there for each other. Keep on keeping on brother!!!!! Love the vids
Great lessons to pass on to others looking into racing. Safety 100% needs to come first. I think it's also a good idea to start with a car that doesn't have 600+ hp (or whatever the Vette was at after detuning). There's a lot to learn and experience to gain before layering in that much power. The fact that they initially said you didn't need to go to the hospital and then let you drive there is pretty concerning. Glad you're doing ok
This is America, they probably didn't want to push additional costs on him if he said he felt ok. In Europe you'd just go to the hospital "just in case" something was wrong that was omitted or maybe was masked by adrenalin.
You can possibly repair the damage on your C6 just need to get front of a C6 and just cut of the damage part and weld the entire frame and then start doing a full rebuild because my dad's truck had a really bad damage with frame and everything and we just cut of the frame and welded back a new one
Respect to you in all honestly i deeply know what your going through personally, I was struck by a 40 truck or a big rig sideswiping me on the drivers side of my car which I was the driver i had a similar injuries to you i was walking around for a few hours after the crash until bang the pain kicked in unlike you i needed a wheelchair for a while until i healed with the help of a few pins in my back, sadly it was a few years before i was able to walk again and 20 years on i an fine and never looked back give it time and you will be back to yourself again
Hey Stefan, I would just like to tell you how much your video resonates with me. I had a stairwell collapse at work sending me falling two stories landing on the concrete below. I sprained my right ankle, left, foot, and compression fractured my T11 vertebrae. But by the grace of God I am so thankful that that was the only injuries I had sustained. I am about halfway done with my recovery but hopefully I will be out of my brace sooner rather than later. This was the kind of reassurance I needed to know that everything is going to be okay. Praying for a safe and fast recovery Stefan! Thanks
Am I the only one on this. But this video was one of the hardest things to see through.I don’t know if it’s just because human nature of just not liking seeing/ hear ppl getting seriously hurt but I couldn’t find myself to sit through this one video. Ether way I am happy to hear that your gonna be a Ok . Stay safe and can’t wait to see you back to normal. Good bye vette 😞👋🏾.
Thank you for sharing. Because of you, I’m definitely taking safety much more serious. I had the same mindset as you before. I’m ordering a HANS device asap. Hope you have a speedy and great recovery! Come back stronger!
In 2019 I was in a semi accident was sleeping at the time short story short flew around the truck like a rag doll it I got hit in the head by a microwave and a mini fridge in my back but I had similar outcome but mine was a Compression fracture of the t11and t12 that was probably the top 3 most painful things I had to deal with and don’t wish that upon anyone…… it sucks to see the vet like that but it can be replaced…..I have faith in u bro u will come back stronger then ever…..to this day I still have problems with my back also have shoulder problems and doctors won’t help me I just hope u don’t have to go threw that……
That’s some scary stuff man, God was on your side for this one, best of luck with the recovery, I know iam getting a harness now for track days myself now
I'm so glad you are doing okay. Its sad to see that car go but I rather see that car destroyed than you lose your life. I purchased the shirt and can't wait to see the next build brother.
Making my son watch this video. This is a great cautionary tale that not only tells that safety the most important thing, but that accidents can and do happen to everyone.
Glad your ok and still can walk and enjoy what you do. I was in a wreck with a side by side and broke my back and now paralyzed from chest down. Keep your head up and recover you’ll get threw this, we all do it just takes some time brotha 🤜🤛
First of all,I'm happy to see that you are doing good and I wish you that may recover fast from your Injuries and I know these days have been tough for you stefan.i know how It feels when you lose your favorite car..but the important thing is that you should take some rest for a few weeks until you are completly healthy again😊and may God bless you and your family bro we all will support you and I'm also buying your tshirt❤cheer up Stefan it's nothing there will be always up's nd down's in life..sometimes it's okay to startover again from where you lost brother..😊✌️
I was out on the west UMC track last week.... the winds were INSANE. Lots of crashes. So bummed you had such a horrible injury. Get better soon my man.
Got in a wreck back in 2013 and broke 3 of my vertebrae, so I feel you dude! It took me like 3 months to feel healed again, but it happened! Stay positive, man. Glad you're mostly okay!
I'm glad your ok and walking without surgery or brace. Pray for a speedy recovery. I feel for you. In 2004 I had a motorcycle accident. L1 compression fracture and torn muscle tissue, strict bedrest for 6 weeks. Back brace for 3 months, had to use a walker from week 6 through about week 12, chronic pain for about 5 years. It's awful and I don't wish that experience upon anyone. Here we are 19 years later and I have see a chiropractor regularly and a massage therapist once a month just to keep the pain to a tolerable level.
I feel you. I was playing football, ran a play and pancaked the defensive end. Went to stand up and our QB tried to hurdle me. I couldn’t walk. It look me an hour just to lay down in my bed without crying. It only got easier by a little bit day to day over 5 months. Stay strong man!
I have almost the same injury. T2 and T3 had some pretty severe burst fractures from the same folding motion when I wrecked a dirtbike. I ended up needing to have them replaced with a steel cage, a plate, a couple rods and some screws. It took some time to heal, but that was 18 years ago and no one even knows unless I tell them. Hopefully your recovery goes as well or even better.
Glad your doing as well as you can bud. I was in tears when I found out. Yeah next rebuild take classes. Have Gabe devote time to help put in the proper safety measures. Brother Luke will help of course. And this is a great time to reflect on everything and spend quality time with your brothers. Sky and Nate and Luke and Gabe. And the family. Also keep your glorious singing voice up. Maybe make a ep. 😂. Don’t rush back to the track.
You'll be alright mate 👌 get well and recover and just be happy your alive to move and walk It's a sport of drag racing and those are consequences we can face in this sport JUST BE GRATEFUL 🙏 AND DON'T FEEL BAD
Brother to keep it 💯with you. We in the car community happy that you are ok. Hurt, but ok and here with us. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Looking forward for your next builds. Thanks for your videos.
I'm glad you made it out alive I was in an accident once when this car crashed into me and took too ages for my back to heal properly and it's still not been the same get well soon 😊
I got hit by a truck in March and had a transverse process fracture in my t7 and the pain in the last 6 months has been getting worse and worse, I pray the best for you man
Glad you are “OK!” and moving about. The healing, i.e. resting, is up to you; so, take it easy! We love you, and we will be happy to see you again on YT, whenever that may be. ❤️🙏🏼🍀
The safety is so easy to overlook when it's your 1st time. Not going all crazy, but when you get comfortable driving like that, you start pushing more and more. The next thing you know, you are in the damn hospital, kicking yourself because you know better. So glad you are ok.
Honestly, I wasn't going to originally, but now after watching this video I decided to pick up a shirt after all❤ praying for a speedy recovery, can't wait to see you back in full action once again🙏 looking forward to the next chapter
Sorry bud. For your pain. I been there. !!! Had 2 major accidents. 1. Bike. 1 car. Left me with broken bone in neck. Spinal injury and shoulder injury. No fun at all. Feel better 😊
