My son recently bought a Leon as his first car and had some glitches, front passenger and drivers rear both sticking locks- central locking n/w. Lubricated externally, changer the fob battery = basics. He came round unable to open the passenger from inside or out today, searched for door card removal and came across this gem of a video! Used this to fix the front lock and also applied the same theory to the drivers rear which wouldn’t open from the outside after unlocking without first time opening from inside then was fine until locked again, drill and spraying fixed this similar issue the same!! Most grateful for your tutorial!!
I done this trick to my SEAT LEON mk2, which had the same problem (central locking not working/sticking) and after spraying wd40 and letting it soak-in, I wiped everything down and sprayed some grease into hole and then sealed it with some silicone sealant. That was 2 yrs ago (2019) and it's worked perfectly ever since!! I also sprayed rear door locks with wd40 as they were sticking too. Both have worked without problems since.
IT WORKED ON Seat Altea 2007. For 2 years I had all 4 doors with this issue (I could hear a buzz when trying to open the door, but could only open from inside). I finally decided to order the locks and install them myself to save some money. Before that, I found this video and gave it a try. On the rear doors I had to remove the locks due to insufficient space to operate (it takes 5 minutes more). IT WORKED INSTANTLY. THANKS.
After paying over £200 for a new module for the rear door, I gave this a try when the two front doors refused to unlock. After 20mins work they are both working perfectly. Thank you so much!!!!
Since 4 years i had to open 2 of my seat leon 2 doors from inside, now it's working !!! Rear lock was not easy to drill, i had to drill much lower but worked well, do not drill deep. Many thanks, i saved hundred & hundred €, seat wanted to take alot money, i wanted to buy the locks on Aliexpress 22€ each and change it myself but you saved my time & my € ! 🧡
Holy Shit!!!!! This is the best hack ever. I've just tried it on my drivers side door & it only bloody works. If only I knew this before I paid to get passenger side fixed. If you have AC90 may be better to use lobdterm instead, as its a lubricator. WD40 worked too though. Thankyou .Seat Altea XL.

I came across this after the inlaws could not get the passenger side to unlock or lock, 2 mins i had the inside off, drilled a hole with a wood bit , filled with WD40 and instantly started working thank yoU!
Worked a treat on my 2011 Leon FR too !! I am the least practical person in the world ! But this was so simple... Didn’t work straight away ... so thought I had failed ! Left the car overnight and this morning hey presto .. door unlocked and had been working fine since ... Just another 2 doors to go now ! Thanks for a really useful video
You're a genius men!! I repaired the two right hand side door locks modules with your fixe, but I had to wait to whole night and this morning the two doors can be opened from outside! You save me a lot of time and money, Thank you
Honestly, I’ve been skeptical about this since I never get lucky with such easy cheap solutions, but it actually WORKS! I repaired three doors of my 2010 seat Altea Freetrack :). It took me few hours though, mostly with the removal of the door panels (different way for front and rear doors). Thanks for uploading this video!
Omg my three doors haven't worked in years and didn't wanna pay so much to fix , followed ur instructions on front left, left overnight and works perfectly!! Legend thank you so much 👌😊 next job to try the rear 2 doors which won't be easy

Awesome. I will be doing mine later on. Will tell when it works. Thanks for comment man! Give me more hope to do it this way. Anyhow I would like to first test a new battery and electric issues.
Fixed all my doors using this method, 2 in the back and 2 front doors. All uses wd40 working perfect. Did take a day or 2 for the front door to start working. So thankfull for this tip!
Speechless, works like a charm literally took seconds. Would advise when drilling to drill you till you feel you've past the onto the other side of plastic or else you'll spray whatever and the door will still stay the same. Once sprayed works instantaneously.
Worked on my wife’s 2010 Seat Leon. Unlocking the doors wouldn’t unlock the passenger side door and had to be opened from inside. Started off intermittently and then wouldn’t unlock at all for the last 3 months. After this fix left the WD40 to soak and penetrate for an hour after which the door unlocked and could be opened from the outside. Thanks. Great fix!
You saved me £35 plus another £30 quid in labour. Took half a can of WD40 and a lot of locking/unlocking to get it going again but it’s working perfectly now.
I tried it on my Seat leon 1P 2007 and it worked as a charm! In the past I tried several other methods to fix it but none of them worked. This is the ONE and ONLY solution! Thanks man!
Great stuff thanks mate my back door hadn't been opening from outside for years. Did this then waited an hour or 2 then just kept unlocking and locking for about 5 mins which fixed the issue!
Works on my Seat Leon 2010! Did it on both front left and back right door. Drill slowly and don't push hard so that you can realise when the lock cover is drilled. Careful not to damage inner components. Don't pour too much wd40 inside! On one lock it took one dose in the afternoon and one in the morning for it to work Issue appeared during winter, i guess when humidity was high. Thank you Simon and Rachel!
Its similar to the video. Remove the part surrounding the door handle that is usually covered by fabric and measures 10x30cm. Pull towards you until the clips release

This video came to me a few weeks ago i gave it a chance and it worked! finally my doors work. and all thanks to you.
My drivers side and both rear doors didn't open when unlocking the car. Was a little sceptical about trying this as I don't usually have this sort of luck, but I showed this video to my mechanic, he followed the instructions (used triple QX maintenance fluid instead of WD40) and it's worked perfectly! All doors now opening all the time when unlocking the car. Thanks so much mate you're an absolute legend!
Have the same issue on passenger side rear door. Sometimes (especially in summer) the unlock works more often than for example in winter. Just drilled the hole and spayed with WD40. Locked/unlocked a hundred times, looks promising. We'll see in the coming weeks if it holds. Thanks for the video!
Seat dealer quoted over £500 for two door locks on a 2010 Leon :( I'm a complete novice, but this guide was simple and worked a treat. Thanks so much!!! :)
Fantastic! Can't believe this worked. After several yrs my wife's 57 plate altea's doors have all stopped working bar one. She was on about changing her car because of this!! Thank you, you saved me several grand 🤣🤣🤣 I modified the job ever so slightly by covering the hole with some silicone sealant to try to keep the lube in a bit longer. Top work and thanks again.... I tried this an hour before my sons MOT after having stripped out the entire door mechanism to no avail the previous month awful job. Tried this tip and it worked Brilliant easy fix but your right don't drill too deep.👍
Madness. It actually worked on my 57 leon 1.9l. Doors all locked fine but didnt unlock. Opened all door trims and drilled holes in all of them and sprayed alot of wd40 in them. Working perfect again and saved me hundreds
Amazed that such a simple trick worked! Thank you. I used GT85 which contains PTFE lubricant, hoping it'll last the lifetime of the car! Was tempted to plug the hole again, but have risked not doing...
a great big massive thanks to you!! I did the front driver side door and it works treat. One of the rear door where well stuck an I manage to pop the cloth panel off (from the handel side) just enough to get the drill and bit in and make a hole in the white box unit. All good now!! 😀👍

I just did this on our '58 Leon Cupra (drivers door not unlocking via remote, although it did lock by remote) and it worked! Now works as it should. Many thanks!
Nice simple fix, did mine and was only 2 min job! I used wd40 to get it working and then sprayed spray grease in to the hole as it won't dry out as quick.
This is a neat little trick, kudos to you sir! I put a little epoxy putty on the drilled hole to prevent future evaporation and spillage of the wd40 from car movements! Great vid. Thanks
Thanks man you saved me form a lot of frustration, the only think i have to add is that you have to drill a lot before you can reach the inside where you have to spary the WD40!
brilliant! drilling at a slight angle made the difference for me. Also, spraying wd40 with the straw is essential, short bursts to allow it to trickle in.
Very good job! my Altea's /XL 2010y/ two rights doors, was dead almost 6m :) Now after your tutorial everything is okay. All takes me around 1,5h and works perfect! Thank you
Yep it does work! little more difficult on the rear door as the door handle and speaker are built in with the second panel you need to try and get off, just had to bend the panel back a bit but not too much as you might damage the panel. Thanks very much for the info as I was concerned about getting my granddaughter out of my car in an emergency.
Just another confirmation that this fix works and a massive thank you for saving me £250 for replacement locks per door (needed to sort it as we are selling soon..). I did the fix on both passenger side doors on our Leon FR 2010 this weekend and initially it didn't make any difference. Somebody else commented here they had left it a bit longer then eventually it worked so I tried later in the day but still no joy. Btw..the passenger door is slightly trickier due to internal door lever stopping the upper trim from being fully removed so I had to pull the trim back further than I was comfortable with to access the lock for drilling and filling. I also saw a comment about making sure your battery is fully charged so I put the battery on a charger for about 6 hours and parked the car on the drive for the night. The following morning I went to use the car and both doors were now opening from the outside after unlocking..RESULT ! So again a massive thank you to @Rachel Burridge and to say if it doesn't work initially be patient, as in my case the WD40 needed to soak in overnight to loosen the locks.
@@Riz1786 Hi. I'm sorry but can't remember now as it was over 2 yrs ago. I pretty much followed the video and remember having to wing it a bit for the rear lock as holding back the trim was trickier as I mentioned above.

Worked on my wife's Seat Altea, though the handle cover and section of the door card are slightly different. Thanks for posting this - I may get laid tonight!
So awesome! Worked great! Took me about 30 minutes (getting tools from the shed, pulling the panels, drilling, spraying, reassembly, and cleanup). The lock worked instantly! Do I need to cover the hole with anything?
I did exactly this on 3 doors on my Seat Leon and it works a treat, doors no longer stick and lock/unlock without any issues, love this Video! Also I was told if you use a silicone spray it might be better as it wont dry out like WD40 can, allegedly.
Isn't wd40 degreaser as well as lubricant? If you put silicone spray only I don't know if it will decompose the oil that dried up and that "glued" the parts in the first place.
Awesome fix! Works great on my Leon 2010 1.8 TSI! I used spray grease which took a little longer to get things unstuck but I think will last longer as it doesn't dry up as fast. I just needed to shake the door in and out a couple of times for it to loosen things up. Probably best to use a bit of WD40 first which works great to loosen the mechanism and then continue to pour in some grease. Bottom line: Brilliant! Rachel Burridge, you are the man! (or woman, not sure. You don't sound like a Rachel :))
Did not think this had any chance of working especially as I drilled and didn’t seem like any recess to squirt wd40 in. Anyway sprayed into the hole and door opened on first try. Garage wanted to replace the whole door. Glad I checked online

Okay, so after 8 months, the rear right hand side door of my Seat Leon has developed the same issue. The passenger side door is still working perfectly. I was wondering if the lock for the rear door is accessible by removing the same panel?
Yeah it is. You have to take off the same panels, first the long silver panel over the handle, then the fabric bit. You have to pull the fabric piece hard as the clips are big. You'll see the actuator on the left, bit tight but I managed it. Yet to confirm if it worked, been half hour and still not working for me unfortunately
Worked on my daughter's 08 plate Leon. Access to the rear lock is a bit tight, but once I found a 100mm long drill bit it was straightforward. We had problems with the n/s front and o/s rear door. The front had been acting up for a few months, and it cleared immediately after the WD40 was applied. The rear had been u/s for at least a couple of years, and it took about 24 hours for the WD40 to soak through and free everything up.
@@Riz1786 For the rear doors you need a long drill bit. The lock body is plastic so a cheap bit is OK. I bought a pack of 10-off 3mmx100mm bits at either Screwfix or Toolstation for under £5. Be patient if it doesn't work right away.

Nice simple fix, did mine and was only 2 min job! I used wd40 to get it working and then sprayed spray grease in to the hole as it won't dry out as quick.
what kind of grease did you sprayed?
@@JoseHernandez-gu9kk dry lube would probably work im guessing
Thanks mate! You just saved me a fair few quid!!

This is a neat little trick, kudos to you sir! I put a little epoxy putty on the drilled hole to prevent future evaporation and spillage of the wd40 from car movements! Great vid. Thanks
Great solution.
I also recommend spraying silicon grease after spraying the wd40
Thanks man you saved me form a lot of frustration, the only think i have to add is that you have to drill a lot before you can reach the inside where you have to spary the WD40!

brilliant! drilling at a slight angle made the difference for me.
Also, spraying wd40 with the straw is essential, short bursts to allow it to trickle in.

Rob Parham did you drill the hole in the same place on the lock for the rear doors? Need to try I do mine
Thank you very much, it really works! :)

Hi what steps did u take as front ones are different to rear I need to do my back left
@@Riz1786 Hi. I'm sorry but can't remember now as it was over 2 yrs ago. I pretty much followed the video and remember having to wing it a bit for the rear lock as holding back the trim was trickier as I mentioned above.
@@BeakerBailey thanks after couple days my doors all worked has its mind of its own banged the door hard too, drill bit broke so used hammer and screwdriver created hole used double dose of wd40 and next day working fine! I have 3 new working doors yay! Thanks again #happychap now got work out why noise coming from actustor when locking doors maybe need new actuator!?
@@Riz1786 Nice one, well done ! It's very satisfying fixing a problem yourself that would otherwise cost a fortune at a garage.
I was sceptical about drilling the lock but I'm glad I tried as it worked a treat. Thanks a lot
Worked on my wife's Seat Altea, though the handle cover and section of the door card are slightly different. Thanks for posting this - I may get laid tonight!
Did you have to remove entire door card on Altea?

So awesome! Worked great! Took me about 30 minutes (getting tools from the shed, pulling the panels, drilling, spraying, reassembly, and cleanup).
The lock worked instantly!
Do I need to cover the hole with anything?
not really, grease if you like
I did exactly this on 3 doors on my Seat Leon and it works a treat, doors no longer stick and lock/unlock without any issues, love this Video! Also I was told if you use a silicone spray it might be better as it wont dry out like WD40 can, allegedly.
Isn't wd40 degreaser as well as lubricant? If you put silicone spray only I don't know if it will decompose the oil that dried up and that "glued" the parts in the first place.
@@Frostensen I suspect it was greasy that's dried up or deteriorated in the end. Would be difficult to spray or get grease up in that actuator.

My husband Simon did the fix lol thanks
Did not think this had any chance of working especially as I drilled and didn’t seem like any recess to squirt wd40 in. Anyway sprayed into the hole and door opened on first try. Garage wanted to replace the whole door. Glad I checked online
Glad it worked. All we ask if you could share our podcast and subscribe. Thanks
Bro it's still worked. Thanks a lot!

Great

Worked on my daughter's 08 plate Leon. Access to the rear lock is a bit tight, but once I found a 100mm long drill bit it was straightforward. We had problems with the n/s front and o/s rear door. The front had been acting up for a few months, and it cleared immediately after the WD40 was applied. The rear had been u/s for at least a couple of years, and it took about 24 hours for the WD40 to soak through and free everything up.
Hi what steps did u take as front ones are different to rear I need to do my back left
@@Riz1786 For the rear doors you need a long drill bit. The lock body is plastic so a cheap bit is OK. I bought a pack of 10-off 3mmx100mm bits at either Screwfix or Toolstation for under £5. Be patient if it doesn't work right away.
