I'm about to attempt this when I have some time off from work in the near future. Your video is exactly what I need. I actually watched this about a year of more ago and purchased the capacitors you provided the amazon link for. Now I just have to dig through my tool cabinet and find them. Haha Thanks for sharing such useful information! I'll give an update after I decide to tackle this job.
@@Petruccio1881 I finally followed through and did the job! It works great, and I used your video for everything step by step. Then I just watched it backwards to put it all back together. Unfortunately I was a little too forceful with the middle left air vent and snapped it near the top part. No big deal though as that is very easy to replace. Thanks again!!!
When removing the capacitor tin the tip of the solder iron with solder, just a little, then heat the connection. The solder transfers heat quicker. You can hold the solder iron a bit longer as the circuit will take the heat OK. Watch to see the solder melting. ( I fixed electronics for 35 years. )
I have a Prius I bought new in 2008. It currently has 320,000 miles. It has this problem from time to time. After watching this, it's pushed me over the edge to buy a new Prius. lol
Your video is really helpful ,I appreciate you posting it. I've got to do this but a bit worried I'll put it back togather wrong or break a fragile part.
FYI - If there is anyone left like me (Dec 2024).... By far the easiest way to get it working temporarily. The driver door open light shows in the dash when working correctly. When the dash goes out that driver door open light also is out. Power the car off (might have to hold the power off button in for a bit). Open the driver door. The door open light will not be showing. Leave the car powered off and start using as much electrical as possible (turn headlights off/on, turn emergency flashers on, turn interior lights on, push brake pedal) (that's all I have ever had to do). Eventually the door open light will come on and it is working again. It is a capacitor problem and I think this discharges the capacitor(s) and resets the problem (temporarily). I learned this from someone on YT but I don't know who so I can't give credit but I thank him every time it occurs. I bought new capacitors but would rather not have to go through this repair. I'll see how it goes. My 2007 Prius is awesome!
Can you link me the little capacitor that you used? I literally know nothing about electronics or those little numbers and stuff and what they mean. but I do know how to solder. I had to do something similar to this on my radio to get my AC controls back but getting info on the little resistor was kinda hell to find and there are so many different kinds!
This will be my first attempt at soldering, but this detailed tutorial honestly has me not worried at all. What was that paste/goop you used with the soldering gun/pen?
Will this show up with ANY scan tool? Also,, would a bad combo meter cause one headlight to not come on? Turning headlights on/off and not headlights come one LL- similar to resetting dash lights quick fix. Thanks
Hello thank you for your video.I have prius 2 nd generation. The Problem is when i go to the gass station when put the fuel to the tank of car it's reject.(by the sorry my english)and also the fuel gauge shows in correct what should be reasons?thank you
yes, that is very common problem on gen 2 prius... once I ran out of gas when the gauge was showing 3 cubes. I disconnected 12 volt battery for 10 minutes and now it works fine, also you can calibrate fuel gauge, here is a link - m.ruclips.net/video/_es6nB8OEzc/видео.html
Thank you so much you saved me so much money!!! I was able to do the job without complication thanks to your video. thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy that my video helped you, there is no better feeling then to read comment that my video is useful for others, thank you!

Thanks for watching, it's pleasure to hear that the video helps you... Let me know when you do it and how it will work. Success!

Great to the point video with text overlays! Thank you!
My buddy did the soldering part but I did the rest, thank you so much for the help
I'm glad that the video helped you 👍

Great idea 🙂
Bruh you just saved me $1000
Excellent precise to the point 👍
Just orders that lil capacitor thing rn. We’ll see how it all goes soon

Yes, some parts are fragile, be careful with air conditioner outlet

thanks for watching, this is 220uf 16v capacitor, here is the link on amazon - www.amazon.com/dp/B07YN6NPTL/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_0r5YDbV8FZ34X

I'm glad that my video will help you, I used regular soldering flux. thanks for watching
Witam. Czy przyczyna takiej usterki jest ten właśnie kondensator który wymieniles czy moze być tak ze uszkodzony będzie inny kondensator?
Hi, capacitors are getting dry when they get old and just fail, that is normal, no any other reason.
This detailed video helps
thanks for watching
What's that goo you're dipping the solder in? Is it flux?
Yes
Thank You I just did mine🙏
thanks for watching
any advice on how to keep track of all the screws and where they go back?
Take photos, that's the most easy and effective way.
Will this show up with ANY scan tool?

Thanks
I don't think that bad combo meter could cause one headlight not to light on
Were you just testing the voltage across the capacitor or?
At 7:10
Hi I like your video so much and could you let me know the capacitor number you have changed, I have Toyota Prius 2005 2nd generation thanks
hi, thanks for watching, I've replaced 100 microfarad 16v capacitor with 220 microfarad 16v, it works great so far

can i put 220 25V transistor instead 100 16V?
yes, you can, no problem
thanks @@Petruccio1881
big job
Is there any Difference between SMD and Normal Capacitors in 220uF 16V ? Because they look different. Reply me because i am going to fix this
hello, I don't know exactly, maybe it will work, but just buy a regular one
@@Petruccio1881 Thanks 🙏
I’ll pay you for 10 minutes of labor to do mine. Lol
no problem, I would do that even for free, that's my hobby, but I'm too far away, on another continent 😂
Vous êtes où ?
I'm at home, why are you asking?
