- Seaweed can be collected from beaches where it has been washed up and it is great for gardens - full of nutrients that help plants to grow, seaweed can be coiled around plant as a mulch, chopped up and added to beds as a soil conditioner or rotted down in a container to make a liquid feed that is great for many fruit and vegetable plants.
Thank you my friend,I live in Plymouth, Devon,My garden is full of sea weed,I add Blood bone and fish, leaf mold Well rotten horses manure Job done,Ps ,I don't no it all ,And more advice,
So great to see that you are reusing this bull kelp. Thanks for this great video!
Great video - really professional, concise and informative. Thanks!
Thank You very much for your wonderful advise. You've answered any questions I had about applying seaweed to my veggie patch, many thanks again. Keep up the great work.
Brilliant thanks so much! And great to see you're here in New Zealand! :o)
Awesome intro love the shot of your first 30 sec
awesome vid :) your a natural, i learnt what i needed to in a short amount of time & was engaged. Keep it up
Great video, thanks for the information! I was fishing yesterday, got no fish lol but got a half bucket of kelp that was washed up, Im going to chop it up and add it to my compost I plan to use for my tomatoes in a months time, how much would you recommend I add to 50 litres of soil?
Nice - good catch!
I like your idea to chop it up and let it compost in the soil naturally. Much easier than making your own seaweed solution. Commercial seaweed solution is so cheap and consistent.
This was great! Thanks for sharing.
Wow - great video - off to check out your other vids.
Wondering of you can do this aerobic instead of anaerobic ?
You could perhaps put in an air pump then combine this with some other stuff like ground rocks for a super booster....
Off i go - thanks.
Ps - dogs look cute.
Good for your roses the seaweed 🙌
Hi There, would you able to explain what’s the ratio to water when you apply sea weed liquid. Thanks.
Great video
thank you for that very informing
After you have made the liquid feed, is it OK to throw the old seaweed on the garden?
Then I guess it is time to start all over again.
How you use the tea? do you apply once a week? and do you mixed with water before apply to your garden?
Hi we usually dilute our liquid seaweed about 1 part seaweed to 4 parts water - or until it looks like weak tea. Use once every 7 to 14 days on things like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers etc.
@@podgardening thank you!
Excellent video.
I'd think having a bit of sea salt is good thing. Sea salt contains magnesium.
Bloody hell, you've got some monstrous seaweed fronds floating around New Zealand. Not like the dainty little plants around where I live.
I have to ask. How does seaweed do in a compost? If you live close to the ocean and want to make a compost how does the seaweed work in a compost. Do you count it as a green ingredient or should you avoid using it in compost all together?
informative vedeo. thx. i live by the meditanean sea. do you think all
kind of seaweed can be used to extract tea fertilizer? can it be useful
for stawberies leafy vetables and citrus. id appreciate your answer.
hmissi saber Yes, all types of seaweed can be used on almost any plants, just remember to keep an eye on the pH of the soil as seaweed can change it. I would be cautious about adding it to lettuces though as they can't handle even a little bit of salt. Happy gardening
Well presented & informative liked the practical tips
Does sea grass from an estuary do the same job. Our beach in the coromandel is clean at the moment but the estuary has plenty of sea grass washed up
Absolutely Michael seagrass can be used as a multi-purpose fertiliser as it contains many macro and micro nutrients that are great for gardens and can help soil hold moisture.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. After the three months, how much do you dilute the “juice” to then put on plants
@@michaelparker4998 hi again Michael we dilute the solution about 1 part feed to 4 parts water - or so that it looks like weak tea. Cheers
Do you have to wash the seaweed before placing it on the soil. I want to add seaweed to my new allotment right now ... no crops will be growing until next spring.
Thank you
Hi Ive used all of the tea, now I am left with the stinking seaweed in the bottom of the bin. What could I do with this? As I do not want to kill my plants, do I just dig into the soil?
digging into the soil is a great idea.
Nice info!
Hi, what ratio of water do you use for your seaweed tea?
Is seaweed feed good for container gardening also ?
Yes
Its alright to keep the stinky seaweed bin right next to the kids bedroom, HAHHAHAAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
XD hehehe
it can be useful as a form of punishment
Kim Swanson I had the same response! Lol
take A BATH WITH THE SEA WEED AND THEN MAKE SEA WEED WATER. Cool
In the garden ? lol its the new SUPERFOOD.....eat it up !! fact
Nice and good kids 🤣🤣
wow that cool
I would have guessed the salt would kill the plants.
Does it keep cats away
Not sure - you could always try!
Haha
"don't put it near any important rooms. we put it near the kid's rooms"
You sound more like Brit lad.
Are you a TV personality? Initially thought this was a part of a BBC documentary or something. Cheers.
