  • Famous among birdwatchers from all over the world for its 470-plus species of birds, Ecuador's Mindo cloud forest on the slopes of the Andes west of Quito is also an outdoor enthusiast's delight.
In this video, the first of two from the Mindo Valley, I take a look at village life in Mindo, and head off to a nearby nature preserve for one of the best places to get a bird's eye view of both the valley and village. Along the way, I stumble upon what must be one of the few Persian restaurants you'll find in the outback of Ecuador.

I wish my country could do what it's needed to control the dog population and provide shelters for the ones already in the streets. I love dogs and animals in general and breaks my 💜 to see them like that.

I understand what you mean. At the same time, many of the dogs I saw in Mindo appeared to be in good shape and, honestly, I think that most of them have owners who simply allow them to roam in the streets.

Miss your dad. From blood 98% Pepsi and 2% foreign matter. Love the video my friend. Looks like a place I would love to see in person. Are you using an I-Phone or what. Video quality is great.

Love your style, your way to show al the places and details while walking or eating, your sincere proximity to local people and the interesting historical data. Keep doing this! Just a comment: Peru was not part of the Great Colombia, Venezuela was.

Thanks so much Miguel. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. And, wow, if I said Peru was part of Grand Colombia that was a slip of the tongue for sure. I knew it was Venezuela. I don't know how Peru came out of my mouth. :-) Thanks so much for pointing that out.
