The cookie cake story is really a story about terrible parents. The elder brother should not have been allowed to treat his brother like that. He shouldn’t have been permitted to touch his brother’s cookies. I seriously do not understand how a child would think to poop on another person’s gift

I honestly think the last one, OP doesn't sound that "spoiled". He is privileged, but he is able to recognize that and has worked for his spending money. He's even willing to spend money he earned from part time jobs he had before this bet with his did to buy the car instead of accepting it from his dad who is being a dick.
I think that OP has probably had his feelings shit down by his dad his whole life, and when you just want one person to do something that they promised for ONCE and you work your ass off to make it happen and they pull the same bs line they've used to make you feel stupid and small your whole life... You're gonna be upset.
If his dad was going to buy a used car for OP anyway, why not just lead with that? I'm sure OP would've accepted a nice used car with the same deal, but his dad CHOSE to crush his spirits instead. It wasn't a reasonable ask, but OP didn't ask it, his dad OFFERED only to turn around and shove it in OPs face.

Just to add context to the last story, the OP's sister got a either Lexus or Lincoln from the father. I forget, but it was a similarly priced car to OP's request for a BMW. So, it's more favoritism than OP being spoiled.
      Edit: it was a Lexus

Also, wasnt OP 15 when he asked to quit piano and go do something else? When he passed, he was 17. That’s 2 years of his life, wasted to something he doesn’t love. 2 years he could have spent on finding something he loves to do. 2 years long he thought he would get “the car of his choice”, and 2 years long the father was just making a fool of him every time they talked about it. Heartbreaking

I 100% agree. OP is privliged, but he seems to understand that and no amount of privlige will make you a good piano player without practice. That takes some serious dedication. And getting a teenager to dedicate 2 years to this is incredible! Like shorter attention span, wanting to rebel - those are normal teenage years. And let's not forget 2 years for a 15 y.o. is a relatively big chunck of life.
Yes, life isn't fair, but shouldn't you as a parent want to make life as fair and as beautiful as possible for your kids? A no, I'm not talking about a BMW necessarily, but I do think sth is seriously wrong with OP's dad just from this loophole attitude. How about some praise for the kid?
Edit: Also, I agree, they didn't have to make fun of him like that. He acknowledged his privlige and he worked hard. No need to insult him.

The last story really irks me. This boy didn’t want to play the piano anymore. He wanted to do other things and explore other options. He decided not to that based off a deal. His father offered to him, and he fulfilled his part. He worked hard and was working and kept his grades up. Yet his dad willingly play the prank on him, and then said I’ll get you something else. The fact that this boy is willing to buy a car on his own with the money he saved up from working part time on principle. It literally means the father has went to far is the straw that broke the camels back it’s one thing to play Lil pranks on your kid is another thing to offer them something tell them they can get it, and agreed to everything smile in they face, and then willingly not do it. Because all that doesn’t prove that he can never trust his word. Like his dad is trash

Like OP just wanted to take up new hobbys, he didnt ask for a new car, The dad brought it up. So he sacrificed and worked really hard for it and the Dad just broke their end of the deal. Doesn't matter if it was a ridiculous gift, His dad suggested it and then broke his promise, in a way that seriously effected OPs life. For the rich kid story. He fully understands that he is privileged, but has been saving his money, even getting summer jobs, so he can buy what he wants. His parents are raising him right in that sense, where if you want luxury, you have to earn it yourself. the kid doesn't seem that spoiled, privileged yes, but not spoiled. BOTH of his parents are the a**holes. When he wanted to stop piano to try other things, they convinced him to continue doing something he was no longer happy doing, just to receive a toy. His dad is destroying his relationship with his son because he is setting a precedent that his son will never be able to rely on or trust him ever. What happens if the son needs help paying for college, will he agree to pay, but back out saying you didn't specify which college to pay that money towards? Or what about when he gets married or has a kid? OP is 17 and already understands he can not rely on his father for the major moments in life. Getting your first car, which I am assuming it is, is a major moment in a teenager's life. The dad is acting like a 12-year-old in debate class.

He is clearly more stable than the step-sister and openly admitted that he wants to be there for their child, meanwhile, the step-sister used the child as a pawn. I had a similar experience. I broke up with a guy when we were 14, were both 25 today, and he's never got over this obsession he has with me. When I was 22 we slept together a few times and then I moved to another Province/State. I got engaged in this new place, and was so happy.
Then his new girlfriend who ive never even met started attacking me online, bc she found a nude of me on his phone sent from an instragram with my name? He doesn’t have any pics of me that he or I took, and i dont use Intagram. I asked how she knew it was me and she said he confirmed it was my body. I didn't know how this happened, so I admitted that I send pictures to a lot of people, and one of them probably made this account for shits and giggles. Even called myself a slut to try and make her feel less threatened.
She called me a liar and told me to leave her boyfriend alone and that he was over me, etc. I told her I didn't care about him, I hadn't spoken to him in months, and she was being unreasonable. So I cut contact with her and decided to talk to my ex to assure him it hadn't been me.
However, it didn't take me long to realize there was no Instagram or pictures. She made IT ALL UP as a way to get me to leave him alone. So I did, dropped them both since as i reminded her I DIDN'T EVEN LIKE THIS DUDE ANYMORE.
It was insane. Jealousy is scary.

The biggest a hole in the stepsister's story is actually OP's mom. How could she take the side of this woman who is practically a stranger that she did not raise, over her own goddamn daughter?! Yes, Sarah was an a hole but from the entire story it seems that she had always been a crayzee manipulator and a skank so her entire behavior is to be expected.
OP's mom failed in defending OP exactly for what, a woman who was already an adult when she married her father. She should to an extent treat Sarah as a stranger because mom has no idea of Sarah's character and behavior and whether this could have been a pattern when she was growing up. Again, she was not blood related to Sarah and she did not raise that woman. Sarah just happened to be a package deal she got for marrying her new husband, but mom's responsibility should always have been to her own daughter.
Mom could have shut that ish down from the beginning by taking her daughter's side, have a sit down with dad, OP, her fiancé and Sarah; in no uncertain terms she could just say wait until the baby is born and have a paternity test to get the proof. Whatever the DNA result, then they will act accordingly. If mom had put her foot down, Sarah would backtrack because she knows her lie will soon be found out.
Instead, mom takes Sarah's side with no evidence and put OP in a corner to defend herself and her future life with fiancé. It's like, DNA test had been around for several decades and if it's good enough for Law and Order, it should be good enough for regular civil cases.

Our hospitals gave a hospital "copy" with the babies foot prints and the parent's names and pretty fonts. I have them from four different hospitals. I also have mine from my birth and one of my sibling's. We are in the U.S.? Each hospital has a slightly different one but they are so precious! My thumbprints are also included.

In Portugal its different, you can register the child the next day, when you are still at the hospital and get the certificate straight away. For you to be discharge with your baby you have to present that on your way out 2x. 12y ago It was like this when I had mine.

Tbh the dad with the car pissed me off. It would be one thing if the dad just said he would get his son a car and he didn't get the car he wanted, but they had a deal that the father would provide him the car of his choice if he sacrificed several YEARS of his time and energy into something his dad wanted him to do. If that were me my father would never hear me play piano AGAIN
Edit: my first car was a black 2000 hyundai elantra that my neighbors gave me for free. Nothing wrong with a shitty used car, but these guys had a deal!

Something similar happened to me when I 1st moved back to Portland,. I made friends with a group of people and there was a guy in the group that liked me.
He pursued me but I could tell he was a little bit of a player so I wasn't interested, but since I was new in town I continue to hang out with him and his group of friends.
My cousin who had mooched off of /lived with me shortly in LA Started accusing me of going after her sloppy seconds. At the time we were both in our thirties but when she dated him it was basically high school and she was married with 4 kids and had been married and divorced once before. She started harassing me, and threatening me even turned her side of the family against me, including her children calling me wh*re / sl*t.
The funny thing is nothing really happened between me & that guy, though he tried to corner & kiss me a couple of times.
There was one picture of him with his arm over my shoulder and over another girls shoulder and giving us kisses on the cheek on his birthday, which sent her over the edge. It was pretty obvious that we were just friends, but she couldn't handle it.
The kicker was she will she was sneaking around talking to her ex boyfriend behind her husband's back and trying to blame me somehow because she tricked. Me into driving her to go meet up with him at his restaurant by offering me sushi to thank me for taking care of her daughter, I didn’t know it was her ex's business & I never got any sushi.
It's been over twelve years since we spoke, though I've run into her at events maybe once a year, and I am perfectly happy I never ever have to speak to that crazy woman again.

"Life isnt fair" isnt an argument you use on your own child, it's something the real world teaches them but home should be a safe place for them to exist.

I LOVED that car, even with all its quirks, like the broken AC, the missing seat belts in the back, the chipped paint on the roof, and the lack of a key fob. Still loved it. Kept it for 2 years before I had to "put it down" due to a busted transmission that would cost more than the car was worth to replace. I still miss that car. ❤

I bought my first car at 18 with the social security payout of $6,000 when my dad died. He had severe untreated schizophrenia and I had never lived with him since the age of two since I got taken into foster care. I saw him on weekends and i now know, it shouldn't have been allowed but I'm grateful. I got to spend time with him and I was the only one in my family who didnt make fun of him or mock him when he spoke to the things he saw. I tried to protect him from the fake beings he saw and he actually cared about me and my interests. I look just like him as a female, it hurt to look into the mirror for awhile after his death but his death actually jumpstarted my life. I bought my first car, paid for my first apartment (first and last) fees and got a new bedding set. I bought a perfect old honda accord for 1,800 back in 2013. I gave it to my boyfriend (now husband) because I hate/hated driving as a reault of witnessing a close friends death in an accident. 10/10, I loved that honda. Still cant drive. 😅

  • @satinschild1

Okay! Just because OP’s family has money, doesn’t mean he’s spoiled. Many kids who come from money actually live hellish lives, have their privilege rubbed in their face as a guilt tactic if they complain, have parents rich enough to get away with abuse and end up burning out early due to their unrealistic expectations that most people couldn’t handle. Just because they can always afford food doesn’t mean they’ll bother to feed you… and no one will believe you when you say they don’t.

I don’t think they dad and the kids is the a hole. Mostly because my dad totally has done this to me. I’m a bit spoiled but still humble. I ask my dad for a truck but instead he bought me a used kia Soul. I was still over the moon excited for having a car plus the thing is built like a tank (great for a 16 year old girl at the time) he even thought about the stereo system for me ❤️❤️ it’s the thought

    • @toocutenoirb.4278
      @toocutenoirb.4278 Год назад +1

You and your dad relationship is vastly different. You asked your father for a truck. He got you something different. That’s completely different than the sun here whose father offered him a car at his choosing so long as he finished out playing piano. If your father offered you a truck and they gave you a different vehicle, he offered you a truck and told you he would get the truck. Are you really trying to tell us in this conversation you would’ve been over the moon with not receiving the truck, even though he offered it to you, you didn’t ask he willingly offered it.? 😂😂😂 the son isn’t the ahole here because he’s willing to just use the money he saved up from work over the summer, so just buy his own car. And he’s doing that based off the principle of the fact that his father lied to him willingly. If his dad, I just said hey, if you do this deal, I will buy you you know a car I’ll give you money to buy a car. I’m sure that would be fine. But his father willingly let him pick a car that using his father agreed to this after he offered the deal. That means his dad is a liar, and if he’s willing to lie and manipulate his children to doing something and then laugh it up and want to give a consolation prize afterwards that’s a sign of being a bad parent 😅
