I have me a honey hole too that I call "The Porpoise Lair". All I use is oatmeal balls and that line isn't in the water a minute before he's off and runnin. And my pond is stocked with all sizes of Channel Cats. So that's where we go grocery shopping too good buddy. Thanks for sharing all your adventures.
I grew up snagging fish on the Fox River in Wisconsin. Lots of good groceries below the spillway. We caught Everything from bluegills to northern pike. Loved this , a lot. ps : yes , shopping carts and bikes too.
Is this the Horseshoe lake in southern Illinois? If so I did some great Buffalo fishing here decades ago! Best Fresh water fish in my opinion. Only eat the hard side( ribs) best. Fishing the Mississippi from the 314,618,636. Good family channel!

Got to say though I'm not a huge catfisherman but have caught my share for sure threw the years & my P.B. on a rod & reel would be around the 25 lb. Mark & that was caught in a multi spicies fish lake but caught a carp that weighed 34 lbs in a catfish pond once using cut up hotdogs for bait & that thang was 37" long huge one , plus i've shot a few bow fishing also but none that large & some Buffalo also & down in La. shot few saltwater spicies to , like Red Drum , many Sting Ray , couple Black Drum , Steelhead & even some big Sail Fin Catfish ! Love all types of fishing ! GOD BLESS !
My Dad &Mom use to bring back huge Buffalo on hot ice from Arkansas every year when they went on vacation they love eating that fish brings back a lot of memories thank u for sharing!!
I catch most all my nicer big catfish on any kind of Sun Pearch or Bluegill mostly but I have had good success with chicken breast chunks coated in Copland ! Cherry & grape both but seems only to work at sertain places well but perch cut bait is best in my area in South Mississippi besides have done great with shrimp or squid also in ponds & some lakes ! Far as river cats I stick with natural bait Sunfish or perch bcuz there many kinds !

He shouldn't put them back. They're awful for our ecosystem. He should either, eat them, give them away, or humanly dispatch them. As far as eating them goes,... If cleaned and deboned properly, they taste very much like cod. I know there's people on here that will challenge me on this, but if they do, it's because they haven't actually tried it, or they don't know how to properly prepare it. That's the Bighead Carp and the Silver Carp. The Grass Carp don't taste as good to me.
