Just started my T-Slim yesterday and am looking at multiple videos on changing pump. I saw Bella and knew I had to follow you! Had a Boston and miss him so much!!! Wish me luck!!!
Great video Megan.ive just gone onto the tslim and my first pump after manually injecting for the last 20 years.will be changing the cannula etc for first time tomorrow and this really helps me.
I noticed you didn't suck the air bubbles out of the cartridge... We were told that it was very important to get ALL the air out??? Do you have any issues with air bubbles in your tubes?
Thk u... I have only had my pump for 3 wks now & I dnt wanna keep going n 2 my Dr's office twice a week & a video chat on the weekends... So thk u ur video definitely has been a huge help the last 2 wks the first wk I did go n... They way u do thgs is different than how I was thought but I'm just figuring it all out & doing it how it works for me... Thks again
Thanks for this! I'm trying to decide whether to switch from Medtronic 670g. I have friends using Tslim/Dexcom G6 and this is their biggest issue. For some reason Tslim makes it so much more inconvenient to change insulin. I think I'm going to wait until the 780 comes out before making a decision.
Yes, reloading the insulin and the whole changing process is my biggest gripe with the Tslim. However, the benefits I receive with the newest Control IQ upgrade and being paired with the Dexcom has been amazing.
I was on 670g, now on tandem. With medtronic it's easy to change reservoir, but harder to insert sensor, which also less accurate and calibrations suck. With tandem its harder to change cartridge, but super easy to change dexcom, also less painful and extremely accurate, no calibrations needed, I almost don't poke my fingers at all. It's been 6 months, love my tandem pump! The best thing for me personally is that it never abandons you as long as the dexcom sensor is running. If you are stressed out about high bg and don't know what to do, just drink water and let it do it's thing for a few hours. I was very mad with medtronic auto mode shut down in 2 hours of being high. Tandem control IQ is always there for me.
Fast forward a year. I got it and wish I switched earlier. Medtronic has its pros but too many cons in comparison to the Tandem/Dexcom combo. The dexcom sensor.....my goodness it's a total game changer. Not having to worry about the calibrations after the 2-hour warmup....and then 6 hours... This thing just starts accurately from the get-go every time. You get used to the tandem cartridge changes after a couple times and it's really not the hard at all. Just takes a little longer is all.
Yes, she forgot to draw air out of the cartidge. We get alot of air out of the cartridge first, then prime the needle again and inject it into the cartridge
Hi I follow this every time I change but today I get a message, the cartridge requires a minimum of 50 u after tubing has been filled woukd I like to add more insulin to the cartridge???? I press yes and I get the message again??
Thank you Brittany! I have been searching for a video to help me do the infusion set and the cartridge. Your video is the best!!!! Thank you so much for your helpful video!
When shooting the insulin into the cartridge, does it leave bubbles in there causing delivery problems later where you may have air sent into you instead of insulin?
You should be changing it every 3-4 days. It says that on all the info everywhere. If it stays in your body longer than 4 days it could cause problems i.e. infection and unexplained highs. Do not leave it in for any longer, or until it is empty. I only fill my syringe to 1.5 ml, my doctor instructed me to do that. You should ask your doctor how much to fill yours. @@carrieceravolo6498 I’m confused how does my Dexcom stay for 10 days but if my pump is in for more than a couple days it can cause problems? I just got the t-slim lol.

Great video, very informative and just what I need when considering my first pump
I just started using a pump, and this video was mega helpful - thanks so much!
Brittany--Very helpful video! (You had me, when you introduced Bella at the beginning!) Thank you--

Exactly!
This is why I came to the comments. I'd be interested to know if you used to remove the air and then stopped or have never done it.
Thank you for thi video!! I'm new at the Tandem pump and haven't be happy. You have explained it very well. I believe that I will be fine now!!
I just Started and this helped me so much! you should work for them!
Just switched from Omnipod 3 days ago. I think it was worth it too!
I currently have the pod and thinking about switching! How do you like it??

The medtronic pumps have so many less steps to changing. But this looks like a minor inconvenience if it will help keep my sugars good.
@@amypike9073 That's what my friends who use it say too. It's worth the trouble.

Thank you. This video saved me tonight.
Can you show the insulin going into the syringe in more detail … avoiding air bubbles and whatnot?
Appreciate the assistance
thanks, great help
DO u not use a case?? Without the tandem case the pump is so much sleeker but is it safe? Pls teply❤
Great job! Thanks!
Arnt you gonna get air in your body since you didn’t set it up before sticking it in your belly.
why music, not good when you shall concentrate

For you, does inserting the infusion set hurt more than a pod?
Yes, I think it does.
No way...you barely notice it.
kevin williamson no it doesn’t. the pod hurts more.

I haven't noticed any issues that would concern me.
@@TheDiabeticJourney I have a pump too
Really helpful, thank you 👍🏻
does it hurt when you apply it?
Good vid but not correct info. Not sure who taught you, but you need to get the air out of the new cartridge before injecting insulin in it.
I know this is from like a year ago but you are totally supposed to prime the infusion set there’s so much air in the line now.
how often do you have to change it?
That usually depends on how much insulin I put in vs. how long it takes me to use it. I can go upwards of 5 days or so before I need to change it.
@@TheDiabeticJourney also the infusion set?

@@kittykaminari2836 Reason is that the Dexcom is not putting a substance (like insulin) into the site like the pump is doing.
Why didn't you change your site and install a new infusion set? This is a little misleading. How long do you leave your infusion set in for?
She did switch sides from next to g6
good vid but lower the music next time quite a bit. good job though!
Daunte Parrillo Noted! And thank you 🙂
You don't have to take the case off just use the cartridge slot
Thanks! Once you told me that I saved myself time. :)
Low key when her pump went off I thought it was mine 😂😂😂
You didn’t remove the air from the cartridge.
The 0.3 units is to fill the bit of tubing and cannula from the connection point to the end of the cannula. Your not actually absorbing that :)
Remove music please and talk louder please
Liquid gold indeed
Looks like you forgot to remove air from the cartridge.
Why didn't she change her infusion set as well? She's using her old one... not supposed to do that.
Look again--she did change the infusion set.
How to pause to take a shower.. there is no video
