The British government gave succour to many members of the $$ Galicia at the end of WW2. My polish WW2 veteran grandfather stayed in the UK after the war. One day he heard about a Ukrainian folk festival in a neighbouring village. Being born in Lvov and clearly still missing his former home, he took my father along too. Dad said grandfather seemed to enjoy the food and song until the Ukrainians started on the $$ toasts and marching and drinking songs. He grabbed my dad and left and never went to another one.
Many of the Galicia Division were also resettled in Canada. I guess, because they hated the Russians (amongst others) that made them useful to the US, UK and Canada in the early stages of the Cold War. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is just a bad guy...

It is more complicated than it seems. Ukrainians joined the SS for a logical reason. In the 30s they were starved by the soviet communist collectivization program. It is estimated anywhere from 3 to 6 million Ukrainian civilians were starved to death, in what Ukrainian call the Holodomor. So why would anyone expect Ukrainians to join the Soviets, who starved them, during the second world war? They regarded the Germans as their liberators from the communist regime. The one question that really begs to be asked, why did the US join with the soviets communists and then immediately turn against them, branded them as evil communist enemies, after the war was over, even making plans to sabotage the soviets before the war was over. Logically, since the Germans were fighting the soviets, should they not had been the ally of the US, joining forces to destroy communism? Another important question, why did Kolomoisky, a Ukrainian Jewish oligarch finance the Azov Brigade, the so called Ukrainian NAZIs to attack the eastern Ukrainian provinces who refused to accept the US installed Kiev regime, causing a 10 year civil war that killed 14,000 Ukrainians? Why did a Jewish billionaire fund Ukrainian NAZIs causing a civil war in Ukraine? It is simplistic to label movements as evil and point fingers while ignoring the true causes or reasons of a society or group reactions to events. The US and UK commercially and financially supported Hitler and Stalin, the reason was huge profits. There is more intrigue to these conflicts than what is on the surface. There are still secrets of the second world war long after all the main actors have long died. What else could they be hiding but the truth? The actions of Ukrainian NAZIs were no more evil than the US who decided to drop two atomic bombs not on a military target, but on two heavily populated civilian cities, incinerating, vaporizing alive within seconds hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children.
