Regarding weight, my guess is the Vbar is denser rubber, hence weighing more. The honey lug is a softer, less dense sole. So maybe that is why they end up being same. Heavy sole and lighter leather on one boot, and lighter sole and heavier leather on the other boot.
That could be the reason! Thanks for the comment! I also weighed the kilties and they are about the same too, for me it’s a non issue though, just didn’t expect them to be the same weight. Will be putting my other boots on the scale too, whites, Franks and Nicks curious about the results!
Love your boots. I recently received my pair of c8cxl Nicks Americanas and I love the richness of the leather. I also dig that W&C EB Tan, have seen a pair with heavier patina and color development than yours at your current stage, so you’re in for a real treat with those as well. Congrats.
You don't mention the model, are they Falcons? I have the same sole on a pair of 18 year old Vibergs. I don't wear mine a lot, mostly walking around oil drilling rig sites and around my yard. Mine might have about 500-1000 hours on them. With this limited wear the soles have stood up very well. The vamp/uppers will last forever. Viberg only used one row of stitching on the soles of my work boots, but they also used about 15 nails/tacks though the outsoles. Unless you wear the boots on very rough surfaces I think these soles will last a long time. Cheers
Hi, I am back here, watching again your video.I am also living in Europe and choosing very carefully before my first order. How is the update of V bar sole? About the stitching, I am wearing Iron Rangers 7 years old with nitrile cork sole.More than 10000 hours and 5000+ miles.Very hard use.The stitching gone after few months but till now I replaced only the heels. May I ask you about the width as I see you are wearing EE. According nicks width sizing chart I am E/EE, 10 1/2 “ for size 10.5US. I was thinking that EE is too much wide but from your video I see that is not too much. The shape looks very good.
The V bar is holding up great! The thread is mostly gone but it will not come off. I have a pair of Franks with the V bar sole that wears better with almost no wear after wearing them for two weeks straight. About the width if your in between E and EE I would go for E. You’ll end up with a tighter fit.
@@willempasman827 Your help is priceless. Thank you! I ask Nicks about the width twice. Two different women. The first one advised me to choose E for snug fit or EE for more loose one. The second one advised me to go to EE. She said the the oiled latigo leather which I choose is very stiff and stretches very little. My Rangers are D as at that time I couldn’t get E here in Europe but they stretched very well and the fit is ok.The thing I don’t like is that the wider arias of my feet going over the stitching and even over the sole edge. And also when I lace them the gap is around 4 cm. All that shows that I need a wider size.
I actually like the 430 mini lug sole more than the V-Bar. It's subjective for sure. The mini lug seems to have more grip though and although the V-Bar has it's positives as well, on wet grass it tends to be a bit slippery. Good video though man.
Thank you! I ordered them for the color 8 burgundy and they are probably HNW last Falcons but in the end it’s supposed to be all the same shape. I heard the color 8 is probably gonna be offered soon at Nicks as a limited run!
Mine were ordered may 2022 but changed the leather a few times and finally ended up with color 8 end of 2022. Still waiting on a couple of pairs from may 2022😅.
@@willempasman827 Good to know. I just placed an order this week of a custom build with the predator whiskey horween leather they got in. I chose soft/unstructured toe at the time but I keep having doubts. Yours look great though! Hopefully I made the right choice.
Hi, I’m buying boots from the USA, it’s expensive and sadly there aren’t (non) many sellers within Europe/the Netherlands. If you need help ordering a pair I could give you some assistance!?
I don’t have JK boots so can’t really say about the quality, they seem to be good quality! Nicks has bison too, great colors! If you mean Horween Cxl oxblood I wouldn’t advise those for work boots. The leather is more for casual wears then water and dirt. Bison is very thick and soft leather which can be used for work boots but you gotta condition them regularly to keep leather in good shape!
Hi, don’t know what you mean exactly, Dutch boot companies like Floris van Bommel and Greve? I have worn those brands in the past they make lightweight dress shoes 👠. Not bad quality 😉

Could be the leather too. The weight is per square foot, so it's denser, but could also be thinner.
Agree w/ EDHBlvd, most likely a more dense rubber on the vbar.

I just received my Nicks Chomeexcel #8’s. Mine are Overlanders with a Four stitch toe cap. They are amazing.

These look really good!!
Excellent review! I had the same thought as EDHblvd.
Thank you! I’m gonna do more videos about other models too. Hope to make them better and more to the point.
Those are beautiful boots
Great boots
Great review! Thank you!

I’m considering getting a pair in burgundy (color8) cxl
What model are those - they look great

When did you order them?
I ordered mine back in December 2022, when they got a small shipment of #8. I'm assuming it will take a few more months.
Mine were ordered may 2022 but changed the leather a few times and finally ended up with color 8 end of 2022. Still waiting on a couple of pairs from may 2022😅.
Beautiful boots. May I ask if those were ordered with unstructured toe (no celastic)?
Yes these are soft toe( no celastic). I like both looks but I find the soft toes are really comfortable.

Hi, I’m buying boots from the USA, it’s expensive and sadly there aren’t (non) many sellers within Europe/the Netherlands. If you need help ordering a pair I could give you some assistance!?

@@quintgijsbers85 yes, you will pay a lot of customs and that is almost inevitable these days🤷🏼♂️.
Whit import cost i come out at around 780 euro and the boots are 580 so indeed thats a lot of tax

3 month update?
honestly I haven't heard of any Netherlands boot companies. Def find a boot maker and do a video on it...
Hi, don’t know what you mean exactly, Dutch boot companies like Floris van Bommel and Greve? I have worn those brands in the past they make lightweight dress shoes 👠. Not bad quality 😉
It's just the exposed stitching wearing, that's a non issue, that sole has no wear on it. Boots are beautiful, enjoy.
I know the construction will be solid after threading is gone but I found it very fast, just found it worthy to point out.
What size are those?
8.5EE
