The patina stitchdown is coming to an end! Had a blast wearing my Frank boots for this competition, hope you people liked them! W & C leather and Franks boots is a golden combination if you ask me! Superb leather and building quality!! No regrets entering this patina stitchdown competition and probably won’t win but still proud to be wearing such high end boots made by Franks!

This is another video about boots, this time about Franks boots and the patina stitchdown competition. It’s a bit unplanned but it became a bit of a rant about patina stitchdown competition! Although I like the competition, seeing all these great boots getting worn for 6 months developing nice patina’s. Especially the heritage section some boots look like they are sandblasted. That said I’m hap...

So discussing sizing, lasts and custom/import charges will help you decide what boots to order. Hope to see you at the group American Boots Central Discussion Europe (ABCDE) !

Good video buddy! Nice boots right there.
Nice video and boots. The Monkeys are very nice looking but I think Monkeys are funny looking boots in general and don't look great on people. They remind me of bowling shoes.. You need to get some JK, White's and Wesco in there. White's is the OG and started it all. Wesco has been going strong for over 100 years. All great companies.
I agree about the stitching on the outsoles, either channel em or don't even stitch through the outsole
To be fair, on a lace to toe, the upper quarter doesn't cut off under that seam. It goes all the way to the welt underneath the vamp.
No need to be sorry :) I love your videos, too! I find it great that you share your passion and what you like. I love boots and the craft of making them as well. Groetjes!
maryam natural or tuscanello?
Most cobblers cut a channel for the stitches with a hand tool. They’re talking no sense. It’s so simple to do that and it looks awful without it. Surprising they would say it too.
Hello! Can I ask you what size do you wear on franks,Nicks, truman and red wing 875 or Iron ranger ? I'll like to know just to get an Idea about the sizing .
@@Idcelestial I wear all 8.5 (EE) in all those brands. In high arch lasts 8EE. I Brannock at 9.2 US.
Thanks
i wish i had all of these lol
Do you have any videos on Ariat wool boots. Whenever I look up “Ariat” it’s always the cowboy ones. I want to watch a good video on their work boots . Specifically the steel toe versions
I’m loving these videos!!!!
Enjoyed your video. Some very nice boots.
Monkey boots looks so great
It's impossible for the stitches to be locked when they're worn through like that. The only thing holding them at that point is the glue. They're talking nonsense, and they should cut a channel for the stitches to lay in
Nah, it’s not necessary. The glue is incredibly strong and the sole ain’t going anywhere. The rubber will wear away and require a resole long before the glue would fail.
@@MordecaiAliVanAllenOShea You're right, the glue will hold, but if they're going to leave the stitches exposed, they should stitch the midsole and slip sole, then just glue the outsole on. Passing both lines of stitches through the outsole just so they can be abraded away makes no sense; at that point it may as well be a cemented construction
@@MordecaiAliVanAllenOShea I see separation of the rubber and leather at the toe area, if that gets bigger and bigger I will need to glue it down. Maybe I’ll get rid of the double stitching and make a channel and hand-stitch it back.
The monkey boot is basically a ltt
Beautiful boots.W&C leather is a top quality.
I find the lower arch pnw lasts( like wesco) whites 610, hnw etc still have really good support.
As you said, both nice boots. I love LTT.
Gorgeous boots, love that green stitching!
Do you still have any of your Whites? Or did you sell them off? I remember you were frustrated by how wide the Stitchdown lip was. I also think they make them too wide compared to Nicks and Franks.
@@EDHBlvd i sold of the Whites mainly because of the extreme wide stitchdown area. Could drive and hit everything with those. Nicks does the best sanding job, Franks it’s a bit miss or hit.
@@willempasman827I figured as much and agree with you. Whites leaves way too much of a ledge.
That wax flesh on the Trumans looked excellent
@@65strad it does look so much better now!
Beautiful collection, thanks for showing them to us.
Glad to see a new video from you. 🤙🫡
Damn these are gorgeous. If Nick's ever offers these on the ThurmanNW, I'm there.
Love to see a collection video.. Like whats ur favorites and how they are holding up...
They surely didn’t look like that after only 12 wears??
How long does custom boots take.
Those are killer boots!
That’s awesome, i love those. I’m a three hour drive from home to Spokane and when my wife and I went that model is what Frank himself was wearing when he fit me. I’m waiting on a rebuild of my White’s 6” Foreman’s and in an MTO of 4” Highlander’s. I’d love to get a pair of Ryker’s for a summer work boot since I’m going to order commanders but now my wife wants a pair of Franks as well 😂
@@scottc77 I watched the rykers model a lot on videos from Frank’s and decided I needed a pair and they are awesome just like the people at Franks boots!
Nice! I'm looking at a pair of monkeys from Frank's, too. Possibly in tan. Question: I thought those work patches made break in super tough. I was going to get the dress patch or maybe no patch at all since mine won't be for work. Am I mistaken? Also, I'm probably going to go for the 55 last because I love the arch support and I'm spoiled on it now. What last are yours made on?
@@averyj.steele1074 I don’t think the work or dress patches will make breaking in much more difficult, the leather choice might be more important. Mine are super flexible because the leather is thin (Maryam horsehide + leather liner ) and soft. I like the look of the patches especially the work patch so just do it if you like them! The last is HNW which is standard for the monkeys I thought. But if you like 55 then that is what you should order! Can’t go wrong with these monkeys 🐒
@@willempasman827 Thanks!
Look exactly like a pair of Caterpillar Heritage Boots I bought over 10 years ago...
@@thor4odin749 could be, the same heel and stitchdown? Or just the canvas part?
dome is such a stupid idea
@@thatsAkeepernow I think the idea is great, celebrate the passion for well made Boots together and the ‘winners’ get prices! But I don’t like element to almost fabricate patina. Some of those boots look 3/4 years old after 6 months. I won’t enter again.
What’s the build specs on those franks boots ? I absolutely love them and would love to get me a pair like those but in an 8” or 10” height..
@@lyodbraun that would be awesome! Lace to toe Olive waxed flesh with natural waxed flesh lineman flap. HNW last with vbar and block heel. Blue stitching and celastic toe.
These are awesome
Awesome pair. Congratulations

Wow, cool boots. Thanks for showing them to us!
Good info, thank you. I really like the look of LTT boots.
Wow, gorgeous boots. Great idea to go with the green toe bug, too.
They are great!
I think Nick’s boots are by far the best quality, craftsmanship and leather, definitely a top tier company
Nicks makes great quality boots! They don’t do real custom orders and you have to buy what they sell. Also Franks boots are a little more sturdy they are structurally 200 grams heavier and have mackay stitching something Nicks stopped doing.
Have you ever heard of the rose anvil channel here on RUclips? Guy cuts alot of boots in half like this and goes over the build. Might be a good reference if you want to see a good amount of different boots if you are curious.
I have cut these Chippewa and several other boots about 5 years ago, back then there was some other guy/channel cutting Red wing boots in two and that made me curious. Rosé anvil took the idea and made it into a business model. So yes I know Rose Anvil and seen his videos.
Love them. really beautiful and very comfortable, high quality.
Nick looking boots. I think the Wickett & Craig boots are a veg tanned leather that is supplied by W&C as opposed to the other Free Range boots that are Chromexcel dyed by whoever supplies Nicks leather. I was always disappointed with the V-bar or Chevron sole because the stitching wears so easily and it looks horrible once the stitching wears. I'd rather have no stitching with this style of sole and just glued on.
🤩 Promo-SM
I prefer taller [8 or 10] but I wish they would put another lace out toward the toe.
I'm not sure how the stitching difference with the vamp over the upper will affect the performance long-term compared to the separate upper or however that is described of the regular boots, but so far the 55 is comfy to me.
Some other brands look like they have more giant toe areas, which I don't think looks as pleasant but then it kind of varies from boot to boot if my foot feels constricted in the toes.
Yes, I agree about that outsole issue, ESPECIALLY driving even in Thursday boots!!
From what I've gathered, Frank's has thicker leather overall, so I decided that I would not get them now and went with the Nick's instead. Frank's will surely have a roomier toe area, I imagine.
@@Highland_Paddy I think Frank and Nicks use the same lasts HNW and 55 last but somehow the fit can be different. I think Franks builds more the old style work boots and Nicks is leaning a bit more to fashion boots for a lot of there models.
Half down from brannock?
White's boots will measure your feet to ensure you have the best walking experience. I am not sure if Nick's boots offer the same service, but it is likely as Nick's boots come from White's. It is important to have a properly fitting pair of boots, especially since White's and Nick's boots are essentially the same and can be quite expensive. Thanks for your video.
Yes I did those years ago, this is maybe my 30th pair of Nicks, Whites, Franks, Wesco, Viberg. Getting the right size is certainly important but somehow even if they use the same lasts there are differences you can’t anticipate. Whites the original, like they say but I feel Franks and Nicks have added to the mix and like their style more.
