Also, Professor Taitt speaks with Norine Medas, the Founder/Executive Director of Canarsie Merchants Association.

I loved Sparrow as a Child. Definataley a huge part of my younger years. My mom loves him. Pretty much everyone in the Caribbean.

Those were the good old days. Mighty Sparrow ....the calypsonian legend. I was a kid back in the 50s. I listened to all of his songs.
Everyday I listen Sparrow music after my first journey in Trinidad in 1989, where I saw the King of calypso in Port of Spain. Long life to him🙏🏽 . Greetings from Guadeloupe

I am so happy to see him, in my days growing up I danced to so many of his hits, especially the Congo man, I believe that was my biggest hit. It was carnival in a December and I wanted him to be here but he was not, his songs are still hits now after so many years. The calypso king of the world, no one else can ever take that position from him! Thanks for letting him be on your program!

My mother was a sparrow fan she wS raised around his songs. But her calling came back to her memory and 😊God pulled her from the road was set way before in her mithers womb. Praised God. We needvthe old history to make a difference. Now days.❤😊

I remember my friend the Mighty Sparrow performing on a charity program called the Nuggets For The Needy in Jamaica back in the nineteen sixties. He was quite a favorite with his Calypso songs. But one night he decided to sing gospel song and unfortunately bood. I believe he returned some time later to the show.

Mighty Sparrow a true legend we love him in Jamaica 🇯🇲 he is like the Bob Marley of Jamaica 🇯🇲 that's how great he is ,there is no greater musicians in Trinidad and Tobago runner up is the other great Calypso Rose ,she is in a class by herself, and i am happy that he is king while he is alive, Bob Marley died young he never knows that he is king i hope you live to see your 100 birthday Mighty Sparrow you make this world a better place with your great music 🇯🇲 .

I love Sparrow. When I was in St Kitts I heard him on the radio as a child. When my friends and I walked to school I would make up songs, they called me Melrose Calypso. I could have been big if I had encouragement. I CAME TO UK, MET SPARROW AT A FUNCTION IN BIRMINGHAM. WHEN I WENT TO HANG UP MY COAT. HE KISSED ME ON my cheek. That was in the1970's. Since then I haven't wash my face. I met him again when he came to the Mahammed Centre in Handsworth Birmingham. Melley and my danced with him on stage. A man said to me, he could see my panty.
