The comments on this video alone show exactly why Hamilton has had to take the stance he has Such a shame that so many people (sadly too many commenters on this video included) get hung up on Hamilton’s skin colour and him fighting for equality for others that don’t have the opportunity or platform to do so themselves as if it’s some personal attack against them. They’re big part of the problem he’s fighting. If you don’t like Hamilton talking about this stuff and raising awareness, take a look in the mirror and educate yourself. You’re part of the problem.
There is absolutely zero evidence of any 'racism' in F1, and the driving line-up is as 'diverse' as you can get - there are 14 different nationalities, ethnicities, languages and cultures on that grid, unless Lewis and Sky are saying that all White Europeans are the same and just one mono-cultural and mono-racial blob? I assume that Lewis and Sky also believe that the NBA and NFL are 'too black' and need more 'diversity' right? They are stirring up racial issues that do not exist, people want to watch racing not watch a rich privileged black guy talk about how 'bad' he has it because of his skin colour.
Do you really think everyone opposing anything Hamilton says it's only due to racism against him? As long as we fight for equality of opportunities count me in, if the focus is: - equality of outcome no matter the reason/s behind. - because of it, believe there is a problem of a certain level as a fact and call or suggest those who just disagree oppresors or enablers of it/them, I'm out. If certain people really think there is more racism as many other people think, they should proove it so more people would join their view. If they just dismiss any disagreement with contempt or even insults, I believe they will increase society division and actually increase the delay for society improvements. And I believe this kind of approach is happening, and not only on the racism topic. It's hard but we have to let aside as much as possible our biases and try to improve society based on research.
This isn't a fight against any other race this is a fight for equality AGAIN THIS ISNT A FIGHT AGAINST OTHER RACES THIS IS A FIGHT FOR EQUALITY HOW CAN ANYONE BE OFFENDED THAT
The issue isn't the laudable wish to see equality in all things it's the idiot, selfish, self-aggrandizing, condescending, and inappropriately placed, manor in which it is done. Consider the playground: A bunch of kids are playing a game, one child seems to be excluded, do you: 1) Go over and invite him to join in? 2) Point out the seemingly excluded person to your playmates and castigate them for your perception of their bad behavior? Is anybody going to be happy with the latter? Is it possible that dissension and resentment may be seeded where that was none before? Might I suggest posting with caps-lock on is not a good substitute for reasoned debate?

Not directing this at Lewis or anyone else, obviously there are diversity issues in F1 but maybe part of it is to do with money rather than racism because of people's skin colour. I think Lewis though is and should be an inspiration for other BAME people to join motorsport. Everyone should want to end racism. However, BLM is another thing entirely.
If you look at it from a UK POV and drivers, you actually have a fairly representative driver pool. 5% are black and 5% are Asian; exactly like the UK population. We don't recruit solely from the UK, but to be honest, most of these drivers are rich kids from Monaco. That demographic is also predominantly white.
The way I see it, if Hamilton really cared about getting more black drivers in the sport he would set up a driver academy for black kids and give back that way also let’s not forget how many sponsorships Hamilton got as a kid just because he was black, that hardly sounds like he’s had it rough
I notice that those with a negative view of Lewis comment on why, and give their reasons. Those who defend Lewis tend to attack the person making the comment. Hamilton was actually going to be champion until the penultimate race, in which he was leading in Chine but the team left him hanging with slicks on heavy rain for one lap too much, and he made the critical mistake (probably the worst he's ever made, cost him a championship) to go too fast on the pit lane and docked it into the gravel. He would have been champion on his rookie season agaisnt one of F1's all time greats (Alonso) Both of them are my absolute favorite drivers, no question, and I've sern from many interviews - from both - that they have a lot of respect for one another

@@ashleydaniels1132 Well said friend!
The comments on this video alone show exactly why Hamilton has had to take the stance he has
Such a shame that so many people (sadly too many commenters on this video included) get hung up on Hamilton’s skin colour and him fighting for equality for others that don’t have the opportunity or platform to do so themselves as if it’s some personal attack against them. They’re big part of the problem he’s fighting.
If you don’t like Hamilton talking about this stuff and raising awareness, take a look in the mirror and educate yourself. You’re part of the problem.
Oppose and you prove my point. "The moon is made of cheese. The more you deny it, the more obvious you make the point."
As long as we fight for equality of opportunities count me in, if the focus is:
- equality of outcome no matter the reason/s behind.

The issue isn't the laudable wish to see equality in all things it's the idiot, selfish, self-aggrandizing, condescending, and inappropriately placed, manor in which it is done. Consider the playground:
A bunch of kids are playing a game, one child seems to be excluded, do you:
1) Go over and invite him to join in?
2) Point out the seemingly excluded person to your playmates and castigate them for your perception of their bad behavior?
Is anybody going to be happy with the latter? Is it possible that dissension and resentment may be seeded where that was none before?

The way I see it, if Hamilton really cared about getting more black drivers in the sport he would set up a driver academy for black kids and give back that way also let’s not forget how many sponsorships Hamilton got as a kid just because he was black, that hardly sounds like he’s had it rough
Money is the ONLY factor

Sandra Fan what so there’s racism in mechanics now?? Come on
I notice that those with a negative view of Lewis comment on why, and give their reasons. Those who defend Lewis tend to attack the person making the comment. I am just sick of politics invading sport. Apparently that makes me a bad person. Intentionally or not Lewis has driven a wedge into the F1 community. Liberty, Sky and Merc must be quietly crapping themselves.
100% wrong, that is what drove the wedge in the sport and most sports, racism! so when he talks about it,must he be a "GOOD BOY"? as in : 'boy' in a DEROGATORY manner? people are tired of having to play good boy. and they also defending what has happened in a lot of peoples lives. its so easy to say leave it alone. hoping it will go away. but here we are, that is what happens when people dont talk up about it and when one does...ooo look at him upsetting the apple cart. -people are fickle. they forget how their forefathers brought this on themselves. yes, grabbed land in Africa,Asia, etc, enslaved people, and then still have the audacity to ask why? really? history teaches us many things. at least he is saying in what he believes in and not backing down like a "good boy"....

Always liked his driving, ever since I was an infant.
Wish people would overlook the personal choices of a man and focus on his craft for the own sport that they love. He's unlike anyone else I've ever seen, with the exception of maybe Alonso (whom he still beat in his rookie season, in the same car).
Only GP winner in every season over the course of a career, even in seasons like 09' when my favourite team (McLaren) could not produce a good car - B spec was alright but not able to really contest a title
How did he beat Alonso? they got the same points. But yes, extremely well done as a rookie.
@Rodrigo Largely agree but why should people overlook his personal choice? Lewis is forcing the sport to be environmental and socially conscious. A move that will benefit our lives and the lives of our children for generations to come. The likes of Ali, Dr.MLK and even Ganhdi wasn't universally loved at the time of their protestation. In fact, they were widely hated.
I think most people do overlook that sort of thing. In my opinion the only time most people think about it is when it’s constantly talked about.
Richard they had the same number of wins so the decision came down to most second places, hence why Hamilton was classified 2nd and Alonso 3rd. Either eay, it wad expected to ser Alonso topping a rookie teammate, coming from 2 consecutive double championships and getting into the 2nd/arguably 1st car of the season (Ferrari was a bit more consistent).
He would have been champion on his rookie season agaisnt one of F1's all time greats (Alonso)
Both of them are my absolute favorite drivers, no question, and I've sern from many interviews - from both - that they have a lot of respect for one another
William Baker i agree. Still, I love F1 and my love for the sport always overcomes the antics of the personalities of the drivers
everyone should learn about eugenics, transatlantic slave trade colonisation and exploitation of the indigins, to have an in-depth understanding of racism.

@@WaveFlightSimulations The hiring practices in F1 are not to do with "racism". They're to do with widespread societal inequalities. Although we shouldn’t ignore racism within F1, there’s no women. I think that’s a more pressing issue?
I mean if you actually listened to Hamiltons past interviews, this is an issue he also strongly adresses. He talks about diversity not just being about black people but also about giving more opportunities for women and Lgbtq people to get into formula 1. Also one issue cannot just be adjudged to be more important than the other, we should be working TOGETHER to solve both.

Its just the simple fact that there isnt a woman fast enough to get into F1 yet...
@@Marc98338 You didnt read my comment properly Marc. I didnt mean specifically as drivers, Formula 1 is a vast industry with a plethora of jobs available. Engineers, pit crew, catering, comms, data analysis, strategist and so many more jobs are available. Yet we dont see nearly enough diversity/women in f1 amongst those roles. Thus leading them to feel ostricised from the sport and feeling as though they dont have a place or channel into f1. That needs to change, in order to also encourage women/ ethnic minorities to try get into F1. F1 as a whole has to do much more. People can belittle his achievements by pointing to the car all they like but he has ultimately proven himself to be one of the greatest f1 drivers to ever do it. Yet he is the only black driver to this day to ever compete in f1. Many dont get the opportunity or dont feel like they are welcome in f1, thus never have the chance to show their ability. I think f1 needs to create a culture where it welcomes everybody regardless of gender or ethnicity/nationality etc.

I hope Lewis does bring about some change with his commission. No matter how much bald-ass boomers like to argue against it there clearly is a lack of BAME or female representation in all motorsports and Lewis using his influence to bring about the social change needed to fix that could be a more important legacy in the sport than any championship record.
