Use sand crabs, shrimp or blood worms works great the waves should mellow out by that time just keep your eye on the weather report and good luck have fun fishing.
Thanks for info. So many guys now a days don't want to give any tips or info. I've walked down there and asked people before what they were fishing for and just making a little convo, and I only get one word answers and kinda blank face look. How about using those sp minnows out there? Any good? Or how about frozen squid?
Yeah I hate that when that happens.lol.. don't they know there's a big ocean out there fishing is for everyone hot spots always changes fishing is 80% luck and 20% skills but than again if your on a boat with a fish finder now that's cheating.lol..
joseph jinji I'm definitely gonna go out there and try my luck now. I've always wanted to try fishing the surf! I stay around coyote point and oyster point. I just got a few of those daiwa SP minnows. You think they'd work out there?
scorpiontube712 You can talk 101 to 92 half moon bay West then take Highway 1 North towards Pacifica keep heading North until you see a big sign Rockaway Beach on your Left off 1 that's the scenic rout. Or N 101 to San Mateo take W 92 to Half Moon Bay then take N 280 till you hit Westborough Blvd. take a left on Westborough Blvd. Till you hit highway 1 you'll be going on and overpass make a R- on Francisco Blvd. enter the highway South on Highway 1 and you'll see Rockaway Beach on your right I think this way is faster good luck and keep fishing.
Come to my page so you can look at what kind of equipment to use for fishing here in the bay just click on my affiliate accounts thanks. crabzillapacifica.blogspot.com/

The truth is there's a difference in the way it's designed some cuts in deeper in the water due to the lip or the scoop but it all depends on how you retrieve it but all in all there similarity is equal. But the type of color does make a difference I do get more hits on a white pearl color most of the time but to each it's own just keeping your eye's out for bait balls gives you a better chance in your success. I tell ya I've cast all sorts of lures in my arsenal on a beach where there's birds diving close to shore and didn't get not even one hit.lol.. Not allot of these RUclipsrs would tell there fans but just keeping it real thanks for the response good luck.
THANK YOU!!! I'm just a 15 year old kid that's obsessed with fishing and has been trying to get a striper for about a year now I've hooked on to one on the north beach of rockaway and I saw its head peak out of a breaking wave and right then the hook popped out so from then on I've been try lots of times to get a striper and I've been thinking of trying sharp park beach and ocean beach more. anyways thank you for the response it will defiantly help
Ocean Beach better yet down near the horse stables where John Daly stops it's hitting down there you have a better chance but a long walk though good luck kiddo just keep trying.
joseph jinji Dope. I'm in SF and used to snaring from shore and surf fishing at OB, China, and Baker, but was looking for a new beach to check out in the area and Rockaway keeps getting recc'd. Thanks for the reply!

What kind of bait u use for stripe bass in that area?
Tiger Gray Sand crabs soft shell work's great but on the pier you need to use live anchovies for striper or salmon on a fish finder rig.

You ever see people crab snaring from this beach?
P yes you actually have a better chance in catching big crabs off the beach especially a cove like Rockaway.
