His poems are inspired by the heaviness of the era of deprivation, the struggle for the right to think and say what you want. These verses reflect the severity of life, in which everything was missing: from ordinary clothes to the “spirit of freedom”
There were no clips during Tsoi’s time, all these clips from concerts, stills from films, etc. were made 20-25 years after his death, when some rare recordings already appeared on RUclips. Previously, they could only be found from collectors. This music was underground, amateur, in makeshift conditions - given that there were no conditions and environment for this music in the USSR (no instruments, no records, no press, no TV, no producers, no studio, no ability to record , no rock heritage as in America, because in Russia rock was a new and alien phenomenon, which had no place or anyone to learn from, except independently from records, which were very difficult to buy at that time - only at home, no advertising ,. This was created due to the incredible enthusiasm, talent and selfless efforts of individual people who were burning with creative ideas. Tsoi worked as a fireman in a boiler room and did not have a musical education, and was from a poor family, very modest and shy. If it weren’t for the support of BG (the Aquarium group) in the early stages and not for meeting Joanna Stingray, who came to St. Petersburg in 1985 to meet Russian rock musicians, then you would never have had normal and good-sounding instruments Xsezz heard. Tsoi was 20 years ahead of his time. Such quality sound, such a laconic and sincere style, such unique vocals and an image inspired by Bruce Lee and Ian Curtis (rock-band "Joy Division") - without producers, prof. studios, sound engineers (everything was done by the “Kino” musicians themselves), without money, with a ban on TV, without training in vocals and playing techniques - you would have been in Russia for another 20 years and wouldn’t have even come to know such music
