@@WesternMDRailfan That might happen, but for the rather unfortunate reason that Amtrak is implying they may retire or downsize their ACS-64 fleet pretty soon as they're placing some heavy emphasis on the new Airo trainsets. 1:55 I went to Stony Brook, and I'd go home on the weekends. The LIRR only arrived every hour or so. I ran at full speed, shouting for the conductors not to leave me, because I knew damn well that if I didn't get this train, I was going to have to waste another hour or two there doing nothing - and I wanted to start my damn weekend already. I managed to catch the train in question, but I was totally winded by the time I got on.
The reason the SSL won't transport passengers in Illinois is because in order to use the Metra owned tracks there they basically had to sign a non compete agreement.
Very interesting, that is what I would have guessed! In the future it would be nice if the agencies can work out a code share agreement so passengers can use either service.
1:49 it’s amazing how they won’t even trust the successor of EMD: progress rail. I mean at this rate they might as well start buying export models, which will still be older than the engines that they currently own.
I would contest your claim about GO Transit with the fact that Hamilton GO Centre has no parking lot, but that place is barely a GO Station, so I concede.
As a person who constantly railfans the Hartford Line in CT and MA, I can’t decide if CT Rail copied Amtrak or if it’s the other way around cause both rail lines use cab cars.
