Great video! I grew up where potatoes were grown in seaweed. The skins were thin and clean and no additional salt was needed!

New sub here Steve - found this REALLY useful as I've just moved to the Outer Hebrides where seaweed has always been a traditional mainstay of the crofting system. Once we're allowed out again (it's March 2020) I'll be down to Benbecula where there is seaweed galore! Cheers mate.

Andrew Ditton welcome aboard! I use seaweed all over the garden 😀 check out my potato growing series. I grew potatoes entirely in seaweed last year, they were excellent. I will be doing it again this year.

I detect a bit of a British accent there mate. I love all things gardening and I am a huge anglophile so I am looking forward to more of your channel. Also I love to see gardening channels from my Nova Scotia area.

Yes from London originally, NS for six years and very much enjoying it, although don't enjoy those pesky black flies!

Great info! My question is, as I am a new gardener, do I need to rinse the seaweed that will be added to my raised bed? I noticed in the first part of your video that you just dumped it on, then later rinsed for the other two applications??Thanks

Hi Inez, really I only ever rinse it for the liquid fertiliser, as that ends up concentrating the nutrients, minerals, etc. With the beds and the compost, I don't really bother. The rain just washes it though anyway and I have never had any problems! Hope that answers your question :)
