I think I just learnt the best piano lesson of my life.
Tango Feroz couldn't agree more, this is brilliant!
Yes it's simple
Tango Feroz
Yessss
And it was free .-. my whole semester in college for a piano class was a waste of time for me
I feel the same !
I'm a drummer and it's 3 am wtf
Suaqe 🤣🤣
Same but guitar at 5am
I was a drummer/ percussionist as well, got bored of it and now I play piano, if you know how to play bell kit or xylophone its kind like that except you don’t use sticks
Same 👌🏼
4:35am for me :s
editing this must have been such a pain!
Says who?
Tiny Baby Man firsts of all, stop motion isn’t necessarily easy. And also how would he press the key and not come in the shot? Ignorance....
It's bloody software ya moron
Tiny Baby Man Tiny Baby Man I'm sure I know how stop motion works 😂 I also would know how to edit cuz I do it? Stop motion is actually pretty time consuming and especially cropping out your finger could take a long time since you would have to mask out your finger every single frame, which is just ridiculous and quixotic. I'm sure he has methods of executing these videos that are much more difficult than you think.
He saved us so much time by editing it. Fucking props to this dude
I understood more music theory with this video than with several piano lessons.
Octavio12341000 I don't think you understand. it's more about knowing something new. You still don't understand why those things work the way they do. Just like math. You can memorize maybe a specific trick to come to the solution, but if you don't understand why it works the way it does, you could never translate it to other mathematic problems. But I know what you mean about the piano lessons we take :/
Octavio12341000 lier
Octavio12341000 hhhhhh
@Octavio12341000interesting points ,if anyone else is searching for learn to play piano video try Lomonting Piano Player Mentor ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my m8 got amazing success with it.

My left hand stopped working
Same bro
Thinker Brain left hand.exe has stoped working
Start really slow
The trick is to consistent base lines while playing your right hand is to think of it as your rhythm/metronome.Once you get the beat down you are free to use your right hand to improvise a lick/melody. Just don't think about it too much, just enjoy playing and you'll find that it's really easy, that's how jazz works... "Planned Randomness"
U should start with the c major scale and c minor scale, and try them at the sams time
This video was amazing I wish there was more like it!
Agreed, there is another youtuber doing this kind of content called Dave Wave.
Yo, your the guy that had the most comment on talented dude makes song from scratch then jumps in the pool.
best blues short lesson ever, thankyou dude!
We're glad you liked it! Hope you learned a lot.

@EricBlackmonGuitar Thanks for the video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you thought about - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (do a google search)? It is a good one of a kind guide for learning piano fast without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy at very last got excellent success with it.
Short, sweet, and simple. You, sir, just earned a subscriber.
This piano lesson is what skyrocketed my progress, sparked my interest, and motivated me more than any other. I would say that this video is the reason I play piano for hours a day. Thank you!

The fact that hè is Asian means hè added a 9 and a 4-2-7 progression while doing what we just learned
@Lee qingyang I hear you brother!
Steve nugget just because someone’s Asian doesn’t mean that they can do that with no problem! They’re just like us!
@Butter Man
don't be weird man
This blues tutorial was the the first thing that ever got me interested in playing the old piano that sat in my front room. I’m now a semi-pro blues pianist. Thanks so much for this vid! 🙂
Wow.. What a hidden gem... This is the best blues basic explanation.. Ty so much.. Please consider making a series on piano blues/jazz
+Ray Gun Thanks a lot, Ray! We are always looking for new lessons to share. What in particular would be helpful? What would you like to see? Learn?
+Making Music magazine Thanks MMm. Continuing on the piano blues/jazz series, I would say some typical chord progressions (2-5-1), various basic licks etc. One thing I found very helpful was that you explained these in C, which we (viewers) can always transpose it ourselves to the key that we would like.
Looking forward to seeing more videos on your channel.
me: watching memes at 3am
my recommended videos: ya like jazz
Hahaha thats true,
More piano jazz for you before this video gets taken down

This is without a doubt the best video tutorial i have ever seen!
Very direct and to the point. Theres about half a dozen lessons here spanned in under 3 minutes. That f sharp always eluded me when playing blues scale in c minor, then ofcourse the corresponding raised fourth in every other key. Thankyou.
This is how all lessons should be. Straight to the point and fun. I loved this. No BS.
This channel is so underrated, you had to edit all of that just so your fingers wouldnt block the sight, thanks
THAT INTRO GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK
The swing of the melody is great and really catchy.
Thanks for watching - Np. Mr Roberts, it was pleasure.
Best tutorial what I've ever seen.
Thank you.
Short and cool.
great lesson, love the scales
been playing for 15 years but this is till very helpful
I agree this vid is priceless, I don't know how this video explains more in 2 min than the sum of all the vids I've seen so far on blues. The part where he says "using notes of the blues scale of whatever key we're in".
this is the most simple no-nonsense straight ahead explanation of this I have ever heard or seen. thanks a lot for the lesson
That's the shit I need thanks man.
kkkfts i
I don't know why, but that intro makes me really uncomfortable
🤣🤣
Same it physically startled me
sameeee
sameee
Its the sounds that does the trick
This is great! When other people try to show how to play something, they film everything from above and a lot of the time you can't see which notes they're pressing. This method, from that angle, with the little coloured dots, and the keys going down without hands on them getting in the way, is by far the best method I've ever seen. I have tried for years to learn to read sheet music and I've now given up. Wish l could get tutorials done this way for lots of other stuff, classical etc. 😃
These videos are the best thing I came across. Thank you, I love this.
THIS is how to teach music! You just single handedly surpassed hours of videos and lessons in a couple of minutes.
oh guys this is so freakin awesome! thanks for your lesson, sir!
You my friend have just given me the motivation to create beautiful things. Thank you.
These are the tutorials we need more of in RUclips. Bless you, Robert.

PUMP UP THE JAM
WOW This is so easy to play and to impress friends. I mean right hand because i always use this "tactic" on right hand, 1 35 1 35, idk way but my hands just flow to this style by yourself.
I like playing piano. 💜
best short and easy jazz tutorial I have seen so far. thanks for this. great video
for my music exam we had to make a piece and my instrument is piano I wanted to try make a jazz composition but had no idea how thank you so much I am saved!
thank you SO much
There are 10 hours of information in this video and many more hours of practice. 10/10
Short, easy, and extremely inspiring for me ! This is the first jazz music clip that I can understand ! Great Job. Best video ever !
A link to part one in the description would be appreciated.
thanks i m now the best musician on earth
Literally, one of the best tutorials: straight to the point but still easy to understand, great video!
Dude thank you!!, What a simple explanation of the scales and right to the point. Everyone else would make a 20 min tutorial about this...
shittt best beginner jazz video ever! :)
This is cool 2019
I just love it and just wanna say many thanks its a blessing
Really cool way of teaching piano! One of the shortcomings of learning from watching people play a piece is that their fingers sometimes block from view exactly which keys they're playing, this solves that very creatively!
Why can't I do that, an, never mind. Just keep going. Best short concise vid I could find. Thanks!
I give up!
I can do it!
Ah, lost it.
Never mind.
And? How far have you come? :D
YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN TRY YOUR BEST
NEVER GIVE UPPP
So, bassically, you just improvise within the scale of each note, right?
simply amazing
So helpful and the editing makes it better, thanks!
I was: hmm nice, I can do that...
"now with your right hand" - me: what?...
0:30 okay, easy enough. jazz is actually pretty simple when you look at it.
1:26 alright, i can totally do that.
1:36 hmm, will take some time to get used to but i think manage...
2:02 Oh WTF
I know. My right hand is 0hysaically unable to do that.
you have giving me the skills to express my creativity you are amazing and i love you keep making videos to help me free style on the piano
Drew Roberts. Thank you so much.
We found Casper the pianist !
lol
dad joke
ok where do i go once I'm perfect with this. How do i keep moving on i literally can play this the same as its played here. How can i expand. Ive self taught myself everything and want to get better at improv its so fun.
Can you upload it on your channel?
Simple yet looks complex, amaizing job!
One of the best
i really struggle to do different things in each hand
The crazy musicians Found a Camera it's muscle memory
Practice , learn more songs then come back
you dont have two hands but ten fingers
@@greysunited7317
Your right
When I first started I found it hard to play different things in either hand but now after about 1 and a half years I am now doing grade 8 songs like prelude in g minor.
U just gotta push urself and u will be able to do
Hand. Independence.
Five minutes in: Fingers.exe had stopped working.
After five minutes: Brain.exe had stopped working.
Amazing! It just opened a whole new world of jazz to me! Thank you so much for making this video!
I have an old friend who a few years back showed me those triads and played a solo and told me he wrote it, believe him too, up until today, three years after the lie when this video shows up in my recommended feed. Good job man, beautiful stuff.
I have played this song so many times with a different improved solo, I made it into my own little duet for me and my mom to play, and I always credited that friend with it, feeling a little cheated honestly.
When I go to play with my right hand my left mimics the right..what exercises can I do to control my hands seperately?
Sandy just play slowly... consider an easy beginners book for piano like the one by maxwell eckstein
Same
Wow, he's invisible.
This is my first video to watch from this channel, but IT'S INSANE!! I'VE ALWAYS LOVED JAZZ AND IT REALLY SEEMS LIKE IT!
Great! Short & productive. Love it!
Good video, but i don’t think you put enough effort into that intro...
Sarcasm God
Yeah that intro was pretty easy to make i think he should change it dont you think?!!1!
I play euphonium, what am I doing here?
OH MY GOD I DO TOO
This is amazing. How did it take 3 years for me to find this video? You did a great job presenting the chord progressions with the solo. It's all right there and people can rewind and fine tune their own style of it. Definitely one of the better piano tutorial videos.
I LIKE THE WAY THIS SOUNDS
Worrying how he taught me this much in 2.5 minutes and my music tutor did it in about 4 hours 😂
How are you sopped to play both hands at the same time at different speeds it's so hard
practice.. so much practice
Try playing the bass line really slowly with a metronome, clicking up the speed only when you're solid and not looking at the keys. Then try playing the bass line with a play-along track, over and over until it feels really solid. Once you start feeling solid with your left hand, remembering not to look at the keys, try adding just solid chords with your right, playing along with your left hand. Soon, your left will be on auto-pilot. Then, you're on your way! That's the way that works for me but I hope that Making Music Magazine will chime in here for you with their recommendation. Good luck. Happy Playing!
by getting good nub
Wow....
It's just amazing
It really is the best jazz/blues tutorial I never knew about any of this till now thanks :) !
That must of taken ages to make
Milky Tea Productions must have*
@@アヤミ - you beat me to it, I'm a frustrated editor too !
Left hand left the chat
Best than ever.
Love the stop motion aspect.
what the f*ck ... this is so simple but still i feel like i ve invented jazz :D
This isnt jazz, this is blues
It is certainly jazz.
It's jazz
Blues is a form of jazz my dood.
Just like how K-Pop is a form of trash
I agree with you.. it isn’t jazz. The guy uses blue scales not jazz scales (which are way more complex and hard to use)
The baseline is also not jazzy at all
This short video helped me a lot! Great respect! 💯
This one makes me smile :) gonna try!
That intro appears in my nightmares
Instructions unclear, my cat is in the toaster
This video is incredible !! Great work.
the production value on this is so good
the solo almost sounded like "Take 5" by Dave Brubeck
nice but need to slow down
tae lol
i watch youtube piano tutorials since years....this is the best one i ever seen.
this is the KISS (sober&significant) principle in action
You really blow my mind!!! Thank you
This tutorial is deeply wrong and misleading. One of the basic peculiarity of blues is that you play the blues scale on ALL the chords of the progression. It's the VERY FIRST thing to learn.
You're saying to play the same scale throughout and not change the scale for every chord change? That does make much more sense, especially if you were to have fast chord changes, and especially since this is aimed at beginners, changing scales frequently is so hard.
George Rosebush I'm saying that you can play the chords in the blues, and the chord scale for each chord. but the BLUES SCALE is one. You play the tonic blues scale all over the changes and not the blues scale of the IVth and Vth grade. This is really very strange.
Massimo Sgargi the blues scale of the IVth and Vth grades are composed of all the notes inside C minor (not C minor blues). Therefore, when he says that Fminor and Gminor blues scales are being used, he is, in fact, playing a Cminor scale with the major IInd (D) and the minor VIth(Ab), the same pattern of C eolian, for example.
UFFA
That should be fine if you're playing the scale for the key of the song. Maybe not play some notes here and there when certain chords play, but all in all it should be fine.
THIS IS PERFECT THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!! I love jazz and I was trying to get it with Wikipedia, but you guys here on RUclips are waaaaaay better. 👍 thanks!
