It's 1981 and Saoul Mamby makes the penultimate successful defence of his WBC light welterweight title, which is also the first world title bout staged in Indonesia. The opponent, unheralded Thomas Americo from East Timor, who with an undefeated 2-0 record on boxrec is almost certainly suffering from a lack of sourced material.
Americo, the OBPF light welterweight champion, was never stopped in his career, and right after this fight he took on former champion Sang-Hyun Kim. Sadly, he appears to have been killed by militia during the East Timor independence riots in the year 2000.

Hi Meischan Mamby... In Timor-Leste (home country) of Thomas Americo, there is Thomas Americo Boxing Camp. I met his family lasy week and we talked about the fight between Thomas Americo and your father. We hope we can keep in touch in memory of the fight between your father and Thomas Americo. Thomas Americo was killed in September 1999.

Mamby said he was never treated better as a Champion or as a person than he was in Indonesia during the time of this championship defense. (He also made his highest purse: $250,000!)
