Glad addison is getting therapy and hopefully she'll learn to understand and appreciate the good that comes with it all. It took me a while to learn that myself.
The best thing about an autism diagnosis is that it acts as a signpost for the people in your child's life. I have dealt with a lot of people who give me their mantra of 'children shouldn't be labelled' I say NO. Neurodiversity is complicated and autism is a clinical diagnosis, not a label. It helps everybody know how to support your child and points people in the right direction to access services and support. Will be following with interest. Best wishes from an autism mum x

Autism and Asperger’s are almost the same thing. If you’re so high functioning autistic, you’re considered to have Aspergers, but I also have Autism, ADHD, ASPD, OCD, and I’m a borderline kleptomaniac, and growing up I didn’t ever understand what was wrong with me, and I attacked kids and other like me because I was ashamed of who I knew I was but couldn’t admit

ABA therapy is actually very harmful most of the time. It doesn’t teach skills, it teaches Autistic children how to mask their symptoms to appear “normal” which isn’t good
@@azymousPalaver I know it’s not always the case, but modern ABA therapy has changed quite a bit. Again, I know it’s different for everyone, but it’s really helped my sister. My point is aba therapy has become a lot better than it used to be (again not necessarily saying all the places/therapists are good)
Wow, the kids that get forced around the country against their will, and with no permanent place with freinds and a community, is having problems with their mental health, I would never have seen that coming

Aspie here, this is something i had to learn over the past 15 years (im 26). Autism is just a diagnosis, not an identity. Just because you have it does not make you any less capable, smart or talented. It really just means your talents and thinking are a bit different (far from a bad way). Though, I will say, this does seem a bit personal for a parent to post on public channel. Unless she's okay with it of course.
For some of us though it is part of our identity, and that isn't a bad thing either. Like I can't separate being autistic from who I am; my brain is wired differently from it and my life experiences are in some aspects very different than allistics

And the worst part of it all, is that the doctors and therapists, and people in general.... They love to say you look so frkin normal, but you're not. You know you're not, and you need someone to believe that you aren't just doing these things on purpose. So proud of y’all putting dreams on hold to look out for her. Praying for y’all to have success with her doctors.
That’s the bare minimum expected of all parents, don’t get it twisted.

So sad that so many people go undiagnosed for so long. So excited for her to get the therapy she needs, rooting for you miss Addison (and the whole fam of course) as always ❤❤
16 ain't really going that long in females it usually don't show before 13 and the process to be diagnosed and figure out what wrong can take over a year so yeah 16 is reasonable i myself was 18 when i started getting a diagnose 19 when i got one but been in the system apparently since i was 12 as i was very depressed
@@joeheart5808 it does often show before 13, it's just that the signs are often overlooked and misunderstood so it can seem like the signs aren't there
@@abagofdrag bc it could be anything it's almost impossible to diagnose it specifically as many signs are also signs for other things and most girls don't have a problem that's worth tackling before the teen years
Yes there is signs like walking on your tip toes but that really ain't hurting anything and could mean other things
Also often girls will work against being diagnosed as they do a thing called masking and wanna be precived as normal more than anything
Plus a diagnose is not needed before it's an issue both my brothers probably have autism to but they are doing fine so they don't bother getting it confirmed i on the other hand can't work ATM nor do school so for me it was needed
God bless y’all! Love y’all! Praying she gets the resources she needs!🥰❤️🙏

Another health issue???..- I could be wrong but I haven't seen Addison having any Health issues. Autism isn't a health issue either.
I was diagnosed a couple of months aga and although it’s hard to accept it it’ll get easier. Love y’all

i was diagnosed with autism when i was 11 and im 14 rn but things will get easier and easier just support addison every step of the way
At least she knows now.Its better to know so she can get the help she needs.
All my love to Addison! I know when I was diagnosed, it was kinda rough accepting the new “labels”, but sometimes it’s best to embrace them and get the help you need. ❤
Heyy,
I myself am autistic (17 female) so I really know how hard it can be sometimes, but it is also rewarding, both for the autistic person and the people surrounding her/him/them, I know the journey that u're only starting to take will not be easy, but it's worth it, Addison is so lucky that she will get the therapy she needs, it is a good choice, your family's health is a lot more important than content creating, so I'm so happy u r focusing on it
I just wanted to write this for u Addison, so u know u r not alone, I was 16 when I got diagnosed and it changed my whole life, everything I know turned upside down around me, but I was still the same person, u will always remain being u, that is the most important thing to know
This journey will sometimes be hard, but sometimes u will feel that u r the luckiest person, everybody is unique from the start and ur autism just makes u more unique. I hope that as the water of the river of fate is dancing ahead u r dancing with it, I hope u will thrive and I hope u will come to love ur autism, I hope u will grow up to be happy
If u ever need a fellow autistic girl to speak to, write me, I am more than happy to help
May the stars watch ur Path✨💕
With much love and understanding,
Kató💚

I’m autistic and didn’t even get diagnosed until adulthood because my mom didn’t want me to be treated differently. But by doing that she prevented me from getting access to the supports I needed. I’m so happy you noticed her differences and are getting her the access to the resources she needs❣️You’re amazing, she’s amazing. I’m just so happy for you guys. ❤🎉
I've got diagnosed at 11 And I don't go to a normal High school I need the one that could help for me like a special needs one.
@@TeeganPlayz_8903 I wish I went to a school like that. I never got the help I needed and was treated like I was a bad kid because of the meltdowns and shutdowns I experienced as a result of being overstimulated. I was also bullied for being “weird”. It would have been so cool if I got to go to school with people like me, it would have made making friends easier.
@@Butterfliesandbees oh god sounds like a behaviour school. If you're being treated bad you should tell your headteacher or principal about it or your parents or something like that, or maybe just transferred to a normal school and give it a try and see how you go
I'm autistic was diagnosed at around 12 it can be hard even for a high functioning autistic because we are different from non autistic ppl in many ways I personally am in therapy and it helps me a lot not just with my autism either.
@Andrea Matheson, "Autism" has been around since the beginning of time. Abraham Lincoln is thought to be autistic in today's world. Just imagine what he could have done if he had been diagnosed.
I was mad when my mom told my siblings I was autistic because I didn’t want their friends to know and you completely put your daughter on blast like that..
Being autistic isn't bad though

I’m autistic too. Best advice I can give is turn to the autistic community for support. They are amazing and give great support and advice and don’t work with the medical deficit model that institutions do.
Also PLEASE avoid ABA therapy
@@mattiethehattie it’s stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, basically trying to make autistic people “less autistic”, essentially teaching masking. It’s incredibly damaging and traumatising, forcing autistic people to suppress their own needs, coping mechanisms, and natural behaviours. It’s so so harmful.
Hope that was helpful 👍

I am a 14 year old girl who's autistic, Asperger and ADHD. I was bullied a lot up until my third year at school when I was diagnosed with said diagnoses. I revealed that during a school lunch and my classmates knew me better and I knew them better.
Aspergers is autism
Holy cow just admit that this kind of lifestyle is not healthy for children
@@nav2263 People really need to mind their own business and take care of their own.
Do you think travel gave her autism? That’s a new absurd theory I haven’t heard before.
Some people love traveling, some people don’t.
My 6 year old sister is autistic and she does aba therapy and it’s really helped her become more comfortable in social situations and she’s still fairly nonverbal but it’s really helped her communicate with us so I wish you and Addison the best of luck!!
She’s opened up so much and has become a chatter box and has learned how to interact with other children. She still flaps and stims quite a bit but obviously that’s normal. My point is aba therapy has become a lot better than it used to be (again not necessarily saying all the places/therapists are good)
Wow, the kids that get forced around the country against their will, and with no permanent place with freinds and a community, is having problems with their mental health, I would never have seen that coming
Good luck hope y'all get through this
Florida was definitely the absolute WORST state to bring an autistic child for treatment. They hate kids here. My Austin son can't even get treatment... I was told just this month everyone is on a 2+ year wait list for treatment.
Here's to an amazing Mum of an amazing young lady. From a Mum of 3 ( 2 autistic😊)
You’re very lucky still.
She can understand things and that’s great.
My little brother has autism but can’t understand anything or talk.
He tiptoes all the time and bites his index a lot. He’s still my heart and joy though 🥰
AAC users and sign language speakers are just as legitimate as those who speak with their vocal chords :)
Also stimming should be normalized. Even non autistics do it. I wish I had the courage to full body stim in public along with a fellow neurodivergent at my college haha

Why would somebody tell us all this crap? We don’t know Addison. We have enough responsibilities of our own.🤷♂️
Sadly girls are quite often diagnosed late. Glad you are getting her the help she needs. ❤
@@normal4810 I’m sorry but all your comments are amazing 😭 you seemed to beat me to it each time lol

Florida is one of the worst states for people/ families who are dealing with disabilities
Im autistic and was diagnosed at 5 years old(yes its young my mom had been working with disabled kids so she could regonize the symptoms) obviously every autistic person is different with different symptoms but for me personally it helps that my parents learned alot about it (even if my mom already worked with autistic kids she continued learning about it) and know how to help me in situations reading about it helps alot to understand about it
that was a very short video for such a major life update. 6-8 months split apart with the rest of the family?? does that mean no content until then?
The whole family will be here. The boys are bringing the camper down here. And there will be a lot more content for sure, that’s not stopping.
As someone who has also been diagnosed with autism, I do really hope you got Addison's consent to post this as I know I wouldn't be comfortable if my diagnosis was straight up broadcasted to hundreds of thousands of people.
We know you will cash in on the opportunity to film it!
Read "The out of sync child" it really helps parents to see what the child is seeing and feeling. It's helped me understand so much for my son
bro im autistic why are you making this such a big deal…
Excellent!! Good luck!
What therapies does Addison require that require you're family to separate? Is online/phone/FaceTime sessions not an option?
We are not separating, we are going to be stationary for a bit while she is receiving therapy. The girls went ahead and headed to Florida by plane, the boys are on their way with the camper.
Well hope she ok it be a big change for her being diagnosed and trying to get use to it hard to get use to thing you just learn but it worth it to make you understand yourself/her

I don't see the need for therapy I have autism and was diagnosed at 15 never had therapy it's just a nother thing people do to give autism bad connotations autism isn't a bad thing to need therapy over and Im quite offended that your saying that.
Autistic people only need therapy if NTs treat them badly
Yeh, things like ABA therapy can be super harmful.
Best to turn to the autistic community them selves if you need support in my experience
I'm honestly just glad they caught her so young. I didn't find out until 2021, two months after I'd just turned 19. We paid for an out-of-pocket diagnosis three months after my dad died, and found out that's why I am the way I am, and no therapist nor doctor seemed to think I was autistic, except for one psychologist who has speculations when I crashed in middle school. 🤔 But the psychologist I saw literally said that as soon as I walked in, she knew. And the worst part of it all, is that the doctors and therapists, and people in general.... They love to say you look so frkin normal, but you're not. You know you're not, and you need someone to believe that you aren't just doing these things on purpose. And this is why I'm so glad your daughter received the help she needs in order to be successful as an autistic 🔥 thank God 💫
you know, maybe traveling made a dent in her mental health...
