I saw this program at the time (love your work Pamela!) and was shocked that this was Tony Curtis. Of course age gets the better of us, and at 83 we don't look the same person as in our youth, but still to see our idols near the end is never easy. RIP Tony.
For all the people that said they were shocked to see him look as he did at 83, and compared him to what he looked like when he was young..Remember this some of you will not make it to 83 and very few of you will ever have the experience of looking that great at any age! He leaves a body of movie history that will be seen for as long as their is movies. What will you leave behind? And your comments will long be forgotten.
God damn the part about his younger brother.....man I felt that in my soul because when I was younger I pushed my younger siblings away who just wanted to hang out with me and my friends....idk why I didnt want them to hang out with me but man I know he was haunted by his brithers death all his life
I still remember Tony Curtis in the movie 'City Across the River' from the book 'The Amboy Dukes' -late 40s. He played a Jewish boy called Mitch Wolfe. He was great and a very young handsome fellow. I always thought that the role was much like Bernie Schwarz as a kid. I enjoyed his movies very much.
thanks for posting im glad he did this interview and showed what a hard working guy he IS! nad a huge heart!! even with all the gossip and everyone saying he is a mean man and blah blah blah!!!! hes a legend and he knew it!! there are billions of stars but only a handful of legend monroe, garbo dietrich, gable crawford davis and of course curtis!!
This man had a LOT of personal pain & conflicts. It's a flat-out fascinating interview. ... it is certainly interesting to contemplate what drives a very driven & talented life.
Tony Curtis had suffered a near fatal heart attack, was in a coma, and had to learn to walk again. Forgive him if he looked like a stranger. He died of another heart attack in 2010. He was 85.
The years go by..... all of us will be old one day. And also he was very ill in that video. I just watched Some Like It Hot (again!), and it just brought me to tears to see him like this. What a handsome man he used to be!
This was an extremely interesting video. I believe TONY wore a toupee for quite sometime......... it eventually felt as this age he could be his AUTHENTIC self. Bravo!!!! Aging will be a metamorphosis for all of us . Unfortunately, our better looking young selves, will disappear. Please give him a break, he was a wonderful actor and made a huge mark in the movies 🎥.
This is one of my favorite interviews of all time. There was a lot of probing here and I don't think Tony was much "in actor's mode" in much of his answers and revelations.
We will all get old. I’m 66 .Sowhat? Tony is a hell of a guy. I faced my mortality and came out of it. Life’s a fight! It wasn’t meant to be easy. I agree. Be kind to people. Have some grace. Love one another. That’s the greatest thing we have. The tuff part is being kind to yourself
You read on Wikipedia or wherever that his brother was killed and you move on with that factoid stored away, then you see this and realise what it actually means. Still haunted by it near the end of his life, 70 years of pain and regret, still in tears at the mention of it. Life is very strange and if you're unlucky it gets a shadow cast over it which you can never escape.
The most popular Toni Curtis. I have seen most of his remarkable Movies. All I know is that everybody enjoyed his Movies. He was extraordinary handsome. As regards Booze and Drugs. Which incidentally, I am very much against. Some People unfortunately are week and vulnerable, and having money don't help them ,Some people thrive on their weakness its a pity. maybe its best to show Sympathy .RIP Toni. It's Been a pleasure watching your Films. THANK YOU.
A real actor...just watched The Defiant Ones. He didn't mind his costar being tall or himself wearing a fake padded nose, or pack on 40 kilos for the Boston Strangler. He had to look after a mentally handicapped brother and schizophrenic mother while living in Hollywood. He was sent to identify his dying brother in hospital when he was a kid. Watch The Sweet Smell of Success, Trapeze, Houdini, The Midnight Story, Some Like it Hot, Spartacus...and many others. The book by B. Paris is also great.
I don't know which is more amazing, him working with Marilyn Monroe or Pamela being married to Billy Connolly? Just kidding, the Big yin gets it, legend
He was fairly sincere throughout except for the movie star popping up occasionally, but, really, why not? Not a perfect interview by her but good enough. Did you notice the movie star jump back in at the very end and "toodle-oo" and walk off? Protecting his territory. Bernie will give him hell for it later.
He's old??? What is wrong with you? He's a beautiful person. "I make a point of being kind and considerate with everyone I meet". Maybe you should think about that.
It's called "getting old." It will happen to you, if you live along enough. All these people who think they can beat the clock with plastic surgery, vitamins, working out, lifting weights, running, eating ridiculously healthy foods, etc...all of it. In the end, the clock always wins no matter what we do. Get used to it and be kind to older people because it's really you that you are looking at. Life is not about what you look like, it's about letting go and how you deal with it. That's character.
Yes, I definitely agree with everything you said above J.K. and it has happened 2 me in a way. I used to look like Doug McClure as a kid, but at 57, I'm pushing Freddie Mertz. Must have been in an unfeeling mood when I wrote that about Tony!
Wow! so at 57 I look great! cold daily shower with automassage before starting bhangra dancing for 15 minutes and my kundalini yoga stretches with pranic meditation, hold your breathing and repeat wa he Gurú 16 times, then exhale...., it is called Soddharschan Chakra Kriya and Yogi Bhajan in a video here in youtube teaches it. That is how the yogis in India remain looking young with white hair! I hope I will just be "an adorable granny" to my grand children when they come, no matter if I am all wrinkle then. Good luck beautiful souls.
She's married to Billy Connolly and that is a funny thing... She's a fully qualified Psychoanalyst and that is a serious thing... People on you tube are a pathetic thing... Let's watch a Hollywood great as he's the real thing.

I fell in love with him as a little girl and love him still when he was old . He still sounds the same . He was amazing .
Agree

It breaks my heart to see him like this. 😢
poor man to feel he was to blame for his brothers death. u might think he had it all but his life was difficult and painful. rip Mr curtis

heart breaking childhood story :(

if you have guilt about something and it tortures you, if you lived to be 1000 if will still be with you
Yeah. His recollection about his brothers death is 75 years old here (1933), but he tells it like it happened yesterday.
yes Zoe, some guilt you can resolve, but not guilt about a death, especially someone you loved
This man had a LOT of personal pain & conflicts. It's a flat-out fascinating interview. ... it is certainly interesting to contemplate what drives a very driven & talented life.
The man was in his 80's and ill. How do you think you would look? Come on.

Who is this old lady sitting with therapist? Antoinette Curtis???

This was very touching. Very personal.
a true gentleman, I still miss him
still got those baby blues

I dont care who claims to have what qualifications, at the end of the day it's an interesting interview.
Thanks for the heads up projester46...It must have been late at night or something...she clearly says Bernie!
He sounds like the Godfather.
I understand his pain. Survivors' guilt is such a bitch

Is this pamela stephenson?
yes i thought along the same lines too. I agree with everythng you said. people who disagree are in awe of her celeb status lol x
He had a face lift in this case
I don't know which is more amazing, him working with Marilyn Monroe or Pamela being married to Billy Connolly?
Just kidding, the Big yin gets it, legend
You could go further and question the value of the entire process.
He was fairly sincere throughout except for the movie star popping up occasionally, but, really, why not? Not a perfect interview by her but good enough. barry jeffers
his eyes are so young
MR. CROWLEY
He used to be such a good looking man....
This more "handsome" when he made the movie with marilyn, of course, dressed as a woman
Wasn't this the lady that Peter slapped in "Head" (1968) ?
billy connelys wife
It's not your fault.
What year was this ?
Back in 83' I watched Culture Club on MTV and thought, "Is that Tony Curtis playing drums?"
Ernie Schwartz??? Ummmmmm...his name was Bernie not Ernie! Born Bernard Schwartz in 1925 in NYC....Hello..........at least get his name right!
translate video please..
I commend Curtis for living to a ripe old age, but jeez it's hard to see him looking like the old guy at the end of of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Has it ever come out that he was gay?
thats tony curtis YIKES
Listen to it again, and try to forget she has an accent, lol.
Tony Curtis is hanging out with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin In hell.
OMG: How could that ridiculously handsome guy (in his youth) look so sadly appalling? too sad... a very unfortunate metamorphasis to put it midly

I see he’s wearing mascara.
You should know cancer treatment often make the patient lose all hair including eyebrows and eyelashes ...he wanted to look nice like always 🌹
col.kutz
How could a one-time handsome beyond belief dude end up looking like THAT?
you're ten years older than you were when you wrote that. see how it starts to happen?
his facelift is horrible
He looks disgusting. Have absolutely no respect for him especially for the way he acted towards Marilyn Monroe
Well, he's dead now that should make it less disgusting for you.
Wtf has he to do with her??
fantastic
