- This video was used in training courses conducted for training of Pan Am flight attendants in the 1980s.
Special thanks to Linda Reynolds for saving a collection of safety and training VHS tapes from the Pan Am Flight Academy in Miami, Florida after the airline closed on December 4, 1991.

I just watched this entire video for absolutely no reason other than RUclips suggested it. I fricking enjoyed the hell out of it. I need psychological help, don't I.
I get the feeling there’s a large group of us in the same boat 😂😂😂
Lmao I’m watching it now for the exact same reason no my friend you don’t need help. It reminds me of a watered down version of Clue without the slapstick humor.
@@ecthelion222 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mr Dursley AND Patrick from Eastenders in an American training video is something I didn't know I needed today.
I'm only 5 minutes in and I already suspect Detective Chicken Nugget in the dining area with the spork
When I was in customer support for WordPerfect corp in the 90s, we were shown this video. I never forgot 'behavior breeds behavior'.
I've actually been searching for this video for YEARS. In the early 2000s, Hechts department stores used this as their customer service training video. I ADORE IT. It is SO British and so odd.
When I went to Macy's several years later I saw an updated one with a woman and wondered where the old version was.
And then I saw Harry Potter and was like "I dreamt this video where Mr Dursley jumps in a lake..."
Watching from the beginning 'til about the middle, I had no idea where this was going. Now, I'm reminded of the episode "Small Opening" from "Ab Fab"...the actress playing Eddy in Saffy's play turning to the rest of the cast backstage, "I knew it was a comedy , go for it, kids!!"
Amtrak used this video in my new-hire class in 1990.
Did anyone else recognize Richard Griffiths AKA Vernon Dursley from Harry Potter?!
THANK YOU! He looked familiar but I couldn't place from where!
Indeed it is! His funniest role was in Withnail and I.
Patrick Yeah Man...
Given the rise in disturbances in the skies today, I suppose this video is sorely in a need of an update.
“Some people are just arseholes. Here’s how to open the emergency door in flight.”
While I think people in general need customer service refreshers, I'd say the biggest issue is actual insanely entitled customers; the customer service reps are usually not the problem.
Computer says no. That's the problem.
Wait ... Richard Griffiths? **looks at credits** holy cow!

Before the world went insane. Remember the good times.
This video is probably 20 years before Harry Potter, yet his uncle looks exactly the same
Tom Bell never could get away from copper portrayals..... I recognize George Innes and Diane Fletcher as well. Most of the other faces familiar. Then came the credits. Glad to see they got billing. All registered on IMDB as well. Who would be in an update?
Apparently it was updated in 2000, with Dawn French playing the Hapless role.
they call me the nugget of the yard lol
I’d have loved it if that detective had a bit of Basil Fawlty in him.
i just want to know one thing ...where is Linda??!!!😤
Open Arms Hotel?!
Bob’s your uncle
He told him to drop dead he MUST be the murderer. Lol shall I call the police now sir? Lol I’m enjoying this peculiar behavior. It reminds me of who stole the red queen’s tarts?!
Does anyone else watching this video actually work in customer service as well? I cringe at their snotty behavior and get pleasure when they’re nice to him bc I’ve been doing it for 15 years. But, no the customer is not always right but this poor bloke got rotten treatment right before he drowned. Lol god.
Idc if this is my third comment. Every time he asks shall I call the police I laugh so hard. Dammit I AM the police! Yes I know but… this is my only job to ask if you need law enforcement unnecessarily sir I don’t know what else to do other than pour the bloody tea. Also, his name is mr. Hapless I love the pun.
