Fuck no. For McLaren it was the Marlboro with the dayglow white and the striking red. But, overall, it's definitely Lotus black with golden trim. Nothing will ever beat that.
BadTrip marlboro maybe had more years with mclaren but it will be remembered with the red car, and the west livery was beautiful I think west and vodafone mclaren were gorgeous cars
GlacialWolf+ Not every Finn ages so well. Another former F1 driver Mika Salo looks a lot older than Häkkinen, even though he's just two years older. However, my mother is in her mid-forties and she looks pretty much the same she did in her twenties. I'm actually rather curious when she'll transform into a granny. I mean, isn't that what you're supposed to do when you get old? I don't understand how she can get away with disobeying the laws of nature.
I've always been a Schumacher fan, but i respect his talent, his passion to racing. I have to thank You also those great memories Mika, You were the best opponent to Michael, You really pushed him to the limit like no one else.
Please dont make me laugh. Modern Kimi is not happy with the regulations and not the real Kimi. The Kimi I mean is 2003-2007 Kimi at McLaren. Also Michael. Alonso would have no chance. Its obvious. Beating Old Kimi is not much to write home about.
I always liked Häkkinen. He was a talented driver, and at the same time he was not the "bling-bling" kind of guy, he was humble. However, he also had his funny moments. I remember he was often rearranging his hair during interviews because of the wind 😂😂😂 The funniest part was when after he managed to arrange his hair properly, suddenly the wind became so strong his hair was on his eyes 😂😂😂
I feel sorry for you. You missed out on some of the greatest drivers , prost, Mansell, piquet and of course the Jedi master himself aryton senna .good thing for youtupe, so you kids can history .....
Mclaren take a deal on Renault, but i wouldn't mind if they stuck with Honda, you mentioned you missed Ayrton but when he drove it WAS Mclaren-Honda. with a V6 turbo engine, just like they have now. and they have been competing with Toyota and Nissan with their road-going hybrids. so it really baffles me that Honda can't seem to get a grip on 2 area's in which they have a ton of experience.. the V6 engine they had put in the old Honda NSX which Senna himself had tested around suzuka in 1990. and almost 20 years of experience with hybrids.. starting with the Honda Insight , which they launched to compete against the Prius back in the late 90's.. strange idea here.. what about Nissan for engine supplier? their V6 they put in the Skylines are legend.. and as said together with Toyota and Honda.. one of the leaders in electric/hybrid cars.. so in terms of technology it doesn't sound to strange to me, eventhough the name itself ''Nissan'' isn't really associating itself with Formula 1
As you said it was 20 years ago, engines were nowhere near as powerful as they are now. Collaboration needs to work both ways. All I see is Honda being in F1 McLaren with all their resources on the rest of the car can do nothing because of an underperforming engine
Yes, but again.. the Mclaren-Honda Ayrton Senna won world championship in was a V6 turbo charged engine with 1200 frekkin horsepower. they have build powerful powerplants in the past and they really need to find out what that magic link is they are missing this time. under another video i commented that perhaps honda needs to hire new engineers. perhaps young ones who just been off college. they might not have the experience but they are schooled and perhaps when they look at the data and everything they might see what the current engineers do not. Square Enix, a japanese gaming company did the same when one of their games was extremely poor and below standards.. they put a different team-leader on it who had different visions and now the game is back in business.
I think Mika would be a good choice to lead McLaren. He knows from his glory days at this team how it should perform at all levels so I'm sure he is very much qualified to get McLaren back to form.
When i was a little kid my father and I supported Schumacher's Ferrari. We were blind-eyed Ferrari's fans. As I grew up I realized Mika was the best driver at that time, and I (me and my father) failed to see that. Now I'm 25 and I love him. Apart from Senna, he's the best driver I have ever seen. Only admiration and respect to you, Mika. Please help bring back the old Mclaren winning feel
He was my hero when I was a kid, and he still is. He is the reason, why I love F1 so much, and why I love McLaren so much. West livery, getting up in the middle of the night just to watch FP, it was awesome. God bless you Mika.
Mika Häkkinen is an absolute beast and one of my favourite drivers of all time. He was such a good and fair racing driver which is something that not a lot of drivers have nowadays. He is so talented and he is full of words of wisdom. When Häkkinen speaks... you listen 😊
An absolute gent. I reached out to him on Twitter to wish my older brother a happy birthday, and he did! We were such fans of the Mika and Schumi rivalry. Great years.
Whenever Mika is interviewed I get this uncontrollable wave of nostalgia for that era of F1. Admittedly I was more of a Schumacher fan but Mika was great. It's kinda sad that at the moment McLaren are trading on their past successes at the moment but still it's always great to see Mika.
RESPECT to mika from a schumi fan, i hated this guy when i watched him back then battling with schumi.. nice words of wisdom from one of the greats of F1..
Mika was my introduction to F1, and I still remember watching my first F1 race in '99 at six years old. I never really liked the colour red, and I loved the way Hakkinen drove, even then. I have sketches I did of the 2000 car as a 7-year-old, and I kept on drawing cars right through high-school - I always wanted to study Industrial Design at Uni, basically because of F1, but ended up in graphic design instead. F1 definitely changed my life, and it all started when I saw Hakkinen bringing it against Schumacher.
i have always been a mclaren fan and always will be. not just because of F1 but because of their incredible roadcars too. sometimes you run out of luck, like now with the failing engines, but that's temporarily and for the coming season i hope to see their cars making it to the chequered flag and their drivers (who ever it may be then) on the podium. greetings from a fan from germany.
First it was Senna vs Prost. Then Hakkinen vs Schumacher. Then Kimi/Alonso vs Schumacher. Those were great rivalries. Great times and that's when F1 was way more interesting than it is today.
Im glad to see McLaren be constantly on good points as well. But the hardest thing for them is to get back to the very front. I hope budget limit/roof new cars and regulation changes for next year give them that opportunity
shame on me for not supporting Mika during the late 90s....didn't knew much back then!! guy pushed to the limit and beat The Michael! amazing salute you LEGEND 😎😎😎
i was his fan when i was a kid. best thing was visiting my father during the weekend and watch races with him. i wish i could go back in time when i could get allong with my father. so strange and sad now when i look back. but it was nice and will always be a great memory watching races and cheer for Mika with my father. after he left i was Schumi fan cuz there was no one close to this 2 legends. thank you Mika for all the great memories
Been watching and loving F1 for most of my life. I started watching regularly with my dad as a kid in 1986 when I was 8, and after over 30 years Mika is still one of my all time favourites. Still got that wonderful Finnish sisu, Mika! 🏁👍
Mika personifies the perfect lap for me like almost no other driver. As Martin Brundle said at the time (late 90s, early 2000s), Mika more than anyone else at the time (and perhaps even before) used to be able to ring all the bells on his best qualifying laps: that is to say he would max all three sectors on his best lap. That is incredibly difficult to do when you're competing against an almost psychopath-level competitive guy like Michael. Their qualifying session at Suzuka 2000 remains my favorite qualifying session of all time - two masterful, yet very different racers, pushing each other to the absolute limit on one of the greatest tracks of all time, before it was butchered An underrated legend who had the absolute most beautiful driving style of all. To see what made Mika's style so special, just watch the qualifying sessions of the 1999 and 2000 Austrian Grand Prix at the A1 Ring. No one could touch Mika in that last corner. My favorite sportsman of all time, and I've obsessed over many different sports.
Mika is a gentleman and should receive the title of "Sir MIKA HAKKINEN.Always a lot gentle, educated and principally respectful. Ladies and gentleman, 'Sir. MIKA HAKKINEN'.
Love this team, I was always a Williams guy until they ditched DC and McLaren picked him. I've been a McLaren fan ever since. They're really down at the moment, but I have no doubts of their capacity to climb back up to the top.
Although I'm a Ferrari fan, but McLaren is a winning constructor team too. But Mika Hakkinnen is two things, the greatest driver, & the greatest champion. Mika "The Flying Finn" Hakkinnen, you are the greatest!
You know what Mika, I'll support McLaren and you. Because I've got a racing nickname, " The Flying Rocket" and one half of the name came from you since you are The Flying Finn. The other half is how when I play video games, ride in fast race cars, and drive fast on karts for years like a rocket. That's how I came up the name, "The Flying Rocket". Mika your actually one of my favorite race car drivers ever! From your friend at Indiana in the USA Nick Deluna.
the car itself is great, the really trash thing is the engine. They have a very good chassis and tech, the engine (specially the recovery energy part) is the problem.

When Mika talks, you sit down and listen!
That West livery was the most beautiful livery ever.
Erik Heijden true
Fact!
Fuck no. For McLaren it was the Marlboro with the dayglow white and the striking red. But, overall, it's definitely Lotus black with golden trim. Nothing will ever beat that.
John player special was the best

I was born in 2001, my parents named me after this legend. What an honour
That's brilliant - both my sons have McLaren driver middle names. my eldest in 1996 has Mika. He is still my all time favourite driver, love him.
! yay :D
Mika Kusuma well pretty sure Mika Thambayong will felt honoured too then
keren
I was born in 99. My father wanted to named me after the world champion of the year i was born. And i'm glad Mika was the champion.
this dude doesnt age at all

"failing is easy, but to do the things right, that is challenging" - so Finnish
It takes some SISU to learn too ?
He could teach their icehockey team a thing or two. They have succeeded in failing like champions.
The only driver that Schumacher admitted be afraid of... The Flying Finn
Senna was afraid too. Thats why he chance the team :D
The original flying fin.. only mika.. not.. bot tas
@@jaskajokunen8733 I’m not so sure about that. He has probably changed the team because he wanted a new challenge.

Attila Gábor what about alonso
Alonso was a joke compared to Mika. Even Kimi and MSC in their prime could beat him.
Ciaron Smith really Kimi,🤣🤣🤣 dont make me laugh here,Alonso is skilled enough to beat Kimi i mean look at when they were at Ferrari

I'm continously being surprised how Mika says more during these interviews than during his entire F1 career.

Mika is a true "good-old-days" F1 racer. Look what they've done to our F1 now. I admire Mika for those pure and glory racing days.
