Ryan is so young here. Watching this six years later 2024, we all have gotten older and better. Rocking it! Great rendition!
I first heard this tune in the last days of 1979. I was listening to the radio, crashing on a friend's sofa, the evening before flying out to California to take a new job. Though I didn't feel very much at all like a refugee, I was indeed leaving behind the town where I went to uni, a place that felt comfortable and familiar. The song struck a chord, and LLB has struck it again with this stirring rendition. Thanks for this, from a long-time TP fan; you take me right back there, 40+ years on. All your Petty covers are wonderful tributes to a truly great artist, now sadly gone, far too soon.
I like that you've captured his singing style, without trying to do a strict impression of him. Very nice.
Typically great playing by LLB, and holy cow that vocal! I can close my eyes listening to this and think Tom Petty is still alive.
My favorite Tom Petty song - superb execution all the way, vocals and of course the stellar musicianship! Incredible.
I'm a huge Tom Petty fan and this is my favourite........I didn't want to be disappointed ......and I wasn't!! Absolutely brilliant on all levels. It's hard to get that relaxed but strong groove and you nailed it!
Even got the Rickenbacker and everything!🎸
Excellent job on this great song guys. 👍 RIP Tom Petty.
The more I watch this version, the more amazing it gets. Great job!
I continue to be blown away by LLB and how you select the right musicians for the right song. I echo a previous comment: outstanding cover / great vocal without trying to imitate the great Tom Petty. Well done LLB.
Thanks for watching and for your support!
I’d like LLB to do “Don’t come around here no more!”
And to the 2 ppl who disliked this one......... go back under your rock
Go listen to Wayne Newton.
@@steelepls 😂😂😂
Always thought it was Roger McGuinn singing lead on this (Roger denied it in an email reply to my inquiry) and this version even captures that. Well done. Have heard Roger and Tom were quite close including collaborating on "King of the Hill"' Maybe Petty was doing his best Roger McGuinn imitation on "Refugee". Sure sounds like Roger to me.
When you crank that Hammond B-3 up you are singing my song my friend. Another big well done since I was a Tom Petty fan as well. I have to admit though when he sang with the Traveling Wilbury's with all that other talent that in itself was a wondrous thing. Well done guys, well done.
Just awesome! Love Steve's vocals.
phew..how gr8 is this cover!!!!!!
Really, really good! Rock on!
I instantly got chills……then this performance
Nailed it!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite Petty song, and you guys did it up big time. Mike is an artist the way he puts the right people where they should be.
Awesome cover guys!!
WOW!!
Why do I want to buy the CD set? This band make me FEEL good!
Good news - You can download all our material for free on our website!
I enjoy your covers of Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks! Would love to see the leads come together for Stop Draggin' my Heart Around.
To the band: You are no doubt the greatest cover band around. How about this: the world NEEDS a band to cover the Moody Blues! There are a couple of Moodies' covers out there, including one with tour drummer Gordie Marshall, but they just don't get the job done. Keep up the good work.
Excellent Job. Great musicians all way around. Thanks for your hard work in putting together this and all your other videos. You guys have become my favorite Band since Boston and Cheap Trick. Awesome team of players.
What a great cover
Awesome
Just Brilliant
Excellent. These guys are professionals. They know what they’re doing.
Rickenbacher 👍
Keyboards made this rendition pop. Great job
All your songs are a good pick me up,great job fo.ks ❤
Excellent
Loved Tom Petty and you guys nailed this one. Awesome. Great cover.
An all time favorite artist and song. Tom was unique. His style unmatched. LLB pulled it off greatly.
I hope I'm not sounding too much like a broken record, But That Was Absolutely Beautiful !! Thank you so Very Much for Including Tom Petty in your Tribute. He and His Heartbreakers were a Regular on my cassette player in my van, as we drove through town in the early 80's. Awesome LLB.
Great lead vocal, as ever you capture the spirit of the original and it looks like you all enjoyed this one! 👍
Hey guys supposed to be loading my car for a trip out to San Antonio for a week for a ministry conference and here I am listening to Vandee crank up that B-3. Oh well, a man gotta do what he gotta do. Take care and God bless as always.
Outstanding!!! 👏👏👏💯💯💯😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘
Vandy, you kicked on the B3 part, one of my favorites! EXCELLANTE!!
Supposed to be packing my stuff up for the trip out your way and Sunday night but here I sit smiling, and I was already smiling before because I am listening to you folks again and I got to go. See you soon folks Lord willing. I am stoked and smiling like an old Cheshire cat. Take care and God bless.
Excellent 👏👏👏👏
I swore it was 1979 all over again.. You guys are too good,, gonna listen again with volume cranked all the way up...Kudos....
R E F U G E
Rickenrockin'...you've done 'em proud👍
🇨🇦
Great tribute!
❤️
It burns me up that you guys only have 139k subs….there are channels from talentless pretty faces who do absolutely nothing of value to our future and have millions of subscribers…,,please keep it up and eventually the world will realize how valuable you guys Are to the future of music
Fan freaking taskik
I mean, its mostly great like LLB always is, BUT......
The Drummer did NONE of the signature fills, I meant NONE.
What the hell? Did he have no time to learn it? These guys set expectations really high with years of spot on performances, but I gotta say the drumner let me down on this one. Good timing, sure, but none of the nuances of the original performance.
Thanks for the review
Wonderful.
