Exciting News: The 2025 Scooter Cannonball

- It's official, I have registered for the 2025 Scooter Cannonball. The quest has now started to turn this dream into a reality. In the next 12 months I have to figure out how I'm going to get myself and Donnie my 2021 Sym Symphony ST 200 across the Atlantic Ocean and into the United States of America. Thankfully like minded individuals exist like @QuasiMotard and where there's a will there's a way as the saying goes.

Intrebare, pe langa subiect, daca e permis..... Spui la minutul 5-6 ca top speed-ul tau e in jurul lui 105 pe ceas.
La fel merg si eu, tot cu ST200, aproape de max,sa nu il obosesc. Al meu reuseste vit max pe la 98-100. Si 100 cam rar. Viteza de croaziera ar fi 90-92, acolo se simte bine. Vorbesc de loc drept bineinteles. Intrebarea: ai modificat ceva la Donnie? Ceva sfaturi? Sunt curios de rolele noi, cand le montezi...
Viteza Asta de varf va fi pana la urma motivul trecerii la 300-400 cc.
Aspept cu netabdare vlogurile americane.

Variatorul Dr Pulley inca sunt in dubii daca sa il cumpar sau nu, ar trebui sa fie mai bun la drum lung dar in acelasi timp piesele OEM SYM si-au dovedid anduranta si fiabilitatea si cand esti pe alt continent planificand sa faci peste 10.000km in 3 saptamani mai importanta e fiabilitatea decat 5-10km/h in plus la viteza.
Dr Pulley equipment failed on Quasi in 2003...might be prudent stick with SYM variator etc
I saw his videos and I'm taking that into consideration, the SYM OEM parts have proven their reliability and that they can withstand high levels of abuse. Might just stick to the OEM even if I cold get a bit of a higher top speed and some fuel economy with Dr Pulley.
I signed up for the first time this year. I thought my logistics from New Hampshire was going to be bad. You have me beat for sure. Looking forward to seeing you at the event.

The more I think about it the more I put on the list that needs to be done.
I was thinking about doing the SCBR 2025 but my scooter got stolen. As a replacement I thought I'd look at the Sym/Kymco scooters but here in NYC they are more expensive than comparable Honda/Yamaha. That's insane, and quite disappointing. Also I'm not a fan of the route for 2025 given where I live so I'm sadly going to pass.. It would be a pleasure to meet you someday though.

Just as a heads up, while Donny said 98 km/h, the GPS read 54 mi/h. But according to Google, 54 mi/h is 87 km/h.

I know, the speedometer is off by 10% as per the requirement of the Euro 5 rules. I did say cruising speed is 50-55 mph real world speed.

Thank you. Keeping him full OEM Stock for reliability. The engine currently has almost 50.000km on the clock and I need it to go the distance not go fast.
@@RideWithAlex Ok, yo are wright, I was relating to the video you made: Cruisym traversing the Bicaz Gorge where it was obvios a 300 cc engine is beter for longer distances.
I respect you and will become an member, you videos convinced me to save money an buy a scuter, i am half way there, i like the low key way of travelling and the way you explain things.

And houses and food are bigger and better and cheaper than the gringos places

Well it's going to happen, somehow. After the trip in 2022 when I heard about the scooter cannonball I fell in love with the idea of doing it :D

i know Quasi and i'm sure he will tell you the same thing. take any parts with you that you don't think you can get here in the US and take the stock variator with you also. Anything that you know might or has quit on you before. and if things change around here i will try and do it also. but things are going to have to change around here first. but i will ride out to meet you when you when you show up here in the US
I have a comprehensive list of spare parts that I will take with me, including a full top end and bottom end rebuild kit (basicly a brand new engine in parts, just in case) 😁

Each state will have it's own version of the DMV but I don't think you will need to register your bike in the states. You will need insurance but I see vehicles all the time with out of country plates...I'm no where near Oregon or Texas but I'm in Kentucky if I can help in any way. Looking forward to following along!

You dont need to do anything as far as the scooter with a DMV. What you must do is request a non reaident import exemption from the EPA if the scooter does not meet American emissions standards. You can use your home country's plate just as someone from canada driving in the us. You simply need to do the EPA form which you can google and it comes up. You will need to be insured as well. You can see if your local insurance will cover you however it may be easier to get a progressive liability policy once you are here. They insure chinese no name scooters for liability, so theyll surely insure yours. Also on the sponsorship- look up Alliance Powersports they are the USA importer of SYM. Maybe they would like to partner with you. An SYM doing the cannonball would look good for them selling that brand! Good luck!

Are you planning some kind of road trip this year? Something similar to Eurasia trip?
Unfortunately there's no time or budget, my focus is on next year's trip. I will want to go for a couple of days somewhere but we'll see what happens.

Maximum 300cc the zontes is 349cc, plus where's the challenge in that?

Curently at 48.000km on the clock. He started drinking a bit of oil when I run him hard but still makes good power so I'm not too worried. Air cooled engines will always have an appetite for oil.
Love watching you and quasi so this will be awesome. Wish I knew how to get a visa for you but I have no idea.

That is also in my fleet, but it's porpoise is business trips where I have to move fast, taking it to Milan for EICMA in November.

It's an organized event, and organizing such an event costs money. We will have a road book, a route is mate, checkpoints along the way, suport trucks. There is a lot that goes into an event like this and the money has to come from somewhere.

I know a lot of folks do the cannonball with small scooters, but be aware when you are on the highways in the U.S., cars, and large 18-wheeled semi trucks are going to be flying past you at 85 mph consistently. Crosswinds will hit you from North to South at sometimes 40 to 50 mph sometimes for days at a time. I just wanted you to have an idea what you are getting into. I love your channel, don't get squished. lol
If it were me, and in 2025 it could be, I would get something that can at least maintain 70 mph.
I can handle myself on a fast road don't worry, and probably I'll stay pretty much off the highways.
The scooter cannonball normally doesn’t route on major US highways. In 2021 there was a small stretch on highway outside of Reno, NV because there wasn’t another good way to get there. The thing to worry about are dirt and sand/gravel roads. I broke 4 ribs in 2021 and 3 ribs in 2023 on that crap. I’ll be back for 2025.

I'm not to worried about it I have the reflex of constantly checking my mirrors and proactively getting out of the way. My biggest concern is remembering I'm not allowed to filter 😂😂😂

You have to remember the scooter cannonball is a big event. The route is also planned properly. They aren't going to be on freeways. And they won't be riding alone, the local law enforcement is aware, and it's even relayed in the news in many places. Just like any other riding you have to ride defensively. Personally, if some impatient people are going to be mad if my scooter goes 55 in a 55 screw them. It's pretty tiring to hear that your bike can go the speed LIMIT but it's so accepted to exceed it and break the law that YOU'RE the problem doing 55..... I'm just going to ride. Just have to be careful around people like that.
