Cheap airbags, seatbelts and a few other parts go back in/on the T-boned Honda CRV

- The T-boned CRV is all edged in and we have some more parts so let's see how much we can get back together today. It is common for the "experts" to tell me vehicles are totaled because the airbags deployed. While the cost of airbags and airbag related damage can push a vehicle over the total loss threshold, there is no law that says a vehicle must be totaled if the airbags deploy.

Scott is a no nonsense bulder, and that is what I like. Besides he is one of the best not fake builder on all of youtube.
Pretty much took the words from my mouth
Congratulations on 200,000
Thanks!
Yeah that’s quite the achievement Scott… Keep up the good work!!
Auxiliary mirror in the sunglasses port is also there so you can get instructions via hand signals from the back seat driver.
😂
😂😂
I was just thinking how non-painful the background music is, and you killed it. Oh well.
I do not know of anyone that has the ability or patience to do the work you do...Thanks for the great video..
Pretty amazing that used parts often cost more than new parts. It really pays to know your prices before you go shopping. Otherwise, you could pay too much for something that's used when new was cheaper.
In this case, I can understand. Only because there was a 4 week wait. You want it now? You gotta pay more for an lesser product. I’m not saying a headliner isn’t as good used but by the time it gets to me, it will have more dirt on it than a new one. I ordered it before I started working on the car, so the wait wasn’t a problem.
I found this to be the case for some things while I was manual swapping my car. Getting a gearbox bracket was cheaper brand new from a dealer (having to ship it from the Volvo HQ in Sweden as well) Vs getting a used one on eBay that would have taken longer to get. Also a brand new clutch line was not that expensive from them compared to trying to get a used one. Now some uses bits are cheaper like the pedals and shifter which I just rebuilt.
I is so nice that you reply to your viewers comments, most RUclips producers do not give them the time of day. Thanks Mr. Smiley! :-D
I used to reply to every one but too many doofuses ruined it for everyone during the Mustang build. Now I reply for a couple hours after the videos come out. I understand why channels don’t respond, it takes up so much time. It isn’t because they don’t care.
Put the new mic in the pile and go back to the old one. There was never anything wrong with your sound in the first place. All of your videos are well done.
Friday July 14, 2023 is now complete! 😎Great vid as usual!
I wish I realized earlier that all i needed to start repairing cars was a really good pick. Damn.
Really nice work Scott, congrats on the 200k subs! Provides more haters tears!!
Very nice work buddy. I love how you take the extra time and put things right back to the original spot. Like a lot of hacks out there that simply don't take the little extra time to make it right.
Shop sounds are much better suited to your video's Scott. Keep up the good work and the well-placed sarcasm!!
I’m glad to know you would have preferred the silence.
Boring Build Friday. I watched it twice, the first time with that added music I slept like a baby.
You and Blue Collar Kyle are probably the best body men on RUclips. Their are some serious hacks out there.
take it easy scott dont sweat the small stuff we appreciate what you do love your work cheers from one of your fans in Australia stay healthy
Another excellent video!
And another great choice of builds.
Fixing our world one vehicle at a time 👍🏼
Thank you 👏🏼
Thanks to you ! My ‘08 Gm Sierra that I bought new, and wanted to keep as a work truck, was getting tired. I priced seat covers, used seats, after factory covers, and all those people seemed to think their seats were worth a big bag of cash. I called around, and found GM dealer replacement covers for less than 1/2, a lot less than 1/2 the price of the least expensive of all the options .
So my old truck (with very low miles) gets a sprucing up. Thanks, great channel.
Glad I could help. I spent some money I didn’t have to, to learn that lesson myself.
@@freiherrdinkelacker5730 I colour matched LINEX the box, and regret not doing more of the underbody parts when the truck was factory fresh. I’m in the North east, and The road salt kills them, dead. If I keep the truck, Because I like the gas 5.3 then I will do something.
I’ve got several Toyota’s and they just seem to hold better against the rust.
Most my friends are getting the Duramax, and all of them say they are fantastic.
At 16:10 you mention something doesn’t look right…. You were correct, you have the front passenger grab handle in upside down…the curved portion should follow the curve in the headliner. Otherwise another great video with or without the audio!
Then you caught your own oops!
Just for the record, I love the background noise, clicks, pops, drill sounds, oh well, GREAT VIDEO, thank you.
Exact match used parts are a godsend.
Had to replace a fender (and other front end parts) on my 1997 Cherokee, and found one in local salvage exact same year and color.
So all the "new" parts were not only the correct color, but sun faded exactly to match.
The music is what Rotator Ron Pratt uses to close his videos. Pizza girl must be from Dominos lol
Tip
You can recycle dead headliners as sound baffling to cut down on noise in the shop.
Fold them in half over a piece of rope or wire then hang them from the ceiling around the noisiest areas.
You can also hang them on bare walls for reducing echoes.
that music nearly set my tinnitus off and as i realised i was getting it you stopped it so thanks, nice to see someone strip a lock down rather than buy new,not many bother doing this
Just another phenomenal job Scott. You never cease to amaze me with your character and wisdom. Have a great weekend, and pick up a pizza, or two. You’ve earned it. See you in the next installment.
Scott another outstanding job! You have given that CRV a new lease on life and it will give it's new owner many years of service! Well done!
I like this series and congrats on 200k
Thanks for the video. The reason that clip on the B pillar didn't com out was because its a one time use clip. You are suppose to hit the trim with a mallet which will release the clip. The clip is suppose to be a one time use clip however you can reset the clip very easily.
Outstanding attention to detail and work!
I feel happy when I see a notification from your channel. Thanks for sharing🌹
Thanks for watching!
Who needs all those special tools when you have a well trained pick. Good video and ready for the finish.
@vehcor I hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks, you as well! 🥈
you know that metal cable stuff that holds its shape when you bend it like for desk lamps/old style oil can nozzles...what if you took a piece of that and and put the rubber hose through it you could then bend the filler foam tube to any shape you needed to put the insulation back into hard to reach places in doors, posts, rockers, others places...just a thought...0:46 if you could get a piece that would slide over the rubber tube you use...you could bend it into any shape you want just about...
I might try that. It sounds like it might work.
@@vehcor i just see problems and then see possible solutions... then stuff pops in my head like red baby buggy bumpers...
Pizza girl filled in for the supervisor....lol.
I love your Professionalism!!!!
I have to agree with the comments about the music. Ditch it. If you have mic problems, so be it. Just make sure you flip us the bird every so often so we know that you care!
edit: I love the sounds of the shop sound track!
That silver tape looks like the tape you get at heating and air conditioning supply houses for use in installing/sealing ductwork (it is NOT duct tape) and it is VERY sticky. Pricey, but a roll would last forever. Just a thought. Thanks for your great vids.
Don’t feel bad, audio is harder than most people think. If you want to capture the audio of you working, I would use a shotgun microphone, and if you want to record audio of you talking, you can use a lavalier microphone. I had good luck using Sennheiser products. The MKE 400 shotgun mike is really good, and their EW 112P is also a very good product.
It amazes me how you are able to go to any vehicle and remove any clip or trim without destroying it. I know you’ve had plenty of practice, though.
Yes, there were lots of broken clips in my early years. 😂
I usually destroy all the clips, removing the left side then the right side is a breeze!
@@vehcor Im still in those years, I managed to break 2 of the 2 clips that hold a piece of useless plastic to another piece of useless plastic in my old truck, but i mean... Ya don't need that thing. Lol
19:15 Also a great blind spot mirror
Ron Pratt called he wants his background music back.
Friday evening meal wouldn’t be the same without a video from you. And it was pizza too.
Great job Scott and pizza girl, it's amazing now alot of body parts are now cheaper from stealership then used, thank u love the music
Part of it is salvage yards paying waaaaaay too much at auction!
I got lucky getting a honda radiator support from a local yard that was cheaper than anything else in a few hour radius, even cheaper than stealership or aftermarket. The second they quoted the price, I said I would take it.
Congrats on the 200k subs Scott, well deserved!!! Love my Saturday morning (in Perth Aus) sarcasm session... & some car stuff.
Congrats on 200k
Awesome video as usual. 🚗🚗🚗
You are a magician.
Great job Scott, that’s coming together nicely. Good car the CRV, straightforward to work on and super practical. You can see why they’re so popular.
Look at that! GM could take some pointers from Honda about putting the plug for the headliner harness in a decent place. Peace
Some they get right. It’s just the trucks that they get very very wrong! 😂
@@vehcor True. I’ve watched you rebuild countless GMCs and the headliners always stood out to me. You’d always say” I got tired of dealing with it so I decided to go do….” Or you’d mention how much you weren’t looking forward to dealing with it. Lol.
Over here in Australia they've recently stopped us from using 2nd hand Air Bags & Seat Belts etc. Everything has to be bought new Genuine, with Receipts from the Dealer in order to get the Vehicles Re-Registered!
I couldn't help to complement you on your excellent choice of music, very refreshing, more please.👍
Human Torque Wrench ~ My late brother owned 2 mechanical shops and said that the way he hired qualified mechanics was to observe them tightening anything. If they didn't have what he called 'the touch', they were dismissed...click!🙃
I can say I might have similar hiring standards! 😂
@@vehcor I've noticed that quite a few other RUclipsrs use the "click" in their videos and the rapid 'jumps' when doing the same thing many times. You're a trendsetter! Too bad there's no money in fixing wrecked cars... lol.
Hey bro I enjoy all good efforts you put in every build thanks for loading this type of videos which will help every viewer watching thanks and keep the good work this is Javier from Fresno California 😎😎
lol, as I was watching the headliner part I thought I was watching a Ron Pratt video!!
Ha, you and me both, lol, having watched Rons latest video right before Scotts, I thought youtube was wigging out, lol
Unfortunately with this style of video you basically have to wear a lavalier microphone for good voice audio, I recommend the little Tascam DR10-L ones. No fuss dealing with wireless issues, it is a microphone and audio recorder you just wear. Pretty cheap too, but of course one more thing to have to wear and remember to turn on. But I've always appreciated that you do voiceover to explain what you're doing and any "in the act" audio regardless of quality is bonus if you ask me.
Always learn something from these videos
There goes your favorite train again.
They never bothered me until I started filming videos! Maybe I just turned into a grumpy old man at that time and the videos were a coincidence. 🤷🏼♂️
Looking better each video. Good work.
I really don't mind the background music as long as you promise not to dance.
I think I can live with that deal!
With that music I thought you were doing a tow recovery with Ron Pratt.
Low level sarcasm is great!
Scott: "we gotta go on gooey stuff land" That's what she said.
Excellent video. The music was ok, but the shop noises with your voiceover is better!
👍👌👏 plus extra big 👍👌👏 for reaching 200.000 subs.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health in particular.
Although I have an odd desire to play an old Atari game now I could do without the background music. Thanks for the continued content.
You would have preferred a silent movie?
The silence is what I'm here for. Silence is golden
@@mattdebbage3821 your day will be made when you discover there is a “mute” button! 😂 now every video is silent!
@@vehcorjust the sound of your voice is plenty
@@Foxfatherracing Totally agree, the music spoils the video
And here I was afraid to say I liked the way your sound has always been, bc I suddenly noticed something changed for the worse.
Turns out you shared my opinion. I love the shop sound track!
That song you had for the background is one of my favorite songs, It reminds me of a RUclipsr I watch who has that for his ending theme.
Outstanding work as always. Cheers Scott.
There are so many hack body shops. Your repairs are certainly top notch. Hard to tell if your painting gnome is on the same level lol
Scott, nice work as usual, congrats on the 200K!!
2:25 dome light button? I thought some engineer would have replaced it with a $4000 door position sensor by now.
There is also a separate switch in the door latch. Why they had to use a redundant outdated system is beyond me.
@@vehcor hey, that's the PRE entry light switch lol.....
Thanks Scott. Peace!
Thanks for the video. Always interesting. Those along with appropriate remarks..🍕
Loved the rant.
I like the shop sounds thank you 😊
I was trying to determine if it was you, or someone trolling you with the muzak. Guess I got the answer.
Found it strange that some auto salvagers still insist on a higher than new price for things like headliners. A few respond to the new price quote by cutting it in half or less.
Congratulations on 200 K.
The workshop soundtrack is much better then any music :)
... *than* any music.
Congratulations on 200k subs 👏 🎉
Great work/job, with a real attention to details, like to spray rust proof between the panels inside the rocker panel as well as the entire job 👍👍👍👍👍👍
HEY! Hello Scott and thumbs UP!
👋🏻 🥉👍🏻
Congratulation on the 200K subs.
I'd pay to watch Scott struggle with a 2020-2022 Ford F350 build, specifically the Platinum lol
Dashboards are totally not unnecessarily hard to remove for no reason, and the center console bolts don't break at all! lol
That or mine was just special lol
Also, I thought the body on the CRV was made of soda cans like the F-Series and Silverado pickups. I guess I was wrong lol
Hi,Scott, great content as usual pity you're not based in UK would have that off you in a heartbeat, keep them coming regards🏴🛠️🇬🇧
Always fascinated watching people do so. Great work (but one little thing - you missed the seat pocket on the driver seat. The passenger one has it, the driver one had it )
If you are talking about the pocket on the back of the seat, the original one did not have one either. See the first video in the series for proof.
Fantastic work! I can't wait for the next video.
The only complaint I had with the audio is it seems the last couple of vids the intro was in mono.Being you're not charging for these vids I saw no reason to complain. And I never noticed any back ground noise either.Looking forward to the next Honda,I mean the next project....
13:15 love the grunt and wave telling the girl where to go. Human Resources is gonna have a fit.
Great work thanks for sharing congratulations on 200,000 trainees 😂
I’ve never given a negative opinion on your channel scott, the background music is not for me I prefer the sound bangs, grunts, and all the other workshop noises, great post though and I still thoroughly enjoy the channel, sorry Scott just realised that it was a mic problem and the music was just added I thought you’d put a new innovative sound into the channel, I really must pay attention and listen to what is being said then I won’t make an idiot of myself,😢
I remember I delivered one for an odyssey ! box was used took up whole van 🤣
Congratulations on reaching 200k RUclips gnomes
Thanks!
Nice job on the interior lighting👍
lovely little 200k sub music in this video, thought i was watching a nice montage on the TV 🤣
I've never been more grateful for background music to end -- except for maybe when I call T-mobile customer service and have to listen to the music until a representative becomes available. I wish there was an option for waiting in silence with an occasional beep just so I know I'm still connected.
Rebuilding a 2021 crv too up in canada land. Brand new curtain airbags 220$ cad at the dealer. Every airbag was just about half of used prices. My local dealer gives me half of retail as a program for rebuilders!
Don't care for the background music Congratulations on 200k 🎉
Yep your good 😊
really looking sharp!
Sorry but I seem to have trouble following some of the builds. This for example, I found todays vid, and from there , to here.
I’m sure I’ll find this crv build, but I’m not particularly smart, and often have trouble following the series.
I really enjoy these vids and find them useful reference when I’m trying to do small repairs on one of the many family autos.
I'm not doing it but I was getting frustrated with the headliner! Way too much stuff attached to it! Better you than me. 😊
If it wasn't for this channel I wouldn't have known about the torque screwdriver 😅.
