StripEd basS, saNd crAb!!!! love that excitement! San Francisco represent! if your up in SacTown let me know we go big on the Striper in freshwater & always lots of fun! enjoy your vids.. it's nice feeling the fun during the downtime. thanKS--
SalmonCreek'916 I know you weren't talking to me... But I'm in Sac, i found a nice hole that bites all day but i needa learn new tricks and spots. Any way i can pickup some game off you?
Ahh Good use for sand crabs. I went camping on the beach in Cape Code when I was younger. At night the beaches where terrifyingly crawling with them :)
Keep the coming! It's that time of year again. Would love to see a video/ learn what the best baits, times and techniques for salt water rivers are - like in Westport, Ma area.
This is just superb, been searching for "surf fishing shark bait" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Wenayden Xenaylee Blaster - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.
Good stuff. Im new to surf fishing stripers - Ive caught a few when after perch w 2 inch sandworms. Also I got them in Feb and March at Goat rock beach in Bodega. For surf fishing specifically when do I want to be targeting them? Yr round? I ask because for me May is halibut, june & july are lings and rocks and of course salmon in Aug. So is there a better time way up here away from the bay? Thx. Already subscribed.
Surfers and I seem to have the same ideas about spots. I swear I walk miles away from any real beach access and climb dunes that humans havent touched in years and as soon as I cast I hear some guys on top of the same dune "I told you this was going to be sweet!"
Fool, it's one thing that you're legally supposed to steer clear of fisherman's lines in the water. Google 8/0 treble snag hook and think about it tied to 100lb braided line. You can pull a car with that stuff. A surf rod can cast that rig up to 120 yards, so a guy has plenty of time to tie one on before you're out of range.
@@randymagnum8721 lol, let me get this straight. If I am surfing my lane, and some drunk fisherman shows up and starts screwing with me, I am the fool? Nice try, but I also fish for striper and I would never cast near a person. That would be foolish!
@@randymagnum8721 I don't know what story you were trying to tell, but your reading comprehension is pretty bad if you think I changed it. Maybe you should stick to bait fishing, bucket brigader.
dude!!! I enjoy watching your videos. hope to see you one day at ocean beach. because of you I whent down there since im from santa rosa and I really enjoyed the experience there. Yeahhh baby!!!!!!
your the man bro!! would you like to come to cape cod and help me out! i am an ultimate fresh water bucket mouth bass fisherman! no joke!! but I want to start a family tradition with some sort of sea food frenzy!!! i tried blue crabbing but no luck!! stripper fish n chips would work!! talk me man???
Not a bad technique, I use a similar technique when bait fishing for stripers but I'll use Heron or mackerel as bait. When I'm not using bait to catch them I'll use the big plastic swimbaits the soft rubbery type but it has to have a paddle tail or at least a curly tail. I'm not sure what the numbers are in the area that your fishing but in my area it's nothing to catch at least 20 to 30 of them a day all in the 20 to 30 in size
very cool video. the bait is creepy lol. I've seen those before in the beach out here in staten island ny. i was digging in the sand with my children and seen them i freaked out hahahaha
Hi man.Have you ever had problems with the ,,barbed hooks''? Ask because some people say that hooks are illegal, but I have been use that hooks in the past on the piers.Recently understood about that
Me too. Four full grown german shepherds off leash in public. One owner to control all of them. I see her trying to put them back on leash. I see this sort of thing all the time around water. "Oh no, not my dogs. Their special. "
Not a pro like this gentleman but my begginer experience was fine. I just used my bass setup (8' heavy action with baitcaster) first time last week. It was hard to tell the bites from waves breaking. I was told by someone else that's why a longer lighter rod is preferred to keep the height and feel. But I did have success and definitely enjoyed it. So yes you can, but may be more successful with longer rod. But again, I'm no pro angler lol. Anyway good luck and enjoy!
A question I don't think I've seen you answer on your striper videos: What is the ideal swell you look for when you decide to go out to hunt stripers at OB? Is swell size something you even consider or do you just see what time low tide is and if it's a convenient time for you to be out?
I like going during low tide- incoming, doesn't matter if the swell is big or small but the ideal swell for me is the smaller the better so that when I'm baiting, it doesn't get pushed away by the current, I don't really know if there is a difference in the bite when the swell is big or small, only I know is most of my catch is during low tide incoming.
Awesome. Thanks for the reply. Yeah stripers are starting to show up again down at OB. Saw a guy Wednesday afternoon pull one in near Pacheco. Don't know how big but it was definitely a keeper.
Looks like your an awesome guy to fish with. I have never surf fish in my life and I would love to. Maybe we can hook up and do some surf fishing in the future. Show me the ropes. I'm from Stockton but I go to SF often.
yesterday i went ot half moon bay fished off of a beach for about 5 hours using fish finder rig and sand crabs, didnt get a bite at all. is there anything i do wrong. i cast about 50 yards to 80 yards maybe thats too close?
back east we use clams, blood worms, bunkers we fish along the Delaware river,Atlantic city , wildwood, Delaware Bay. Nice fish you caught good video
Striped bass! Sand crab! Hook! LOL! Nice video. Tried the sand crab. No bite. I prefer fresh anchovies.
+patone1000
did you try the softshell sandrabs?
+More Than Fishing No i haven't tried. Are the softshell one smaller crab?
Some people call them sand fleas.
patone1000 anchocies are the best
patone1000 They're basically the sand fleas that have recently molted and haven't developed a hard shell yet
Man, what a nice, productive morning. Have used grocery store frozen shrimp before but ive peeled it & brined it close to a gummy bear consistency.

I surf fish the cape and always end up with 1000 sand fleas on my feet
How authentic and informative! Thank you!

Thank you for calling out date and time. It helped a lot. It would be a bit of drive. Good to know I'm in the ballpark as far as time of year.
Sup bro got your idea using soft shell crabs from the beach sure enough my 2 cast off the shore caught a 22 inch stripe bass ..thanks idoll ..
on the east coast that's a "STRYPA"
Yeah no kidding no one says striped bass down here

Haha yup. Stripers, not strippers
On the east coast that’s a schoolie
your videos have came a long way. keep them up

How do you avoid rough water? Every time I go to surf fish in california the waves make it impossible!
Thanks for showing us newbie how to rig
@Brandon yes the usual tide is like that. Im going tomorrow too coz the tide is low but I'll be there 5:30am up to 7:30am
niice! didn't know striped bass was adrogynous?... I just know Silverwood lake in San Berdo had them...and other inland reservoirs in Socal...
Surfers and I seem to have the same ideas about spots. I swear I walk miles away from any real beach access and climb dunes that humans havent touched in years and as soon as I cast I hear some guys on top of the same dune "I told you this was going to be sweet!"
ah yes, the perennial battle between surfing and shore fishing. I've had guys cast right at me....thanks for being cool about sharing the ocean
