Serial Shoplifter Arrested for Stealing Oxtail Meat at Hoboken ShopRite

- Around 4:45 PM on April 16, 2024, Sergeant Dennis Figueroa and Officer Harold Milne with the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting involving a serial shoplifter at ShopRite on 900 Madison Street. They entered the store around they walked upstairs to the loss prevention office. In the loss prevention office, they met with Felix as well as the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as 44-year-old Manuel Rodriguez.
The loss prevention officer informed the officers that the man placed $154.47 worth of oxtail meat into a reusable bag, walked past the self-checkout area, and attempted to exit the store without paying for the oxtail meat. When they were informed that the store wanted to press charges, Manuel was placed under arrest for shoplifting. He was handcuffed and searched, and the officers found him to be in possession of prohibited items as well as a significant amount of cash. Once he was preliminarily searched, he escorted to the patrol car and transported to police HQ for further processing.
At police HQ, he was searched in more detail. While completing the paperwork related to this arrest, it was discovered that he had outstanding warrants from Bayonne and Jersey City. He was subsequently charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.

'Atsa what happens when a cut gets popular. I last shopped in a ShopRite 3 1/2 years ago. For the NYC Metro area their prices were fair.
I cannot grasp why so many people insist on shoplifting from this obvious sting-house of a store. 😂
This store has so much theft they cannot possibly catch even ten percent of what is going on. They have to focus one thief at a time while there are 20 others stealing in every aisle.

Exactly. They think "that's what insurance is for" but they don't realize the loss causes insurance to go up and that makes prices go up and it affects everyone in the community that shops at that store or any store.

Like chicken wings and ribs. My father worked in a small grocery store as a teen. The owner was the butcher and used to give my dad the wings to take home to my grandmother to make soup stock with, otherwise he threw them out. No body wanted to pay for them.
The reason is demand. Our poorer parents, grandparents learned to make every inch of an animal usable, no waste. They made things like lasagna, meatloaf, dumplings or perogy to stretch the protein/ filling to feed the entire family for little money.

It’s actually cost a lot of $ to live in Hoboken unless you get into the section 8 part of town. Those buildings you see across from the store probably cost a million dollars for a condo, Eli Manning lived about 6 blocks from there when he was playing. Look up real estate in Hoboken, NJ, you will be absolutely amazed.
