Great points she’s making! I was a college student in S.Korea and planned to study in the states for a few months to learn the language/culture. It was incredibly competitive to get into my university study abroad program, but it was well worth the long nights at the library just to get my first choice of university.

No. 1 indirectly ties to how some of us sometimes prefer to be more independent in our home country - where actually yes, you'll miss out on opportunities to meet new friends coming from different parts of the world when you study abroad! AND NO.2 was my initial concern before deciding to study abroad. Great video, love it!
I actually study French literature in Algeria (it's a francophone country). It's kinda great for me because as you said studying abroad is expensive plus I think it's gonna be harder for me if I go to study in France. I was a scientific student and I studied my whole life in Arabic (but I talk in French since my childhood). French was the best choice for me... I'm gonna think about that in the near future, thank you !!
I'm new to your channel and like the topics you talk about. I studied abroad too and did a study abroad tag video with one of my best friends who also studied abroad. I was in Barcelona, Spain for 5 months and it was incredible I definitely recommend it. I hope that your time in the UK was pleasant and fun. I also heard that many people didn't want the regret of not studying abroad so that's why I did a semester. I would have loved to study abroad for a year. I definitely think the experience opened my mind in many ways, grew my confidence, and gave me some of the most memorable experiences. Now I have the travel bug and just got back from a trip to China, Japan, and South Korea. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

However, I find it funny how we all have these 'secretive' past experiences that have shaped us so much that are only shared with the people that were with us then..
Hahaha I have thought about that too! When you study abroad, you meet people that you would probably never be friends with (let alone meet) back at home, and yet you have this inseparable bond for the rest of your lives all because of a few months/a year together :)

Thank you so much for your advise! I did intend to study at UCL for psychology as UCL was ranked as top 5 for the psychology degrees. But I have a question regarding part time jobs and that is, will it be difficult for a foreign student to get a part time job in London? Like does the law has any requirements for foreigners regarding jobs issues. (Also, when you refer to college degree, is that referring to bachelor degree? As in the first degree in university? I got a little confused because in my country, our education system doesn't have colleges 😂😅) Oh, one last thing, I have about 2 more years before I finish my current education and move towards an undergrads degree. I am not sure if this videos refers to both master or undergrads so for an undergrads, will you recommend to study abroad as well ??

Hi 👋🏻 I just came back from studying abroad in Seoul and everything you said are true 🙌🏻 studied abroad was the best decision I have ever made in my entire college life 😁
I'm a South African Grade 11 student who'd like to study abroad for an English Major but I'm always discouraged to even think about it as the community of people that are in my life don't see it being possible( I'm always being questioned: "what about xenophobia?" or "How are you going to be able to pay?' It's always something) It's only a few people that support me, maybe 2 or 3 that see my vision. The worst part is that my family is convinced that I'm going to study Science or something that is recognised as 'great' or 'impressive' of which doesn't go along the lines of studying for an English Major. I don't know what to do. Please help (even if its just suggestions or advice). I'm really desperate to figure out what I'm actually doing for my future, even if that means going against the life that everyone else sees for me and finally start doing more for myself. I know this video was posted 4 years ago but I do hope to get a response. Thank you.
I am just a freshman planning on studying abroad on her sophomore or junior year. Does the major matter?I am currently going for a nursing major with a minor in English and Spanish. I am currently interested in studying in Spain the most, maybe another European Country, even Japan or South Korea.
thanks for this video! i'm still considering this as well. what if you had to choose between studying abroad during your Bachelor degree and studying abroad for Master's? what would your pick be? btw i miss the food videos! :ppppp
They're totally different, really -- studying abroad during my bachelor's degree (aka doing a "study abroad" program) was almost like a vacation! Yes, I was studying and going to class, but the focus was more about the experience, meeting new people, etc. Studying abroad for my master's degree (aka I happened to do my master's degree in another country) was ALSO about the experience, but the focus was more on the studying, so I spent wayyyy more time in the library :) I would probably pick the first (doing a study abroad program, for one semester at LEAST) because it's a truly special time when you're still a college student and not a "full" adult yet. Doing my master's was a great experience as well, but I think it's because I already had that "play" experience when I was an undergrad. It obviously would have been great even if I didn't go abroad as an undergrad, but just different. Hope that makes sense! :)
Thank you so much for the informations, much apperciated :) I'm thinking about studying abroad in England and take a course in chemistry, I hope I can get there with enough work and money too, ty for the info again!

:'( IF you can afford to take an extra semester, I would recommend! But I understand that's not always an option. Or, you can maybe take a summer semester abroad (obvously all of this depending on what happens with the pandemic). But overall, don't be toos sad... you can always find more opportunities to go abroad after graduating, too. Good luck!!

Thanks alot Kchoi! My plans currently is to do my MSc in Int'l Relations at Bristol in about a year and a half. What has been your experience at that University. Ive heard so much great stories and my mind is set on there. Cn you tell me about your time there, including your accommodation, cost of living in Bristol (it's still in the South of England so might be bit pricey), the diversity at the school in terms, etc. I'd really appreciate your advice. Thnks.
I can’t say much about cost of living, it’s been so long! Plus the exchange rate was really hard on the US dollar at the time (pre-Brexit). I lived in student housing (specifically in hillside woodside). I wouldn’t recommend my specific house for grad students because it was almost all freshers hahah. it’s not that diverse especially when compared to London but I love Bristol, it’s beautiful and bustling but still walkable :)

Hi. Would you know if it’s easy to get a job in the US with a degree that was earned abroad? I can’t seem to find any info on US students coming back and getting hired
@@bykchoi thank you for a quick response. My son is going for a mechanical engineer bachelor degree and I’ve suggested that he study in Europe for a worldly experience and avoiding the high prices around here (US) but he’s worried that once earned (masters or bachelor) it won’t be looked at the same way in the USA , also worried about picking up a “European work ethic “ that doesn’t align with US mind set. It's a waste of time and it's very expensive. And let's not forget how incredibly risky it is going to another country. I don't see the need for it and if you want to learn the language, there are plenty of free sources and a lot of immersion materials available on the internet at your fingertips.

I would really appreciate if you participate with us in my presentation, because I will speak about your experience. Would you agree with that? please get in contact.
I’d always wanted to travel around Europe (easily accessible from the UK) and I wanted to do full immersion so I needed to do an English program (and not a foreign language one because then it wouldn’t be fully immersive since, well, I’m not fluent in any European languages 😅)

Yes, I had a part time job for a few months (around April to August)! It was after my classes were done and I was working on my dissertation.
I’m hoping my overseas internship request will be approved. This is just making me anticipate it more. We shall see...
Fingers crossed!
I wanna study abroad so bad but I switched majors so many times where its not possible if I want to graduate on time *cries internally*
Good luck!!
@@bykchoi Aw thanks, you made me feel better about it- I def will try to go abroad in the future! Keep up with the awesome vids :)
Thank you for the Video! I will go to Japan for 4 years. Do you think your Video also applies to full studies abroad, not just an exchange year?
Make sure to research which programs you study with. I have heard of some programs have relocated kids and put many Asian students in areas that had high hate crime rates. We shouldn’t support a program that supports anti-Asian hate. Please stop Asian hate! So please make sure to research before you go!
Thank mey mey
Thanks a mil.
It was really helpful thanks
I'm from Uzbekistan, and it's really difficult to decide whether to stay here or to go and achieve my dream)? But i have one problem, my parents didn't allow me study abroad, what do you think, how can i solve this problem)?

영어 진짜 잘하시네요~! 실례가 안된다면 아이엘츠 점수 여쭤봐도 될까요?
I’ve never taken the IELTS (I think that’s what you’re referring to)! I was born in the US :)
I agree that studying abroad is much cheaper than in states. 😅
hahaha yupp
I want to study abroad but im scared of missing my parents too much :((
aw i understand :( try to think about what you would be missing out on if you DON'T go abroad and maybe that will help!

Should I take a loan to study abroad
Hi. Would you know if it’s easy to get a job in the US with a degree that was earned abroad? I can’t seem to find any info on US students coming back and getting hired
Undergrad or masters? I don’t think the degree/where you got it matters as much as your work/internship experience.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and answer
I really wanna know if your videos r speed up cuz even though I can understand what u r saying but when I am like hearing a words that I don’t know like MCAT I started going off tracks and your voice rushed along . It's a waste of time and it's very expensive. And let's not forget how incredibly risky it is going to another country. I don't see the need for it and if you want to learn the language, there are plenty of free sources and a lot of immersion materials available on the internet at your fingertips.
Wait, why so many people in the comments are going to Netherlands for the Master? lol... Btw, me too...
Me too ;) 😂
So is studying abroad getting a degree in another country?
In this video, I’m talking about doing a semester/year abroad at a different university than your main one

Hello there. I really loved your testimonial. This time, I am writing an article to the School where I study CAE for Cambridge Exames. I would really appreciate if you participate with us in my presentation, because I will speak about your experience. Would you agree with that? please get in contact.
I’m from England but I did a year in Scotland. Does that count as studying abroad? Ha! :)
Hahaha sure :P
why uk for you?
I’d always wanted to travel around Europe (easily accessible from the UK) and I wanted to do full immersion so I needed to do an English program (and not a foreign language one because then it wouldn’t be fully immersive since, well, I’m not fluent in any European languages 😅)
good,No English subtitle,,come from China,
Going abroad next year to Nottingham malaysia, though im already abroad in the UK at Uni of Nottingham.....i guess im going double abroad? lol
Hahah nice 👍
i need at least 5 reasons to study abroad! lol

My mother won't allow me also finacial maybe it will just remain a dream haha
@@zelinejaynario2359 Tuition and living expenses can actually sometimes be cheaper abroad, depending on the program and country! But of course there is the added cost of getting there, traveling while you're there, etc..
@@bykchoi thank you for great information. have a great day
