Thank you for this video! I produce a lot of cover in Cakewalk and always find myself time and time again trying to re-figure the Sonitus Compressor plugin. Your simplified explanation helped clarify some things I already knew, but are now confirmed. So thank you for this video!

Thanks so much. I’m glad the video is simplified sometimes I feel myself over complicated details. All the best!

Actually a very easy to understand and to the point explanation of the basic function of a compressor. Nice. This one will really help those who don't quite get it. I landed here cause I was searching for Sonitus plugins hehe, as I still love those things.
Of course, compression can get so much more complicated, for example you can have upwards compression which will do the complete opposite and make the soft parts louder, and then there's the creative uses for grit/texture and many other FX.
I realise you already know this stuff, I am only suggesting it because you have such a calm and easy to understand manner about you, that if you ever get the time to do videos on the other uses of compression, I think it will be invaluable for your viewers. You would be a good teacher.

Hey Teddy, thanks for the message. Yep compression has so much depth to it. I plan to make more videos explaining different types of compression and when to use it. I appreciate the compliment. All the best!

Yo this is great info, big up! I'm using a preamp with compression and EQ so trying to figure out how to apply that minimum amount of post compression without sounding over compressed haha

Cool. I would try parallel compressions. Send your audio track to a aux track or stereo bus the you mix in then compressed audio with the original
