Faulty lock Swift Hartal Door Lock Barrel Replacement

Swift caravan door lock - Barrel replacement.
Collapsed lock barrel and your key wont go all the way in? Does your lock feel stiff or crunchy? Potentially one of or even both small lugs (tangs) at the end of the lock barrel could have broken off. Meaning when you turn the key it doesn't operate smoothly how it should. It may not operate at all in some cases. apologies for the long drawn out video please feel free to skip from part to part. Maybe this will help someone who wants to give this a try and repair their door lock themselves.

Thanks, made life a lot easier for me at 4pm on a Sunday in a campsite 6hrs from home. Expensive handle from a local dealer (surprisingly had one in stock!)but at least it’s fixed now with a bit of help from this video👍

Thank you so much. Fitting a new bathroom and we are using the caravan for the shower ( house full of girls)so the caravan is very bisey. Work 6 Days a week Sunday only day to fit the bathroom. Come home from work and they have broken the baral and pulled the door handel off the caravan. I naw now why they say it tackes a man to have girl.🙂

😂ouch mate. 4 boys and a girl so I feel your pain. Just gone to lock mine after a weekend away and the lock jammed and then the barrel came out on the key😮. At least I only need to slide a new one in😂😂😂

Quick question, if the barrel has broke one of the lugs like the example you showed & is able to be taken out without stripping down the full door lock and handle can you simply put a new barrel straight in to the locating lugs?

Thank you very much, I could do the replacement myself!! I have to say the design of the handle is quite poor. If you pull it and the door is locked it breaks quite easily

This could have been done without dismantling and simply using the barrel removal key from the manufacturer
