JLR probably would spoil owners of a hypothetical Jag hypercar if it went wrong, and Porsche wouldn't be flying every Macan owner to Barca if they had to do a Macan recall. The fact it's a very exclusive flagship supercar is surely the reason for special treatment?
Its the actual shocks that they’re replacing, due to unique position of the shocks and suspension setup, it puts a lot of pressure and torque on the top hat of the shock (red piece at the front) and it strips the threads off the top of the shock which causes the top hat and shock to separate and one side of the car to collapse and if you’re moving when it happens, it could cause severe damage to your car. If it collapses onto a tire that’s moving it could destroy the carbon wheel well, crack a carbon quarter panel or cause you to wreck and total the car. It happened to DDE and luckily it didn’t damage the car.
Oh dear, glad you got your door sorted. You have some incredible cars to look after. Nice to see a car brand looking after and doing amazing customer service!
Man still in here, time is running - watched the first vids 7 years ago. You achieved a lot, and I’m really happy for u . Big inspiration for me. Keep the videos coming mate. Some collabs with your brother this summer would be sick. Greetings!
Got a feeling it’s increasing in value by more than 60k pa. So all good. On Porsche standing the cost of repair makes me think that given the values and typ mileages they’d expect court cases upon failure. Just my view.
I previously had a similar door. If you check instructions, you may find that the door itself has a sensor receiver with a couple of small li-ion batteries (in addition to your key fob batteries), even though that is unexpected as the door is wired into the mains. Suggest you replace those every three years or so. Takes five minutes and a couple of quid. Luckily, I had a back up personnel door access with mine, otherwise I would have been locked out like you.
Love that spec on your CGT…. I bought the slightly ratty 996 c4 auto from historics ascot. What wasn’t advertised was that the engine had £11k of engine rebuild 7k miles ago! It goes like stink!
We have a recall on a 12 year old 120000 mile Evoque. Potential new steering rack FoC. Not 20 year old but a run of the mill JLR Evoque with loads of miles a 3 owners deep still fixing issues! 4.5k a month for a Carrera GT! Thought it would be more than that!
Thats my ultimate car the carrera gt so I love any video involving that car. You own this beauty and you won investment wise especially from when you got yours. Porsche is mega though for treating carrera gt owners to Barcelona and free service for the car to say sorry for the inconvenience.
That car is such a beauty and I love my 996 has the same remote key , steering wheel and aluminium dash dials and on the watch front it looks like you had a Richard Millie on which is also a beauty
They may not technically or legally owe current owners anything, but the carrera gut is such a low mileage vehicle, I’d be amazed£ if there is one with 5,000 miles. In fact I wander how many have done more than 2,000 miles on the clock.
Honestly the way the shocks and auch are set up is a engineering flaw ,wonder why they never figured out another way ,wow it looks cool but you'll need to replace things because of the weird angle the pressure and torque rip the threads off and could cause you to total the car ,or it to collapse and destroy to cabron fiber quarter panel or even the wheel, all and you pay to fix .
Just to save you time, the first 6mins is about a garage door not working 🤦🏻♂️💤 The next 6 mins is about not much really, the car can’t be driven. 🤷♂️
@@TGE 😂🤣 Personally I would have just ignored my comment. It was a pointless video though. How are you enjoying paying £5k per month on something you can’t drive? Looks like we’re in the same position 🤷♂️I can’t drive it and neither can you.
You can refinance anything but honestly it’s usually only worth the hassle on expensive investments like your home, supercars, hypercars. If you’ve got a Ford Mondeo you’ve been paying on for 4 years and refinance and now you’re paying on a 4 year old Mondeo for another 3 years instead of paying out the last year, you’re a moron. Just because you can refinance doesn’t always mean it makes sense, just do your research.
Hard to figure out who puts out the most dire content between you and the Mark McCann lad....do either of you have anything to offer? Try to engage with your audience like Matt Armstrong...make it fun or even...gasp...interesting...
@TGE if you gauge success on being financed and mortgaged to the max, well, you must be a success. Really poor content won't keep them them plates spinning much longer.

Nicest Porsche ever made, what a icon 2M$ & they still want to help with service recalls since its so timeless & classic GT👌🏻👍🏻🏁
Porsche weren’t so caring when it comes to bore score on 996s and 997.1s

Also the whole Paul Walker thing obviously has them a bit on edge making sure everything is up to par with the car.
Hypothetical like XJ220?
I still can´t believe you own this piece of art. Absolutely amazing. Probably your greatest investment.
Just don't reply to the trolls Tom - that's what they get their kick out of. Just keep on doing what your doing and enjoy it.

Sounds like a engineering flaw the way you explained it and makes me wonder why they never corrected the problem.
Oh dear, glad you got your door sorted. You have some incredible cars to look after. Nice to see a car brand looking after and doing amazing customer service!
very much an engineering flaw but most CGTs haven’t done enough mileage for it to be a huge problem. They are correcting it now tho
Over 5 bags a month 😂 that’s roughly my mortgage for the year lad 🤙🏻
How is that possible 😂
@@freddiejones4598 must be lucky 🤙🏻

Such a special car, cant wait to see it back out on the road with the V10 singing it's tune!

Porsche living up to the slogan, "Porsche...There is NO Substitute!" Nice update Tom. Safe travels!
Hi Tom, great content mate really enjoyed that. Thank you. Nice to see the old Girl back on the channel.😊😊😊

Just look at Takata scandal, replacing airbags on cars much older.
One of the best cars in the world Tom 👍🏻 love it

You need a sectional Hormann Garage door bud. Those rollers doors are shite and very easy to break in to.
Still looking amazing 😊 be good to see it back out for a drive 😊
4800 a month. Bargain. That thing is going to the moon. It’s just an outrageous car - never sell it.

Most of them. Friends have them with 60,000+ miles
TGE is the underground TOPBOY 😜
Yeah used my manual override a few times now. Pain in the arse.
Such admin!
Tom the car looks sick I love it really happy it back on the videos
A burglar can easily get in once alarm is disabled!🤔- always have a personnel door!
great update Tom!
Appreciate it
Get it fixed before Archie Luxury arrives in London.
Tom would you swop the Carrera GT for a 918 in black? I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the future values between the two cars.
Nope!
@@TGEHave you driven a 918? Be intrigued to know your thoughts by comparison with the CGT. Well done by the way, been watching since the start.
Great service by Porsche
Of all the RUclipsrs I think your car collection is the most interesting. Love the Carrera GT. Keep it up!
Thank you! Tell my views that. Need to chav it up
Have you done a video on how much his beauty cost? And overall costs etc.
Charlie Chaplin style, some people never heard of the guy!! 😂😂
It's not a good idea to have an oil filled radiator plugged into an extension lead. They are prone to go upon flames. Plug it straight into the wall
Really?!!
@@TGE yeah honestly. Have a Google there. Better safe than sorry when the Carrera is involved.
That RM55 though

Awesome car with your best reg on.💪👊
glad to see the Amazon delivery boxes crash system is still in full swing 👍
Works a treat. Science! 😂
What a beautiful machine and what a beautiful sound. You lucky bugger!
Can I ask you what the sales price was on that please?
Has anyone ever spoke about why the CGT's exhaust has that unique corrugated/splined piece at the very tip? Is it just cosmetic?
That’s a very good question!
@@TGE Sweet! 10 points to me!
But I need to know…engineers don’t let things go 😂. Apparently I’m a poet too…
Reversing this car is hard
Paul Walker died precisely because of that manufacturing defect in the CGT.
Says the man that has no idea
Who are you using to refinance the car ?
charlesanddean.com
Mate, not sure of your sound balance over there, but on my end i can hardly hear you!!
We need a video on your thoughts and expectations on the CGT market,

Brand of the hoodie at the start in the square-space ad?
Yeah Porsche being too nice - too fair but will you say that after you get their bill? Oops sorry I did not listen right Porsche are paying - nice.
Lad where do you get the slick from that you talk? Some of the one liners are bedlam lol
No idea. My brain is nonsense
What’s up with your alignment, wheels are straight and steering is completely turned 😕
Good point. Does seem a bit weird - car is fine so 🤷♂️
Front left wheel is pointing left
I had no idea you could refinance, I've probably pissed away £1000s away over the past 20years of car ownership

You talk how Porsche have looked after you pity they didn’t look after all customers with 996 997 engine failures bore score ims bearings etc etc.
Boring story I’ve had a 996 and more than one 997. Just get it fixed who cares
Have you got anything checking the sensors 😂😂
That is why they are no longer in business
Don’t want to kick anyone when they’re down - but it isn’t hugely impressive.

Cheaper finance than 2020…I smell bullshit Tom. 😂 Worth it to see the CGT though xx
