    But a friend applied for citizenship in November 2019 and we are in June 2021 still nothing. He calls Immigration and they keep telling him no decision has been taken.

    Very good video. Interesting policy with regards to dual citizenship. Pity more (all) countries don't have such a policy.
    Basically Ukraine has ethical and authentic citizenship rules, much to be respected. No good reason for a non Ukrainian person to try be Ukrainian when they are not.
    Good policy. Blood and soil in this instance is a fair and wise policy.
    Regardless of current troubles Ukraine will live on as Ukraine long after many Western nations will no longer be around. Longer term future for Ukraine is incredibly good.

You come to Ukraine and get married, you then have to apply for a Visa D then leave Ukraine and go to another country like Poland to hand in the paperwork to the embassy. Depending on how much you are willing to pay determines the next part , you can stay in Poland while it is being processed or go back to Ukraine and return to Poland when it has been approved, there is no other way unless you want to stay in Poland for ten days to wait for it but for a lot of people it is financially better to go back . A lot depends on what country you are from . I am English and the cost of the Visa D was $1,800 if processed in 10 days , if I wanted it in 5 days it cost double , $3,600 .
      After living in Ukraine with the Visa D for two years you can app,y for immigration, then a year after that you can apply for citizenship. Hope that helps make things clearer

      @Olga Reznikova dear Olga,
      I understand your emoticon reaction. But you have to understand that his question is not as dumb as it looks to you!
      In some countries you can adopt even grown-ass adults. For example, Italy is one of those countries.
      A good friend and colleague from Poland is adopted this way at an age mid 30 and became the Italian citizenship.
      So you see his question isn't that stupid anymore now you know this.
      Now..for me..i am wondering if there is a way around it to not give up my EU passport while getting Ukraine passport?
      I know some foreigners did it somehow. I spend lots of time in Ukraine since 2012. Now I also instruct armed forces in Kiev in training center as I worked for NATO 16 years. My fiancé is also Ukrainian. I don't really need the passport as I can visit visa free anyway 6months per year. But still would want it without giving up my golden passport.
      I know many people have dual citizenship in Ukraine but for Ukraine, only the Ukrainian is valid which I am ok with.
      Greeting from Belgium.

    You information is not quite accurate or correctly presented.
    I was born in Ukraine and I left in 1997
    I never officially abandoned my Ukrainian citizenship , I simply never renewed my passport .
    I became a citizen of Canada in 2001.
    Recently I contacted Ukrainian Consulate and was advised that One NEVER loses his /her citizenship unless it is removed or the individual applied for the renunciation of citizenship
    I was told that I can freely apply for my Ukrainian passport and I will be granted one by birth. Always . No one told me to throw my Canadian passport out of the window.
    What you have probably ment is that a person may have dual citizenship but only ONE citizenship will be regarded as VALID when he /she crosses Ukrainian border. It also applies to those who would like to obtain Ukrainian citizenship via legal means ( marrieage etc) - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ABANDON your current citizenship.
    I hope I have clarified it a bit for others

      I am English and married to a Ukrainian, living in kharkiv. If I take Ukrainian citizenship I lose my British citizenship and pension. I think it works differently with almost every country having it's own arrangements

    • @Ukrainiancouple

      @@Olga_Reznikova I don't understand your question.. I assume the gentleman above me was born in Ukraine (as was I), so he should have his Ukrainian birth certificate, and he must have been registered at an address before leaving Ukraine. With a Ukrainian birth certificate and proof of registration (it doesn't even have to be active, can be expired registration) from a ЦНАП he can get a Ukrainian ID passport in a month or so. Ta-da he is a citizen of Ukraine and another country :)

    Good info, very nice 🙂. How to visit ukraine for short visit and which cities be visit or not? How much the cost for a month ?

    • @UserUser-ww2nj
      @UserUser-ww2nj 3 года назад

      Cost for a month depends on many factors. An apartment can cost around $300 but it depends on the quality you want , some will be less and some ,more, visit booking.com to get an idea . Same with food , depends on if you want to eat out all the time or cook at the apartment. Food is cheap but good in the supermarkets and the markets are great value. Be careful about the water, never use the tap water for drinking, even when boiled , you will need imodium for the next 24 hours.What you do during the day will be one of your biggest experiences depending on what you do . Museums are cheap for entry tickets and there are lots of parks in the main cities . If you are sensible you could allow $50-$75 per day for food and going out , the public transport is amazingly cheap

      Is your son not already got some documents, residency, even if born there, he likely will need to try apply just like everyone else. Possible first live there some time, get a resident permit first. Also try contact Olga at her email, given in video description
