What is 110%. I am no maths mjor but I am pretty sure that is a rediculas mathmatical staement. The fact that I am leaving the channel for good this time ist that Jessie in particular seems to need to get over his self impotance and be les condicending to his/their RUclips fans. To all those loyal followers enjoy the build but I am over and out.

Not trolling here just giving my opinion, is it me or does Jesse seem super controlling and calculating he knows they have milked RUclips for enough money to complete the build and no longer has to suffer filming, I know someone had to think and someone needs to do but the constant whingeing about labour and then spending ages taking rubbish trying to make it look like he knows everything is hard work to watch, he cherry picks his jobs and then Alyssa will do all the grunt work, I don’t know just my view hope there happy with each other and can build the life they want together and not just the life and home Jesse wants x

I don't think they would have been so far behind if Jesse wouldn't have spent so much time pondering over every minute detail and making simple rookie mistakes which makes them do things twice and sometimes three times over. I mean seriously, who drills into concrete with a cordless drill while needing to install 50 or so tapcons around the bottom perimeter foundation. (remember those videos?) He spent a few days on that and then a few weeks later decides to buy the hammer drill. Finally, I think he misses out on a lot of sound advice from commenters here on youtube. Although the work had already been completed by the time the video aired, he still misseds out on some good tips. Plus he says on their videos that he doesn't read the comments but then he'll still go on youtube to learn how to do something. Nice, will watch other how-to videos but cant even read the comments of your own. I, for one, would be so appreciative for any advice I could get and also would take some time,if just for a few minutes, to at least peruse the comments as a kind of thank you to your viewers. But I guess, to each their own.

Great to hear your backing off from your extreme daily schedule. From all your fans in the UK - and there are many - we think you guys are doing an amazing job. I was wondering when this moment would come.. It's pointless and dangerous exhausting yourself for the sake of a constant stream of videos. You guys are legends with an amazing work ethic. Thanks for all your efforts so far, we will take what we get. Lots of love from the UK.

Your channel has grown to the point that you really should have farmed out the editing long ago. There are no doubt hundreds of aspiring film makers in school out there who would love to help out just for the experience and credits of being on a large RUclips channel. You guys need to learn that working SMART is just as important as working HARD.

Take a chill pill Jesse.Your not the first person to build their own house from the ground up. You always have to "twist the knife" when you compare yourself to Allysa. Pound for pound she works circles around you. And by your own admissions many times have cost yourselves time and money. You could not do this build without her..Period! No one would watch or give you money. She lets you "be the boss". She doesn't suffer from being EGOTISTICAL! Good Wishes for your exciting build. Stay Safe 👍

Filming your build doesn't need to involve your normal 10-minute soliloquies to make a 15-minute video. Forget all the edits. Just film a wide shot, time lapse it, and summarize the day in a minute or two.

      @BonnerCountyBlindsandShades 7 лет назад +1

I super agree, if they don't have the time to film I totally understand, but have been doing so much filming up until this point, I think they would regret at least not setting up a time lapse camera so they can look back at it :)

Very glad you two are OK. I'm actually surprised you've been able to knock out this much daily edited video (and I work in film/tv often, so I know just how long it takes to cut something that people will consistently enjoy). In fact, I was involved once in a business venture where I just needed to knock out 20 or so daily stills, and get them edited, captioned, and posted...and even that was hard to do sometimes, when there was a mountain of other work needing to be done! Good luck with this push to the framing event. What you are doing is impressive on so many levels, not the least of which is your dedication to each other. That is inspiring.

RD Jim.....??? You must have just started watching today. Of all of the RUclips channels I watch, I believe this one has more haters and trolls than any other. I wouldn't blame them if they took a few weeks off just to get the venom out from the hits they have taken. Trying to get something accomplished when you are under the scrutiny of a couple hundred thousand "keyboard experts" has to be maddening. Bless them for the progress they have made.

Paul, yes I'm a recent subscriber. But are you talking about people just chiming in on how "they" would do things? or are they getting real mean stuff? • @just-dl
      @just-dl 7 лет назад

RDJim, there's some pretty nasty people around. ONe guy has posted several times on this video, encouraging Alyssa to divorce Jesse. Useless crap like that. But, they're an encouragement to dream big, seem like nice people. THey work well together, though Jesse can be a bit headstrong. (I am not, ahem, in a position to throw stones on that score!) :-) And how many people will be encouraged by these videos to chase their own dreams? Many, I hope.

Do what you've gotta do to get the house built. You owe far more to those traveling to help you out than you do to us watching the videos. It's so much fun to watch you work through this adventure - I've learned a ton from you and the quality of the videos really has been superb.

    1. Take care of your self
    2. Take care of your self
    3. Take care of your self
    4. Build the house
    ...
    100. Publish videos
Even I enjoy "the daily show" I can quite well understand what what it does mean to be an "actor" in front of the camera and in parallel get ahead with the house building. Alisa is doing a excellent job in editing the videos, I always have the feeling I'm on site with you even I'm living in germany. In fact your health is the most precious thing you have ( beside each other ... :) ), take care of yourself, respect each other and make small steps in the build if necessary. When we did build our house it was really exhausting, I was running around like a flat tire or even a zombie. Every day I had to get up a 5 in the morning, jumped over to our house when I was coming home and worked there until 10-12 in the night and it was "just" making slots and holes for electrical installations (building houses from wood is not that common here, majority is made of bricks). Beside that we had a lot of discussions with our contractors ( and with my wife as well - color, bathroom equipment, tiles, ... :) ) about times and what to do. Several times I had fights like "I want it that way ! - Why ? - Because I pay for it and it's MY house !" This alltoghether is really eating up your energy over the time and will cause hard times with your friends and partner. So take care, think about youreself, work safe and enjoy what you did build with your own hands. All the best for your build - it you do release further videos I would be quite happy but if you do not have the time for it it fine as well ! I suggest to see youtube as a bonus and not as a must - completely understanding that it in fact will pay some bills in the end ...

Just remember to eat at meal times. You need the energy for all the hard work you are doing or you will feel tired, frustrated and annoyed. This is probably the biggest deadline in your build so of course the vids need to go to the side. Can you restart regular vids afterwards though if possible? Every week or few days? Your vids are fun. Biggest thing - dont burn yourself out, look after yourselves and stay safe. You guys are fab!

I wasn't going to post but I can't any longer.
Jesse's post a while back about how other youtubers get views was gut turning. This condescending attitude toward viewers about how real video editing works. Just stop man. Get over yourself. I don't claim to know to what extent youtube views has helped financially but for sure venders have been a bit more understanding because you have views. Would this up coming workshop be happening without your youtube views? Even if the school was so inclined to to the class would there have been the same participation?
I don't make videos so I will not comment to what all is involved. The quality of your videos is top notch and you should be proud of it. I just don't care for the tone Jesse responds to viewers that help generate support that benefits them a lot.

Having edited my church videos for years I know how long it takes to produce a quality video. Your priorities are exactly where they need to be. Keep up the good work.

thank goodness, neither of you have sustained injuries. For myself, I am more than happy to wait for properly edited videos. Please be careful and safe in your endeavours. I most certainly look for the finished product no matter how long it takes

Totally understandable !!! Just take good care of yourselves and get all the prep work done before the workshop starts. I have no trouble waiting and get a great video... whenever. Home build has to be first. And, they say it will be a long cold winter... so plenty of time to do video editing later.

I think that the channel on RUclips was created with the purpose of passing the whole experience of life that they propose. Showing the difficulties and the best ways for those who want to follow their paths. They were so expecific in so many things and so many items that were getting through the time that suddenly stop posting videos because of the difficulty of organizing the Workshop in time to leave everything ready for the team that is coming, does not make sense.
It is precisely at the most important point of the canal that is the construction of the house.
All the videos so far posted have gone to this great point and now we are being deprived of this great moment.
I'm sad and here at home I was talking to everyone about the great feat of voices.
But for me it lost meaning and I do not want to see the house already mounted, but the step by step of the whole construction.
Sorry for the outburst, but the feeling is of a great series that ends without solution.
Good luck to you and thank you for the videos posted so far.

You (and, certainly, we) can wait for the video editing and posting. Concentrate on the things that can only be done now, in the present - enjoying each other (and family/friends), performing the work, and documenting the work. And, by documenting, I simply mean getting video footage. Even if that means no more than a couple cameras set up in static locations. Video editing is something that can be done anytime in the future, but you can never recapture the reality of building your own dream.
Thank you for the update to let us know you're well, and thank you for sharing your journey with everyone.

Hello Jesse and Alyssa, We are from Lewiston, NY , just 6 miles from Niagara Falls, NY. We have been watching for some time now and enjoy it very much. In fact we wake up every morning and say " what are our kids up to today" . You have become part of our family!!! Can't wait until you start posting again but get why you are not. Take care , be careful and we know you are having a lot of fun building your dream.

You have to feed the need. The most important part of RUclips is keeping your audience interested. So that means putting out videos no matter what it takes. Or checking in on RUclips live. Or just posting a little blurb as a progress update. Since no one has asked yet, what about your Patreon donations? Those people pay for your videos that aren't being delivered...

If they ask for money to keep the videos going on RUclips then yes it does have everything to do with RUclips.

I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos and your journey in this chapter of your life. I just recently found your channel and have binge watched every one in the last week or so. Your home looks absolutely stunning so far. Keep up the great job and remember to have fun while doing it. You two work so well together. Not everyone can make that happen. Amazing job so far. I’m sure we all cannot wait to see the finished home. Stay safe!

Folks, as much as I like following the process of building your house, I was wondering if you were okay. I think your fans can wait (I can) to see video of the rest of the story. Having built my own home, I know how hard it is, and would never attempt to produce video at the same time! Take a break to focus on the essentials, including yourselves. Speaking as a member of your public, good luck, work safe, take the time to measure twice, cut once. The videos will be all the better for the delayed gratification. IMHO. TTFN!

i admit I missed and looked forward to the videos but I can see you have your heads on straight and your priorities in the correct order.
I'll be patient and look at them when available.
Winter is on the way so getting the building as far along as possible has to be at the top of the list.
    Take care.

As a faithful watcher from my tiny Greek island. I will just wait. We're used to that here; unlike Americans who want everything now. It has struck me that you've given yourselves more work than you needed to at times, but that's an armchair perspective. You're both doing so well in my opinion and managing to keep your marriage together through all the setbacks. No1 is the marriage. No2 is your safety, No3 is the house. No 6, 7 or 8 is us! Siga Siga (slowly slowly) as we say in Greek - will get you there. One big mistake and it could all be over. so I say go a little more slowly and be safe, be sure, be satisfied.

I like watching your videos because you're open and honest about your challenges and mistakes, and quite frankly not trying to be RUclips Superstars but rather, well.. you! As much as I'd like a new video to watch during my lunchbreak I appreciate the fact that you're taking the time to explain what's happening, and I'll happily take any schedule you'll be fine with for a chance to peek into your captivating venture into building a home.
In short: Disregard the naysayers and keep doing things your own way - lots of us anonymous spectators from around the world will love you all the more for it.

Oh boy this is exciting. Having built my timberframe, I remember the days leading up to the raising. You are actually doing all the cutting and frame preparation. That is a ton of work. Enjoy the moment! There is a time to be selfish and enjoy the experience. That planer will save you tons of time. Also, you will have a ton of firewood!

Having a father who was twice Emmy-nominated for video editing, I am acutely aware of the labor involved for doing "quality work". I chose the audio production and mastering route - just to be contrary. ;o) Alyssa, Jesse - not like you NEED anyone to reinforce this, but ignore the trolls. Those of us that are entranced with your story understand. I am undertaking a much smaller scale project - garage/workshop. I have elected to disregard the "edutainment value" the processes involved _could_ represent, but at the end of the day I am much more interested in completed the myriad tasks with finishing the building before the snow arrives.
With the climate having developed as it has on "Social Media", my decision to avoid FB, TW, IG, (ESPECIALLY TW,) it has only served to reinforce that decision by orders of magnitude. It's great to see what you produce for RUclips distribution, and I am sure more than a few of us will look forward to whatever finds its way here.
