- A look into the history of how we got into Drag racing! My Grandpa and his 1955 Chevrolet Sparked it all for my dad, and my dad sparked it for me when I got to watch him in his 1971 Nova growing up at the race track every weekend.

Videos like this don’t get as many views, and the watch time isn’t as high. However, the real deal car guys (and girls) appreciate this kind of content. If you’re one of those people, my family thanks you and wants you to know how grateful we are that y’all watch, share, and comment.
We can put pretty girls in the videos and get more views, but the channel is growing steadily. I personally would rather grow the channel and have 200,000 real deal die hard car enthusiasts subscribed, rather than 120k creeps and pervs making stupid comments that have nothing to do with racing.
I think we will get where we want to be some day. But if it’s not based on real life content about real racing, family, and friends... I’d rather just stay digging ditches.
Just my .02.
-Dad
AMEN brother! If I want to see girls there are plenty of other places to go for that. You've done a fine job with those kids and it's nice that you are helping Molly learn about cars and racing as well. Hats off to you man you have a lot to be proud of including yourself.
I love hearing story’s from the old guys racing or war really interesting stuff!
Me and my buddy’s just put a car club together OldHeadzperformance just having fun 👍🏻 we have a few things guns kinda cool they still want to hang with us older guys 52 to 25 ages range all cool people 👍🏻
My mom had a 71 Buick gs 455 that car moved 👍🏻 my sisters boyfriend had a 70 green nova 396 4 speed he’s the one that got me into cars he put all 4 gears of rubber down the street and I was hooked! Hahaha!! Great story’s guys man how the world has changed lol
Bill Hoskinson
Great comment 👍
Yea those stories needs to be on video, if not the stories is gone when those who have them is gone..
I think it's very interesting to listen to your history!
Cheers from Northern Sweden! 🍻
Just found your family’s channel, I am so grateful you guys are sharing your life and racing adventures! I’m building a 1980 all original c20 sleeper 130,000k on it, gonna build a boosted 406sbc, you are a massive inspiration and I will be supporting the channel, buying some clothing! Keep up the quality content
I personally think what you guy's do is absolutely awesome!! I like all the vids, all the best too you guys,God bless
3 generations. .. what a video. ..my favorite video I've watched in a long while .. thank you for your time
Absolutely agree!
It’s nice to see Billy pay some respect to his dad and Grandfather, young men look up to him and for him make a video that really is more than how it started, he shows a lot of respect in this video. I hope others see this in his interview.
the part with your grandpa is worth millions brother. really blessed.
To Billy’s folks:That’s how it’s done!Good parents and great kids.Love the channel and have a great season.Look forward to watching. Thanks
23:03 I almost shed a tear to see and hear a father acknowledge his son is what its all about great job guys
That is a great story. I grew up hearing stories of my Grandfather, Father and Stepdad telling race stories and talking about cars, motors ect. i also bought my first car at 15. owned 2 before i could even drive. my cousin and i were huge gear heads. bought my first car i actually drove legally at 16. found it behind a house and made payments all summer. then towed it home. 72 ElCamino, 400 sbc with a 4spd and homemade traction bars. had to put a clutch in it and tinker with it. love that car. life long obsession. took all my kids to the local track when i raced. now i take my grandsons. hopefully they will get the bug too. i got out of racing aboout 12 yrs ago and now i just have a few hot rods to cruise the streets. but the track is calling me. awesome video, Great family and you are very blessed young man to have your grandfather around. both mine passed on years more than 10 yrs ago. i think about them daily and all they taught me. i hope to be that for my grand kids.
Love to hear your grandpa talk about the old times . Seems like a great man ..
Absolutely. It’s priceless. Both my Grandads are long gone, but I think of both , daily...
Nothing better than stories from days gone by. Thanks for sharing this stuff. This is what separates this channel from all the others
Best racing channel on RUclips just my opinion though!!! I can see the passion each of carry for the sport . Great camera work keep them videos coming!!!!!
I could sit and listen to old school stories all day. This is very cool and 1 day, your kid will be adding his chapter to this...
I had high expectations for this video and you fulfilled them my friend! Excellent job! Your story is almost play by play my story. Keep doing what you're doing, you're a cool kid and your dad has every reason to be proud!!!
Best car channel...... period!!!!! Grass roots , family Americana.... keep kicking ass!!!
One of my favorite videos you've made, and to know your Grandpa still has the car that started it all. 👍👍
Please knock the dust off that jewel and make some videos!!!
Agreed
If or when you decide to have kids, they’ll be able to take all this footage and they’ll be interviewing you as well and make their own video. That’s pretty fucking awesome to think about just knowing the family history behind it all, and imagining your future generations passing down all the knowledge. I wish I could be in your shoes man. Much love to y’all, Kid.
I am a hardcore FORD guy, but I love this channel, That little truck rocks!! Great content and not over the top with EGO.Well done my friend well done You are so very lucky to have such a great family by your side. Never forget that.
Editing, music, content, all top notch. You only get this type of quality when you're dealing with people who have passion. Fantastic job,
Totally agree, this is in their blood.
This is what I'm talking about Billy ! Bill , you did a great job with this boy , and it was nice to hear about the family legacy . I look forward to more of this. Good luck ,and hope to see your boys making hits in those trucks , don't forget about getting that nova back together, it's a legacy item that means a lot to those two boys and you.
I could sit out on the front porch and listen to that guy all day long great video
Every time I wear my SRC shirt in public some recognizes your channel! Love what you guys are doing and can't wait for new content!
Grandpa stories are always awesome!!
Watching this took me back to my days with my gramps and father. Amazing video. That ole 55' needs resurrecting. Make a video with all 3 generations inside going Zoom. I also vote for a 55 tshirt.. "We all love to go Zoom"
I think I got cheated somewhere, it said it was a 31 1/2 minute video but it felt like it was over in minutes. You have a great family and you need to cherish that because in time they will be gone. I just recently lost both my parents, lost my grandpa is 81, and my grandma in 94, an older brother in 76. Keep up the AWSOME content!! 🤣⛽🏁🏁🎥🚦
Great video and story guys, thank you!
I often dreamed about having this kind of experience with my Dad, but it couldn't ever happen.
My first "car" at age 13 was a 1956 Chevy shortbed pickup. I earned it mowing yards. My second car was a blue 1955 Chevy with a 265 V8 and a powerglide transmission. I earned it by hauling hay all summer. I drove them all over my grandparent's farm. The 55 would get vapor locked and I'd have to wait for an hour or so before it would start again and then off we would go until it happened again. I didn't have anyone to help me. My Dad was killed in a farming accident when I was 4 years old and my stepfather never cared enough about me and my two brothers to ever help us do anything. I learned driving and mechanics all on my own by just doing it and reading Chiltons & Haynes books to keep my old cars running.
Good stuff guys! One of my first street races was against my Dad and he whooped my ass! I tried to beat him a few times never got it done, he has passed away a few years back and I'll never forget the memories ! Keep up the good work and be safe.
The best Content racing channel on youtube .
my grandpa had a black/white 55... watching this video brought back so many memories! Love your channel! Keep up the good work. Good luck !!!!
At 9:01 you can see the memories flowing. Priceless. Excellent Video.
Nice to see other people that relate on "never being fast enough". Every time I make a pretty big jump in ET/MPH it feels fast for maybe one or two passes then I am ready for more lol.
The best ever... The American Dream of Street Racing!!! Thanks for this inspiration to share with the whole family!!!
Thanks Billy!!!
Your pops saying that your win in the Nova really made me think about my dad being proud of me. Big shout out to your father ..
Bill, Billy and Tommy, you guys have a real gift for making these videos. They really draw in the viewer, and give them a very palpable sense of just how special this family really is. I've been a die hard car guy since before I was old enough to drive, and always wished my dad shared my love of cars, but he never did. I wanted desperately to find a way to make a living racing, but he always told me that racing cars cars will never pay the bills, and that I should get an good education and prepare for making money to support a family. I hated school with a passion, and managed to stay in a fair amount of trouble. Cars were the only thing in my 57 years of living that has ever held my interest. At this point I've taken it to extremes with 4 second turbo cars, but I can't even put into words how much it would have meant to me to have been doing this with my dad like you guys are doing. My dad and I get really well and I have so much respect for his accomplishments in life, but I took a very different path. I went to work in a factory right out of high school and married when I was 21. We had two children, a son who will be 31 Friday, and my daughter who will be 27 in April. We divorced in 98. Thank God for my new next door neighbor, who is still my best friend to this day. He is 11 years older than me, and his oldest son is 13 years younger. We have all raced together since 97. My neighbor has been like a surrogate big brother to me for 23 years, and I suppose I've been like a big brother to his eldest son. When I watch your videos, I see us. I have thousands of pictures from the 15 or so years of racing with them on my FB page photo albums, but what I would give to have had video like you guys have had. As I get older, family and friends more to me than can explain. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay close as a family always! People grow up and grow apart too quickly. Never let it slip away. My neighbor moved back to Buffalo three and half years ago, and at the same time his oldest son moved his family to Navarre Florida. They left their car here with me, and we said we'd keep racing together, but it hasn't happened yet. I've honestly been pretty lost ever since they moved. Watching your videos reminds me of how much I need to get my car back together and get back to racing and renew old friendships. Life is too short and I've let 3 years slip away while I worked and came home and watched life passing me by. Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to let you know how much I love the channel and love watching your family and shop time together. Best of luck in the future! I hope I get to meet you guys at a track somewhere some day.
Great reminiscing with your father and grandfather, enjoy those times with your family Billy.
man that put a tear in my eye ....love it cant wait to meet you guys someday
I love stories like this, my grandpa was a car mechanic and we would sit and talk about cars, and the things they did for power back in the days. Damn I miss that
Best video yet , man y'all brought tears from me my heart felt it all .
I remember my dad and his stories of racing his car .
I believe y'all brought back memories for me I hadn't remembered in years .
Thank you all for your stories of the past .
This is how it's done
( Family)
Excellent back story video. I really liked the content with your Grand Dad and his '55 Chevy with your Dad getting launched into the back seat. Those are great memories / family stories.
I'm guessing I'm about your Dad's age, and remember riding the school bus home as a kid, and seeing cool cars tucked away behind garages and barns, and riding my bike to the people's homes and trying to buy those cars.
This video jogged some great memories.
Speed safely Bud
You are quite a young man dude. Keep doing what makes you happy. Find you a career related to racing and you wont ever work a day in yojr life man. Be safe god bless and your dad should be proud of you and yoh him as well
You Guys are Bad Ass and A Real American Family I Love The Stories they are Bad Ass I can’t wait to see Molly’s car and your Brothers new truck!! I hope the best for you all this year!!! Keep pumping out the killer content!!! God Bless!!!
Pops & grandpa sound the exact same, if I wasnt watching I couldn't tell the difference 💪. Cherish it bud we all wished we had this.
Drag racing just feels like "home". Can't put it any other way. My dad passed on the love of cars and drag racing to me as well. Your channel is my favorite on RUclips and TV for that matter. Thanks for all you do man. You touch a lot of hearts with these videos and hurt lots of feels with that killer S10. Keep Gaptizin the ones with balls big enough to line up next to u. 👊🏼💥Be safe out there Billy, looking forward to much more.
I remember that Nova showed up at Edgewater about 15-20 years ago at a big dollar race won the race and was gone before anyone could talk to him. Like who the hell was that guy ?
Wow Billy super awesome video bring a tear to my eye watching all your family and how you grow up God bless your whole family and thank you for all the videos you have bring to us I hope your new season is awesome bro
From humble beginnings. Best video yet. Love the stories and the history. If you keep racing you will never have enough money for drugs and alcohol thats for sure! Love the channel and the grassroots build it in your garage vibe for sure.
What an amazing story and a great family... these are the kinda story's you'll be telling your kids but now you have him on video that's wonderful
Love hearing the old car stories. I’ll never forget the days when I was little hanging out with dad and his buddies at the drag strip. Thank you for sharing the memories!
Great story and passion
I dont regret one race. My brother is the one that got my blood into it. I stopped a long time ago and now i have a little ford st. Drive it to work. I can do big horsepower anymore, but i'd love to spin that little car up and make it fast. You guys make memories roll through my head and make me want to go build something quick. First car i ever took down a road in a race was a monza with a 350 in it. I'll never forget that car.
Ur grandpa sounds just like ur dad. Lol. Love the channel
What A Video. Thank you for sharing. Three generations of men and they all have the same mannerism in front of the camera - telling a compelling story and not looking directly into the camera BUT the soul is still there. Three generations sharing a story of hard work, engineering, passion and fun. The love of the family is there. There is genuinely love of family in this video with a race story! I don’t know you or where you live but this guy from Arizona can connect to it. My connection to my father is through trucks - He is a GMC guy and I am a Ford but we still love working on our trucks together - we don’t race but we love to build things that last because we are not a rich family. We have a ranch and we need trucks that are strong and reliable. The same connection to detail of your work is something I admire. Thank you so much for this video to remind me of the things that last!
Awesome video! I hope someday you can make the 55 badass!
It’s amazing how Billy’s grandpa sounds just like his father. What an amazing family.
Omg! Great video this has to be yalls best one yet your dad got me when he said his best moment with the Nova was when you won in it that was real . And I agree with another comment you guys as a family need to bring the 55 out and clean it up do something with it . Go zoom is where it starts t-shirts woukd be great along with a t-shirt that has the 55 on it saying something like grass roots or where it all started . Again great video
That's awesome content. That's what it's all about.... Following in the footsteps. I lost my dad at 16 but I know he's smiling down on me every pass.
This would make a great fathers day episode.
That was a great video billy. To see how it all started was a treat im looking forword to this season of videos from you. You and your pops are how it is done. Your dad is a great dad keep having fun billy you the man
Man this is a awesome story and history. A very good video. I said it a few times in the past about my history and this sounds identical to my family and I history. My racing started with my grandfather running a 57 Chevy in 58 and from there it's history. Keep digging man.
Love the content on your channel... Your dad cracks me up
I could listen to stories like this all day!!!!
Awesome story man. Seeing You & Your Dad work and race together is awesome. Enjoy every minute You have with each other.
I have been watching all of your videos they are all great but this video is by far the best one thanks for sharing your family history.
Another great video
There’s that one car for everyone
For me it was a black 68 Nova with a 427 And a big white snorkel hood!
It belonged to a guy named David Ray Chapman
He use to sneak me out when my mom was visiting neighbors( I was maybe 9-10)
The car was a beast of a car
I never forgot that car
Even now the smile still creeps back when I think of it
Billy got same bug Sr got. I love that lil Truck you have Billy.
Thank you for sharing that with us! Your Family history is what makes are country the greatest place in the world. Next time you are in North Carolina I would like to meet you and your Dad. God bless you and your family!
Amazing video billy!!! Love how you started out with grandpa and worked your way down. Everytime I take my son out in my car he yells do a burnout at every light. Lol love your passion!
Awesome video always remember where the passion came from
Love this you all we all need to do this with our grandparents and family period.
"all 3 of us in tha front seat,," Yep,, that's how we done it back in tha day. I was a street racer "back in tha day" too. 1962 I had a '53 Ford flathead 8 with a Meling full race cam, 3 on tha tree, it too was all we had but we ran the streets and downtown 6th and Broadway Portland, Oregon "lite to lite" EVERY weekend. Almost never won but didn't matter, we had a blast anyway.
I'm going to the garage and getting to work on my car...thank you for the inspiration video! You guys have a fan for life! Really brought me back and made me remember why I started my build and why I never sold my first car!!! Real car guys know exactly what I'm talking about!
Damn bubba, this is your best work so far! you've done A LOT of great videos, but this one tops them all! When you said you was going to start with your papa and his 55 chevy....i had cold chills!
Question, you ever been invited to anything in upstate South Carolina?
After charger dad went to 70 Nova rally sport 4 speed car aswell and I fell in love with Nova's after being sideways threw three years.thanks I needed a trip down memory lane I have kids now I am gonna find a nova
This is the best video y'all have put out. All of us "car guys" have a similar story, getting our first hot rod, the sound of it running for the first time, the thrill of rolling into the throttle and it coming alive!! Keep up the content
glad you and the family and molly are keeping the spirit alive for those who cant get out and do it,,THANK YOU ALL
Good story that was really interesting I am glad you turned out good like your dad started out for you you have got one bad ass s10 be safe
talk about a Drag Week car with a GREAT story!!!!
Best video by far, Racing is definitely a family member who can bring the family closer and bring things you will never forget
Loved this! It's cool as hell that you have all kept your rides for so long and how everything kind of relates to family morals, even the 55 being sold because the sale was promised. Great video.
The best video yet, loved see your grandpa and dad taking. No question were you got the bug. 👊
nsrvtqc are you from Nova sc
Nova Scotia?
Piece of Chevy Nova Scotia
I'm here from sackville N.S.
I think this was one of the best Videos ever. Grandpa still has the 55, that is way cool. Love the insight on what got you guys into this stuff. This is what makes you guys great!!!
Really have enjoyed this FAMILY! First that’s what it’s all about, family. The first time we watched was the “moonshine “ episode. My son and I watched again other day, then I realized this wasn’t some big time,( meaning BIG CORPORATIONS) group. I grew up with a family farm here in NC. Unfortunately my dad , nor grandad were racers. Thanks for providing a great, wholesome, family and friends oriented, series. You now have 5 more subscribers too. Keep em coming....
Omg 💙💙💙💙 I love hearing old man stories. You come from a long line and always respect that...... By the time I was old enough everybody was out of it. 😔 So i did my own thing. Which was never nothing like you guys get to do. Keep it real Bill and keep it in the groove. 👍💪✌️
Uguys are awesome loved the stories im 41 and id give anything to have days like this with my dad..we had a 72 duster with a 340 bored 40 over the baddest engine ive ever seen we could not blow it up..i think it was haunted..(demon) infused.
Try to alway remember those days all the to end unfortunately i dnt have good memories like tat
there is no other "motorized" channel with this quality of content! jzuz! this is just top notch!
Thanks for the history....your family rocks like most midwest racing family's!
I made it to four minutes...best video y'all have ever put up.
What a great video!!!! You and your Dad are alot alike, now it all makes perfect sense. Can't wait to see and hear the upgrades on the S-10 come spring... Keep doing what you do, win races!!! 👍👍👍
Absolutely my favorite SRC video! I loved listening to your Grandpa talk about his 55, but to find out that he still had it gave me goosebumps.
I also got some dirt in my eye listening to Bill tell about your win in the Nova. Love it!
I love hearing the old stories.. My dad still has his 55 chevy and I'm building my second 57 chevy. Dad's 75 and I'm 53. I bought my first 57 for $250 and pulled it to mom and dad's with a tractor..LOL I was 13
Our stories are so similar, as ol’ hank said its a “family tradition”! God bless and “ go zoom”
Very cool video showing how this disease we call racing got in your blood! Thanks for sharing this behind the scenes really adds some understanding to what this life really MEANS to a lot of us!
Was excited to see you dropped a new video especially since I'm sitting here at work and not at Civil War in Leakesville.... thanks for making my day better. Awesome video man!! Keep doing what you do and cant wait to see the truck making passes again
Whoever does the editing and camera work is doing an excellent job.
Simple Man Billy edits, Tommy videos. I made sure he got some slow motion stuff at my dads house. That old glassware and antiques are who my family are.
@@theoldmansgarage Love it! The antiques brought back some good memories of my Grandparents as well.
I'm a ford guy but damn ya can't beat this. Probably the best channel I've seen. 👏👏🔥🔥
Good story. Love hearing how people got started and where it began.
It's awesome seeing the generations in racing continue.
Awesome job and love the history of your family and the racing. You are kicking ass with the channel and on the street. Need the podcast back....
Need some zoom shirts
Thank you for sharing your family's story. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Setting here petting our red heeler reminiscing about racing with y'all as ur petting ur heeler lol! Great story's and family!
Congrats Bill on realizing old facts like you and me still have some useful days in us! 👍👍
Great story and thanks for sharing. Keep going Zoom! 😁
More I love the old story's esp when someone one says I busted there ass! I grew up watching my dad rip through gears in his 71 Dodge charger 383 mag.fact 4 speed any time we saw my uncle in his 70 gto with 455 four speed it was on.dad passed 2 years ago now and my fav memory is that look as he yanked the shifter almost out of the floor.and that dodge almost floating valves he got every inch of power out of that motor
