I tried doing a low-spend for 2024. I certainly spent way less than usual, but more than I would have liked! I'm doing another low-spend challenge for 2025! It can only get better as my values clarify and I get stronger!
@@AdrienneEESantiago I'm going to try my hardest to do a low spend 2025. It will be hard because I'm moving and will need new furniture. I've already decided what I will look for in thrift shop and what I will buy new or try to find on marketplace. I've set a budget for each item and will save and pay in full for each piece. It may take awhile but I'm not going into anymore debt.
I don't know if it's the same in the US, but here you really need to watch 'specials' with a VERY jaundiced eye. For example, cans of Pepsi were promoted at '30 x 2 cartons for $52" while the 24 cans were $20 - or CHEAPER per can and I wasn't stuck lugging two heavy cartons home. Then there's the '50% off RRP' when the item was NEVER EVER sold at that "RRP", so it's just marketing BS. Nice list Sara - THANK-YOU! We're nervously watching your election - I think you are in for some interesting times ahead! Cheers from Oz!
Very tricky of them! I'm from the US and someone online said that some of the beauty products for men are cheaper than the same thing in the women's section! She was right. I saw that the Biore Pore Strips at Target are $2.00 cheaper in the men's section!
I have a pitcher on my counter that i use to fill with the water while it gets hot for dishes. I used that water for all sorts of things. Definitely do not waste water.
Great tips and tricks for frugal living. These are all very practical and easy to implement. I always check my pantry before shopping and always make a list also. This keeps me from buying unnecessary food items and also helps me remember what I do need to buy.
I’ve invested in garden solar lights and put them on our landing and bathroom window ledges and hope they’ll save us putting the upstairs lights on for as long. They do seem to help! If I turn the lights on, I turn them so the little solar panels face the dominant light source so that helps too!
@@lynnec5395 it’s fantastic! If it saves you turning a light on for an hour a day in your cold season that really adds up and in your hottest season it’s a lot longer!

I am 51 years old and I don't think I ever let the water run while brushing my teeth (3 minutes!) Or when I wash my hands. I think that is really common here in Germany. Saving the change even if not using physical money is fantastic. Unbelievable how much money that brings over time. All the best❤

Please tell your husband that he can replace his battery rather than giving up the phone. The Apple Store did it for me once, a cellphone repair place the second time. IMO, the older iPhones are MUCH better than the newer ones.
I only shop when there is a very good deal going on. Most of the time I can go without shopping for extended periods because there is enough food already in my house. My stores are 25 miles away. I tend to go grocery shopping about every 3 weeks.
Do yourselves a favor........quit target, costco, bj's, snacking, starbucks all together. I have and I don't miss them! Most of these stores just sell junk and processed foods and imported crap from China . No thank you!

We do Secret Santa in my family, and we are supposed to submit some things you want, within a price limit, and I'm having a hard time thinking of things I want as a present.
For your secret santa, what's a small consumable indulgence you enjoy in Winter or Spring but avoid buying? Some nice coffee? A selection of teas? Items to have an at-home spa day? A small, pretty thermos to carry coffee or a hot snack? Some fancy spices or sauces you usually don't buy? Or a kit to try a craft you're interested in exploring

Impulsive buying no more , when I see something that I like , I questioned myself do I really need it? Do I have the money for it? I’m I going to use it or wear it? If I answer no to any of these questions it stays on the rack … but it is still hard sometimes tho
Fellow New York State . Does target still give you five cents a bag even though we are state mandated to bring our own bags? Because I just wanna make sure the next time I go to target and I say where’s my five cents. 😂
I'm frugal in many ways but timing showers is way too frugal for me -- not worth pinching pennies in that area. I can't imagine "rushing" my shower time for the sake of saving next to nothing in return. But to each their own.
I hate taking showers. So I never have to time mine because they are quick. Now my teenager on the other hand. His are timed otherwise he'd never get out. had nothing to do with "pinching pennies" for us.
I thought the same thing when I did it a couple months last year. It takes a moment to make yourself look and see if you have something that will do the same job as want you want, I found I usually did. Take inventory and organize all the bottles of shampoos, lotions, body scrubs, samples, etc and use them up before buying anymore…let’s just say, I didn’t have to buy anymore for a couple months 😅. Side notes: I also realized I had to toss out several deodorants, lotions, etc as they were shoved in the back of the cabinets and more placed in front of them and they had all expired. So now, I purchase one when the reserve one is opened. As for clothes, I pulled mine out and did a mix match of outfits that I wouldn’t have thought of because I always just grabbed the same thing, so in a way, I shopped my closet for different looks and hung any accessories I wanted to wear with the outfit (money, stress-free and time savers). I carried a little notebook in my purse and if I saw something I really wanted, I made note of what it was no matter if it was a small or large purchase. It also gave me ideas of new body scrub smells I wanted to try after I cleared out the backlog. Some items that were not bought on the list, I wrote the items on my Christmas wish list! Family loved it as they had a real good list. In the initial stages of no-spendings it has an adjustment moment but it becomes a habit or game with yourself of how good you did after leaving the store. To help with grocery shopping, I keep a notebook on the kitchen counter with things we have ran out of and needs to be replaced. My stores you do have the option of them shopping for you and you just drive and pick-up or have them delivered. The goal with either way is to stop the ease of having impulse buying at the registers. If you do shop for essential things have a quiet saving method. The credit union I bank with allows you to sign up for a program that adds up what you spent for the day and after the total is calculated, it subtracts the dollar amount rounded up versus actual costs and the difference goes into a fund to build up silent savings. Those were things that stood out the most for me.
