- This past March, I spent a week in Sedona, Arizona. A place that is easily becoming one of my most favorite place to visit. This was my second time back and in this video, I go through one of Sedona's most popular 4x4 trail, the Broken Arrow Trail
Broken Arrow Trail is a 2.8 mile out and back trail. It is considered moderately challenging and takes about 1.5 hours to complete.
Sedona, Arizona, Off-roading, Overlanding, Adventure
Man, solo and filming on this trail 🫡. I love the views on that trail. Nicely filmed, wind noise is fine.
Thanks!
I'm on my 5th 4Runner Gens 3-5... Absolutely Love em... Just got back from Sedona & did it in a Jeep Gladiator... the whole time I was missing my 4Runner... Your Pro didnt even break a sweat.... Great Video!
Gotta love those 4Runners! Regardless of past and future generations, I don't see myself ever not driving a 4Runner :D
@@francisngo I'll have at least one until I die... Japanese Samurai Swords...
Such an Epic Video Francis, Amazing Footage . . . Wow, I Can't wait till your next adventure!
Great video! A lot of work!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Incredible opening footage.
nice video! Sedona is an awesome place
Beautiful video
Very nice video and so authentic and real. Keep it up.
Thank you!
stunning trail!
It sure was!
Thankyou AWESOME..!! STAY SAFE.
Cool video you did a great job! I Subscribed.
This makes me wish I took my 4Runner to Arizona a few months ago
When you were talking about your line choices at Devil’s staircase, I thought “Why doesn’t he just drive over the large rock (as in put your tire on it)”. Looks like that’s what you actually did. Pretty sure that’s the best way to not take out your differential.
You should post a video with the process of wrapping this truck. I had a Barcelona Red 4R also and loved the color. But that quicksand color….bad ass.
Yeah, total agree with this comment. Also, how long does the wrap last? How do you maintain it? And what was the cost? Cover photo shows some red peaking out to the lift gate, is there no way to avoid that?
I love this video! I like how you’re “real” and not making it seem easier than it is. And you explain things in a way that’s easily understood.
Unfortunately I don’t think I could make it down Devils Staircase with stock clearance. Can I do Broken Arrow and avoid DS?
Could have done it with less tire slip maybe it looked muddy and fun! Did you use A-trac?
balls! I just did this trail and not gonna lie I got lost on a couple of the open rock parts lol. The stairs at the end were steep!
Great vid!
It’s such a fun trail. So many obstacles. So many views. It was a great time, very thrilling!
Great Job!!!!!!! Very informative...... doing trail 9/27/22
Very nice looking 4Runner. What year is it? I ran this trail, several years ago, in my 1986 Toyota 4X4 pick up. It was beautiful and fun. My current rig is a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium, with some moderate mods. 3 inch lift, front trail camera, rock sliders, and a drawer / sleeping platform system in the back. I really love the 4Runner. It's a pleasure to daily drive and it's very capable off road. I enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Thanks! It is a 2020. Broken Arrow is full of fun and gorgeous views. A trail I see myself going back to over and over next time I am in Sedona.
I'm wondering if you let more air out of your tires it would've made less noise? Idk, just wondering if that helps in a situation like this
Love your videos. With your 3 in. lift, how much clearance do you have?
Great video! You might want to consider saying "obstacle" instead of "problem", I kept thinking there was something wrong haha
Thanks! I still struggle to find words when talking in front of a camera. Plus, I still consider myself a novice off-roader. Appreciate the tip.
Look very nice
Great video! Did you install wheel spacers? If so, does your steering wheel shakes when you go over 50 mph?
No wheel spacers. I have SCS wheels which have a -12 offset. Would recommend going away from wheel spacers as they put extra load on the wheel bearings and can cause damage especially for off-roading vehicles. Even if you only drive it on the road, hitting pot holes can cause a pricy damage.
Very nice views of the rocks you live in a state that was made in God's country. I live near the Smokey Mountains
One day I will make it out to the East!
Did you use A-Trac, would help on tire slip in that mud. Looks fun! Cant wait to get my 4Runner in the trails.
Good call out. I didn't use a-trac on this trail but will remember to consider next time I find myself slipping!
Nice trd pro color
Nice
Very nice. How did you have the transmission or other controls set for the staircase decent?
No controls were set just had the 4Runner in 4LO and let gravity takes it course (braking firmly when necessary). It can get really slippery so even when you brake, you can still slide a few inches; that is probably the scariest part - not feeling like you have control.
@@francisngoshould of tried crawl control then?
Thanks for being honest. Would crawl control have helped?
Did you use A-TRAC anytime during your drive? I noticed tire chirp…curious to hear your experience with A-TRAC.
I did not use A-TRAC for this course although it might have been useful in certain situations to avoid tire chirp especially near the texas bump section.
I plan to take my stock 4runner on that trail.
How did it go? I have standard 9.5” lift so I’m wondering if I could complete this drive. Thanks for any info.
Awesome video and Sedona looks incredible. Do you think a stock 4Runner Off Road 5th gen would make that trail?
I would say you would have to know your vehicle very well and be okay with potentially hitting your tow hitch mount and rubbing if the vehicle isn’t lifted.
@@francisngo 2021. I will eventually get a lift and 285s. It might not be till next year. I haven’t done much off roading with it yet. I guess I’ll need to wait and get the lift to be safe. Thanks Francis.
Did you have to use any off roading tools like crawl control, rear locker or down hill control??
I only had rear lockers on for this trail. No crawl control or downhill needed.
Great video and great machine! What year is your 4R...2020?
Yup it’s a 2020!
@@francisngo 👍👍
What size tires are you running and do you have a lift?
285/70R/17 and a 2.5 lift with Icon suspension
285/70R/17 and a 2.5 lift with Icon suspension
@@francisngo did you need to do a BMC?
Great video. Did you ever hit your rock sliders? Those may be my next add.
Thank you! I have not been in a situation where my rock sliders have taken damage. It's still gives me a peace of mind knowing my body is protected though.
Are those really rock sliders? I have the Pro and I think it’s basically just a plastic step. 😂
you left some rubber behind @12:55
Quick sand trd off road?
Yup! It's wrapped
how are there not any other cars or hikers on the road. seems like a hard time , I would not call this moderate for driving
Required a lot of patience setting up the camera and waiting for pink jeep and traffic to pass. It was before the summer season where the trail is less busy. There were still a nice handful of pink jeeps as well as bikers and hikers.
I could have done this in a Prius
