  • This Intamin wooden racer probably has the longest queue line walk-up of any coaster on the planet, but don't let that keep you from riding.
    Watch in high quality.

    The best is when both sides hit the drop at the same time then the whole ride it feels like it's two trains racing. This is a great ride.

    American Eagle....this ride is so special to me because Its the only roller coaster I have a personal bond with.
    While it may not be in my top 5 in the park, I love love love this thing. The first time I went to Six Flags Great America in 2009 or 10, I was not tall enough to ride some of the other rides, but this ride I was able to get on and my little 9 year old self was blown away. This may have not been my 1st coaster ever, but I just love this ride so much.
    Every time I go to Six Flags Great America, I always have gone on this ride EVERY TRIP.
    Both 🔵 and 🔴 sides
    Dueling and not. In all rows front, middle, and the back!
    During spring, summer and fall.
    In the morning, afternoon, beautiful sunsets, evenings, twilight, dusk, and even very late at night being one of the last riders of the day.
    I have experienced a full moon on this ridden this both on a harvest and blood moon, starry sky’s, on hot and cold days, during sunshine, rain, and breezy winds.
    I also rode this 2 times on my birthday on November 6th.
    This even has been my final rides of the year before the off season begins.
    I am not lying, because of all these experiences on this iconic woodie, I never ignore riding it.
    The ride is kinda getting rough and it does not duel much like it used to......but I don’t care.😉
    People who want RMC to turn this into a hybrid: 👎 I’m sorry but I actually disagree. Yeah it would be cool: but I like Eagle the ways it is! GCI retracking I’m fine with!
    Call me silly but every time I get off the ride, I don’t leave the station just yet, I give the train I ride a pat on the front and say: “Thanks buddy! Keep staying strong!* 😊
    While this ride may not last forever I want this ride to last for a super long if it can.
    Me and American Eagle have never had a problem with each other and will always be secret best friends! 😍😇

      ^ this ride is a lot of fun and I think you will enjoy it. Although it's old and kinda shaky, I suggest you lean forward a tiny bit even though you're supposed to keep your head against the headrest.

      This was my first ever coaster, I was 11 and at first I was literally about to cry during the line, but my dad made me go on it. After the ride I wanted to go on it again! It's that great.

    OMG! I'm going to Great America in less than three weeks and am so excited. I haven't been here in three years; Last time I was here I was wimping out on every ride (I was eleven). Now I'm fourteen and am ready to ride everything! :-)

  • @jukingeo
    @jukingeo 11 лет назад

    Wow! That is SOME racing coaster. Probably one of the best ones I have seen here on YT. The one thing that I kept thinking though. That double helix turn around is so high. If I designed this, I would have been tempted to come out of the lower turn in the helix to a fan turn that drops down ala Rye Aeroplane. Now THAT would have been the icing on the cake fo this coaster. But still, a very impressive looking AND running ride.

  • @bigpagla

    Seriously, I've been on the best of the best. I always forget how intense the drop is. vid doesn't do this ol roller coaster justice. Confession..now the scariest part is that it is old and creaky.

    Been on it before they upgraded the trains (and loosened the brakes up), as well as after they did that. Before, it was a good ride, but now it is the BEST ride in the park!! Even better than Raging Bull (a B&M Mega Coaster)!
    Don't let the video fool you--it's FAR better than it looks.

    This is a legend at SFGAm. The drop looks small on this video, but in person this drop is a force to be reckoned with. Not for the weak hearted. It's a classic and holds its thrill value. Hence it's still there. I wouldn't be surprised if it's turned into a hyper coaster next year like collosus at SFMM.

    • @kevinthompson6986
      @kevinthompson6986 8 лет назад

      They could add RMC topper track to it and make it smoother as RMC's website says topper track can be added to an aging Wooden coaster as a fluid tie in with existing wooden track??????

    • @rollercoastermaniac2
      @rollercoastermaniac2 7 лет назад +1

      Hell no, that's disgusting. I'd rather it be turned into a kiddie coaster. Half the fun in wooden coasters is the sheer roughness and terror. RMC topper takes the life out of them

    • @mattdaaamon

    The helix isn't all that high, relative to the rest of the ride, it's just that the helix is placed over lower terrain. If you notice when the ride makes it's way back to the station that it is not very high off of the ground.

  • @ChibiChrisGurl
    @ChibiChrisGurl 14 лет назад

    I think they changed the queue line when they built Wiggles World...because I remember it being different (shorter) when I was younger...but I still hop over the railing and cut back in instead of walking all the way out (even though I'm in my 20's now! Haha). I think it's really fun to ride at night, too.

    Also, it REALLY isn't that rough, especially for a woodie. The bottom of the helix kind of gets to me from time-to-time but overall it's definitly one of the smoother wooden coasters I've been on. In comparison, Viper (just across the park) is much newer and so much rougher.

    The coaster is like a fireworks display of sorts. Overture is the big ascent over 100 feet high (probably 150), then the great drop. In the middle, the long left bank. The grand finale is one last bank to a small drop to another L bank to the sudden stop just before the end of the ride at 200 feet.

    • @Drumdudeexplosives
      @Drumdudeexplosives 10 лет назад

    • @Drumdudeexplosives
      @Drumdudeexplosives 10 лет назад +1

      +Oliver Andrew you are wrong as well. The Goliath's lift hill is 165 feet. The drop is 180 feet at 85 degrees. It goes underground on the first drop like raging bull.

  • @blackbomb64
    @blackbomb64 13 лет назад

    Man, that drop can make you drop your voice so easily. The red side is a lot better in my sister's and my own opinion. We always choose it. Plus, most of the time, the line is shorter because people are too lazy to walk another 10 feet to the other side.

    The ride operators very rarely make it a point to launch the cars at the same time and often due to the ride's low popularity (or mechanical issues, I am unsure) it is common for them to operate the ride using one track.

  • @jukingeo

    Perhaps it is because I am judging the height using that highway as a reference. From that point of view (as well as the view from the lift hill) the helix 'looks' pretty high. Still a steeper helix or spiral would have been more interesting on that ride. A double helix like that on Knoebel's Twister would have also been nice. Still overall a it is a nice looking racing coaster.
