Rebekah probably would take too much time, resources and money to recycle those. Plus if it’s a return it wouldn’t be sanitary since we don’t know what the customer did to the product

Just Ashley believe it or not somebody in your city is already driving to every bath and body works/ulta dumpster and diving already. I know cause I tried it and it was wiped out. But you should definitely try it. It’s embarrassing but worth a try and take gloves it is gross lol
I mean, what’s the worst that can happen? Someone telling you to stop and go away? Just try it! I’ve tried it a few times all but one time did I get lucky with a few blushes from ulta that were broken that I then repotted. Give it a go! 😁
Try free standing stores, instead of the mall. My town has a free standing ulta but not a BBW. But the town my friend lives in has a free standing BBW. I've never done this BUT if I did, that's what I'd try.
Be careful, a lot of the time people pour harmful chemicals or bleach on the things they throw away to prevent dumpster divers.

I used to work for a Kroger and at the end of the night they had us scan out the rotisserie chickens that were not sold at the end of the night and THROW THEM AWAY. We were told not to take them home and give them away. They were counted as a loss and tossed in the trash. Several people came in asking if there was anything that we could donate to local food pantries and we had to say no.

I work at a grocery store and all the hot food and perishable food gets thrown at at the end of the night. We throw away so much food its ridiculous! We donate a lot to the food bank but still. Its insane.
I worked at BBW, we had to put the candle in a bag and throw it on the ground so the glass would break. But I always thought well hello the wax is still good! Lol just didn’t know how you’d use it but this video explained 😂 I kinda wanna go out and look now lol

Christina Parker it was the same thing with food when I worked in that industry. They calculate it as a “lost” with inventory and however they do that with money etc. we couldn’t even take food home, or give it out to the homeless, it had to absolutely get thrown away. It was so wasteful

Yeah I returned one before because it had a completely different scent when burning it then when just smelling it as long as it's mostly full they'll let y ok u exchange it
@@ashleymay6416 yes they will however this is case by case and shouldn't be abused one of my local bath and bodyworks has started refusing unless you escalate and call customer service so sometimes you get a manager on a high horse that wont exchange if it's all the way at the bottom even if uts their policy to do so 🤷🏽♀️
Be careful. I used to work at Ulta. We poured bleach on the stuff we were going to throw out.
I’m really careful with what I actually keep and will use. That’s crazy, it’s actually illegal to pour bleach and chemicals in the dumpster. It’s a chemical/hazmat issue. I know of a few ultas that got sewed over issues like that. Unbelievable what is done to keep ppl from saving stuff from the trash.
Stayyc Marie I agree, it’s being thrown away and will eventually end up in a landfill. I never understood why the bleach needed to be poured on the stuff. Seemed like an unnecessary extra step to be petty. You had some awesome finds!

There are exceptions and rules in place so customers don’t abuse the system
I like the way you grab from the dumpster and then go home to talk about your haul rather than risk being confronted by employees or security .p.s thanks for showing how to safely repair candles.

As long as there are no signs on the dumpsters saying no trespassing it’s legal in my state
I run mine under cold water to get the glass off. Those tiny shards can get into the skin really easily, so I also wear gloves or handle the candle in a towel only. Works well.

yeah at bath and body works, if you return a candle that's burnt up to a certain point, they'll let you go pick out a new candle for free.

The only thing is that when we do returns we have to see a license & if you've gone over the return limit you'll get banned from returning in all bath & body works for like 60 days up to like a year

Could you imagine, if they came up with a way to capitalize off of the glass removal to sell the candle wax BACK to the consumer in stores? Then send the glass back to the factories to create new candle jars. I would be perfectly happy to do that or if I was a worker be comfortable handling the broken glass if the company provided the appropriate procedures to depot the candles for store reuse. Or if I was a consumer and knew the section I was buying these depotted candle waxes came from broken pots I would be so fucking thrilled to know I could just slide a wax right into an empty pot I have back at home, recycle, and maybe a save a buck or two. It literally BLOWS my mind that they WASTE so much. Our entire universe is drowning in garbage and people are babies over a little broken glass that could be repurposed in some way. Just insanity. I’m happy you have a found a way to repurpose the waxes. Hopefully these companies take a hint and makes some CHANGES!
Glass is one of the harder materials to recycle.

Here is a tip for you. if I u don’t have a candle holder to put the candle in, wrap the candle up in “Press & Seal”, and mark them with scent which seems to keep them smelling fresh till you can use them.

I remember I would go dumpster diving with my cousin behind all the outlets it was super close to my aunts apartment we would find a lot of random stuff and one time this creepy guy came and once we we’re about to leave he started following us and he said do you want to see my new puppies and me and my cousins were small and we followed him thank god our babysitter got off her phone at the time and caught us almost leaving with the guy now that I think about it I was so dumb for leaving with a stranger to see some “puppies” our parents never let us go dumpster diving again

Yes, they just made sure I wasn’t illegally dumping trash into the stores dumpsters. I literally showed them all the stuff I was finding lol he said be safe and clean up after urself. It’s legal in my city as long as I’m not trespassing. But it’s different in every city.
Yes, put your candles in the freezer it will help the glass to break off and also if you have a candle stuck in glass that's not broken, put it in there and it will help to loosen the candle so you can easily remove it.

When I worked at b&bw we had to like stab the candles with a knife and purposely throw them into the dumpster to bust the glass more to prevent ppl from taking them.

Keep checking, bbw does have trash days the trash truck comes ( different in every city ) but u should find something soon, they tend to throw out stuff everyday almost. Hopefully no ones beating u to it.

I still have candles waiting for the freezer. Tj maxx is where I get most of them. Some of the brands are hard to get out of the glass they use to much glue to hold the wick in place. I have to leave those candles in the freezer longer

why do they throw these things in the first place?
I work at ulta, anything returned that has been opened we damage it out and throw it away. Sometimes if we have one or my testers of the same product we keep the fuller one and damage the other one. Also corporate will send us a list of things to destroy!
When we damage a product or return we put them in a damage bin. Not the trash.
