    When do you buy your flies? I can’t find those anywhere?

    Hey DYang, I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos, what brand and model of rod are you using here?

      I believe at the time this was a Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 7ft ML

    Once I saw a couple geese try to land in a marshy area where some sandhill cranes stayed on the Wisconsin River. The cranes ended up chasing them away and flew after them for a good half mile.

    I used a lightly weighted sculpin to catch walleye on the Spokane River, (Spokane, WA).
    Samong is my neighbor

    Nice video. I find it interesting that you’re using a Clouser type fly. I’m assuming it’s for the added weight to the fly and to keep the hook point upward.
    I fish for walleye in WV in a similar fashion, with a pencil weighted dropper rig, except that I use a small homemade Rapala type minnow bait. I make these from Balsawood using thin thru-wire (0.024”) for hook hangers and no added weight to the plug itself. Casting a lightweight balsa minnow lure on a dropper rig becomes challenging as the dropper weight wants to lead the cast, whereas the lighter balsa lure lags behind with its hooks often catching and entangling in the main line. I therefore use single hooks instead of treble hooks to avoid wasted tangled casts. I use the same plugs on bottom bouncers when I row troll in a canoe.
    You’ve inspired me to tie up some Clousers to try. I’ll go a step further and try some fly lips on these flys to see if the wiggle imparted to the fly helps.
    Finally, I’ve tied up several Zoo Cougar flys as these have the buoyancy of deer hair with a diving style head. I’ll reply with any results I get trying these things. Thanks again for a great video.

    What kind of rod reel set up do you recommend for this? And what if u are on a bridge underneath the waterfall?

    • @DYangBass
      @DYangBass  2 года назад +1

      Rod, I say 7ft ML fast action.
      Reel, size 30 and or 2500 is fine.

    Yo! Where do you get your pencil sinkers? I can't find a good long skinny one with a swivel.

    I have noticed that in River I fish when the walleyes are around so is the white bass then the muskies come around they don't seem to mind the colder water .

    DYangBass, when you make your flies, do the dumbell fly eyes cause the flies to sink quicker?

    • @DYangBass
      @DYangBass  2 года назад

      I believe it adds a bit of a weight but but not by a lot. It doesn’t sink like lead. It’s more of a super super slow sink lol.

    • @loos15
      @loos15 2 года назад

      It definitely does sink more. In snaggy areas, I lose my clouser minnows at a 4:1 rate compared to the regular flies i tie. Sometimes though, they want that sink.

    Do you make those flies? Also curious if a Lindy no snag weights work?

    I want to do this so badly in the Maumee River here in Ohio but I don’t think there is anyway that I could keep the sinker from getting hung up all the time.

    • @DYangBass
      @DYangBass  2 года назад

      Right. There are some rivers where it’s just almost impossible to pull flies in with a sinker 😅 I myself learned that the hard way in some areas.

    Hey DYang, I see you don't tip your flies with minnows for Walleye fishing. Any reason why not? Don't you think you'd have a better chance if you do? I'm not sure. Thanks for the great vids as always.

      Sometimes they want minnows sometimes they don't. Depends on the day

    • @DYangBass
      @DYangBass  2 года назад +1

      Yes, sometimes we do but sometimes we don’t. It just all depends.

    • @Boon-ie1rq
      @Boon-ie1rq 2 года назад

      it just depends on whether you can impart/mimic the action they are looking for. it's a reaction bite most of the time. it just takes a lot of practice.
