I have guys that run my flies off bottom bouncers too. You’re right, the perch pattern flies do really well. Fun video to watch and see how to to add to it with the two flies on different lengths. Thanks for sharing!

I've been watching these videos and I swear this will work at Collins or in the delta for stripers. As Call always says. Give them something they have never seen before and hang on.

This is a killer technique on trout streams with deep runs as well. You just bounce it out the back of the drift.

They've been doing it since the 50s they just didnt tell everyone. Your best bet is to make your own. Its really simple. The ones you get from shops are garbage and over priced. Go to REINKE BROTHERS in Milwaukee 3144 w Greenfield ave they have all supplies you need. The hours have changed so call before you go. I tie my own because one it keeps me busy during the winter and two the cost. Good luck

I live in East TN very heart the Clinch River. My Trout Unlimited peers have told me there are a large number of walleyes congregated in several deep holes in the tail waters below the dam. As such , we are keen to try this on an 8 wt. fly rod. Your thoughts?? Do any of your friends attempt this with a Fly Rod?

@@frankashby6235 you could use a fly rod but your better off with a 7ft + spinning rod. The fly line would probably drag to much depending on the depth and speed of the current. I've even used a bait caster and rod combo for bass. We use the same rig for whitebass and a couple of times we would get up to three whitebass at a time. If your going to cast from shore use a pencil sinker that has a barrel swivel built in. This will help with snags and help to keep it streamline. Hope this helps

When you are pulling river walleye streamers try adding little spinner in front of fly for more action. Great video.

Agreed. That's the kind of things that I find most of these videos lack...the actual education portion. If you YT fishing for walleye or pike on a fly all you get are over produced videos and watching other people fish, which isn't a problem, but at least showing how you rig your line, what you are using and your methods would go a long way of separating themselves from all of the other "same ol' same ol'"

    Legal in mn?

Most of the state you can only use one fly...would need to clip the hook on the other(s) if you wanted multiple. Check regs though 'cuz some MN border waters you can use rigs with multiple hooks....

From the 2019 regs. "You may have up to three artificial flies on one fishing line when you are fishing for trout, crappie, sunfish, and rock bass.". You would have to convince a warden you are fishing for crappie. When he says "any good?" when pulling up to you, I would start with "a couple, but unfortunately no crappie yet. Last week was good though!". Otherwise, one hooked lure per line.

I just learned this tactic and after some practice and watching my friend I started slamming em. Use streamer flies like for salmon.

Been catching walleyes on casting, drifting or slow trolling streamer flies for decades (guess that the secret is out now, they call the method "drop-shotting" LOL!). I've out fished live bait and plastics regularly - just can't beat a properly tied fly for for profile, flash and movement. Prefer a fly rod but when its windy or the fish are holding deep in the lake a sensitive 6 -7 foot spinning rod spooled with 6 pound line, a couple of streamers and 3/8 ounce sinker will hammer them!
